Subject: realistic glass

Hi all does anyone have any tips on making realistic looking glass for windows in poser? I'm having a look in the tutorials as well just in case. Thanks in advance Rob

Just fiddle around with the transperency dials

You could also add a Reflection Map

Set between 20 - 30% Tick multiply through lights

I use my cloak of invisability which is a black square texture map used in transparancy, then play with the max and min.

if you want a real glass look, you could try to change the renderer. If you have an pc, get PoseRay here from the freestuff and the POVRay 3.5 beta from www.Povray.org and make real glass with reflection and refraction. All for free. Just give it a try...

I'll have a look thanks bantha, here's what I was trying to do tho, it ended up not looking like glass more like a forcefield, thanks for the tips guys & girls. Rob

Rob, The mountains would get misty with distance, but the foreground and the mountains are of equal saturation and sharpness. Also, the woman would be reflected in the glass, even if dimly. Render her from the other side (pick the appropriate angle), flip it and slap it on your glass with a heavy dose of transparency. If she is sitting that close, her shadow would be sharper as well... adjust the shadow map for that light. Carolly

Basically all you need to do is make a black square (0,0,0) in a paint program like photo shop and save it as a .jpeg Drop it into the textures file where you can find it easily. I named mine *cloakof invisability, so It's on top. Then when you want to use it , load it in transparancy then set the max and min to 95 and 85 repectively to start. I play with the levels till I get it to where I want it. Add a color to tint the glass if you wish and add a bump map if you want for more interest as I did with the girl in the vase.
