If you have the Aiko version that uses the Stephanie geometries, here's a simple way to get the Aiko models to use the Victoria mappings. As far as I know, this will only work with the Stephanie based Aiko character (there may be a way to do this with the standalone character as well) 1. Download AprilYSH's "StephVSkin UVS" package and create a new obj file (it creates the obj file in the DAZ people folder, so that simplifies the next step) 2. Open the "Aiko (Anime-Steph).cr2" file in a text editor and change all references (there should only be two) of "blStephanie.obj" to "StephVskin.obj" and resave the cr2 file under a different name (i.e. "AikoVSkin.cr2") 3. April has done a wonderful job of remapping the Stephanie character to accept the Victoria maps--so load the Vic maps and turn off the full body "spandex" morphs, and there she is...an Aiko character with a lot more texturing possibilities. P.S. Once again--textures are from Eowyn's Shari Complete package.

Ok, easy to change, but how do I resave the cr2 as a cr2. It became a text file and Poser won't read it. I don't have anything but Notepas to do this with-- maybe I need something else? Emily

queri ( ) posted Sun, 16 June 2002 at 11:30 PM

And keep them cr2 files. This sounds like a great idea. But so far, just adding .cr2 isn't cutting it. Emily

Sassywench ( ) posted Sun, 16 June 2002 at 11:36 PM

Queri.... when you go to save it in notepad after you put in the file name.cr2 (down at the bottom) right under that in "save as type" use "all files" not .txt Hope I explained that right LOL Sassy

Yeah, I figured out what was happening. I open the file in NotePad, but once it's open, the file is in WordPad and there is no option for "all files." I was feeling crazy, now I feel cursed. I suppose I'm gonna have to uninstall WordPad. Before I do, can NotePad handle the size of the cr2? Emily

Sassywench ( ) posted Mon, 17 June 2002 at 12:39 AM

Oops!! You're right... LOL I don't use it for cr2's... try www.notetab.com for a free text editor.. thats what I use... and I think someone mentioned Edit Pro? or Edit Tab? Maybe look in download.com... Sorry I made you crazy! Sassy

Emily you can just change the file extension in Windows explorer :)

Well, I tried to change the extension in Windows Explorer and haven't a clue how. P3Do couldn't change it. I give up. Emily I told you, cursed.

AprilYSH ( ) posted Mon, 17 June 2002 at 3:38 AM

ahhh, yeah, I read someone say that but forgot about it. :) out of interest i will be checking if DAZ figured this out too and used it in their promos!

I think that Aiko actually looks like a Pixie-- little wickeder than fairy but still not human. I'm at the point where different is good. Emily

April sez: "thanks for thinking of the remap Freakachu :)" It's an excellent remap...It also allowed me to use Anton's subdividing MAT files flawlessly on both Stephanie and Aiko (which was the motivating factor in hacking Aiko's file in the first place). With Anton's catsuit MATs and Aiko's spandex morphs, there are now a lot more possiblities for Aiko "suit" designs that allow seperate texturing for the skin.

queri ( ) posted Mon, 17 June 2002 at 5:10 AM

That's just what I was hoping could happen. Yea! Might want to take a look in Product showcase-- there's a Victora anime figure in development too. The more subdividing mat files the better. I was looking at Karanta's new body suits as excellent anime wear-- with a few bracers boots strings and other trappings. Emily PS:Thank you Sassywench, Notetab worked fine. And it was all for naught anyway as this desktop only has the pre Steffie fix obj. But my laptop has the good one. I'll switch them out. It all depends on which I can get more memory in and my tech's coming to look at the desktop--well, now it's tomorrow. Tuesday. Nice to get all my Poser stuff together in one machine. I want to put some of Mermaidica on Aiko [without the tail] and maybe see what Ecstacy's texts look like on her. Could be awesome.

Puntomaus ( ) posted Mon, 17 June 2002 at 6:01 AM

Ohhh, Ecstacy's Drucila looks great on her - just working on a pic :-).

Emily, when you view the filename in Windows Explorer, just click till the name is highlighted. Then retype the new name. I'm not sure if it's a double-click. I just fumble till I get the desired result! Ron

Emily... glad it helped! And for free is always a good price LOL Sassy

A common problem with newer version of windows is that it masks the file extension, so even if you add a new one by renaming the file, the old one remains but isn't visible untill you turn viewing suffixes back on. This will of course affect the way applications map to specific file types. You can usually find this under either "folder options" or via the "view" menu in explorer, it's on a serperate tab on the "properties" menu (I think) works for everything but differs depending on what OS you're using, (did it today for a Notes server running NT...) Cool remaps April, cheers! later jb

You can save files in Word, Notepad and Word Pad inside quotes to force the program to save it with the proper Poser extension, incidently- "My_new_character.cr2" for example.

queri ( ) posted Mon, 17 June 2002 at 2:47 PM

Good to know! Thank you, Jim. Emily

I keep forgetting about Windows *stupid* feature that hides file extensions of known file types. It drives me absolutely nuts, and I always eliminate this nuisance ASAP. If you have Windows XP, go to Control Panel, Folder Options, Click the View Tab, and remove that checkmark from Hide Extensions of Known File Types. You know me, a screenshot is supplied!
