I used to create a few fractals on my old speccy +2 and then on my faithful (it's still going) Atari STe. I now work mainly in 3D but would really like to get back into FRACTALS. Can anyone tell me of a good (pref. Freeware) Fractal programmes, particularly ones that do things like plants, trees, ferns, landscapes etc....but any fractal software would be cool. With many thanx in advance - STEVE

Go to the provided link and make your selection. Some of the better-known programmes (not all may be listed on the web site) are Ultra Fractl (shareware), Sterling Ware, TieraZon, Mind Boggling Fractals, XenoDream (payware), and Kai's Power Tools FraxFlame/Plorer/4D (Photoshop-compatible graphics editor payware plugins). And let's not forget Fractint, which is a DOS program, but runs well in all the Windows flavors up to XP, if you get the latest developer's version from their website. It's freeware, and probably the best (and first) good fractal generator available.

Hi Steve! My favorite generators are Vchira and Tierazon 2.7. He also makes Flarium 24, an older generator, but it's still good. They're both totally free, and you can find both of them at the creator's (Stephen Ferguson), website. Also, Fractal Explorer is a good one, and Ultra Fractal, but they're not free. As I'm posting this, I see that Steven has already posted another link I was going to give you, which is to the fractal world's most well-known archivist and good guy, Paul Lee. Good luck and have fun. :) Tina
