hmmm, I remap props all the time..never have that problem....not flipping the map? not flipping the normals? not rotating the map? when making a tex, select all the black ( want selection tool ) invert selection to only be the mesh, not the white. grow the selection by a few pixels then make it another layer / object. that expansion really helps cut down on seam errors ( like no tex on the seam of the prop ) when resaving the obj, every setting for it has to match the map settings exactly. and you have to use the newly mapped obj as well for the prop. the texture information may be different for it after you map it.

Jaqui, thanks for the reply. As far as I can tell, I didn't flip any normals or rotate the map. I followed the tutorial on the UVMapper website exactly (the one where he's remapping the Poser 3 woman). The only difference is I'm using the Poser 4 nude male. Here's a rendering with the template I mapped on the P4 male. If you look at the side of the neck and the top of the arm, you'll see what I mean. The map there is very warped. I reloaded the original P4 nude male and check his map and it's okay, but mine keeps coming out warped.Any ideas?
I just checked that out myself...does the same for me. and it's got me confuzled. if all you really need is a new texture, you don't actually have to re-map the model, only open a tex in your paint program and start making it look like you want. easier with blank mesh background, but that isn't required.
Yeah, I figured out I could just simply reopen the original P4 Nude Man obj and resave the texture map at a larger size (3000 x 3000 as opposed to 524 x 524). However, I really wanted to remap certain parts so I could get better detail on them. Oh well! It helps knowing that I'm not the only one who gets this. Thanks!

Hi Helen - I'm guessing that you are using planar mapping on the figure. Planar mapping by itself can causing "stretching" at the edges of the textures because of the way it's projected. The facets at the edge are facing away from the axis of projection and therefore only use a small amount of the map, which causes the apparent strectching. There are a few ways around this: first, you may want to keep the mapping that already exists on the model and only remap portions that you need. If you have a selection active when you choose a mapping mode, only the current election will be affected. You can also use the vertex select mode to grap the vertices and pull them away from the edge to reduce the stretching. Finally, you can also have a look at the Pro version with has a special tool for dealing with this. The link is to a tutorial I wrote on using UVMapper Pro to create maps like the attached camel template. I hope this helps, SteveHi Steve. I have the 0.25e classic version of UVMapper. I'm tryin the uvmapperbasic tutorial but the tutorial seems to be from a different verision. For example at the beginning of the tutorial it says to go to Edit>Settings to get the output settings dialog but all I get is a small dialog with an option to changes the pixles per unit. Is there another tutorial or version I should be useing? I can't seem to get past the first part of the tutorial. Thanks for any help Tom

Hi Tom - You've got the latest version of UVMapper Classic, but the tutorial was written for an older version. The new version has all of the features of the previous versions, but some of them have moved (sorry about that, I really need to find the time to update those tuts.) For example, what used to be "Edit->Settings" and check "Color by Group" is now "Edit->Color->by Group". Until I get the chance to update the tuts, please try looking for the options in your version. I have a problem. I followed the the tutorial Steve Cox posted on permanantly remapping a Poser character. When I load the texture map for the remapped figure, everything shows up where it's supposed to, but the seams of the texture come out wrong. There is a texture at the seams, but the edges do not match up, and they look badly distorted. I thought maybe I just needed to do a seam guide for my remapped character, so I loaded just the template for the texture map (the black and white grid), but that comes out warped as well. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I need to get a seamless texture!
