Ok, so I just a new image, only my second since May, after a lot of posts over the winter. I said so in the forum, with a link to my pic. I get two friendly and useful comments, then this: "Nipples could never, ever do that. The horse is one dimentional. her eyes are looking wrong. texture on the horse, her hair, and, her boots is really bad. the background looks just like what it is...a picture. and, it is pixolated. it's not nice to spam the forums with a falsehood. i've been a member a long, long time. you werent gone...imho..no, not humble opinion. oh, and, btw....my rating is based upon merit. not the fact that you were underhanded in getting viewers." I'm not sure if it's a case of raging hormones, or what. Maybe this person was offended in some way by what seemed to me a light-hearted, kind of cartoony image. Maybe I violated 'Rosity protocol in some way, without meaning to. Anybody have a clue what's going on here?

"just posted a new image," I meant to say. Sorry.

I have no clue... is this a comment on the image? Is this something written in the thread?

some people just dont have anything better to do. Everybody has learned to steer clear of them in real life, so they now rant over forums on the internet. We have a couple of people like that here, you just have to learn who they are and learn not to take their comments seriously. I believe strongly in critical appraisal and constructive criticism, it can only improve you as an artist, but that wasnt very constructive or put in a very professional way. For someone who has been here a long, long time you think they would tell you what was wrong and encourage you, not bash yor work. The funny hing is that the people who seem to offer he most scathing reviews usually arent all that talented themselves. Dont give an image a 10 if it doesnt deserve one, but for the sake of art in itself dont totally trash someone for trying. I dont know which post or gallery image yu are referring to, but I'm sure it didnt warrant that behavior and I hope you dont take it as representing the communities views as a whole.

orphea ( ) posted Tue, 25 June 2002 at 9:59 PM

Thanks, darkphoenix. My past experience here has been amazingly positive, I guess--this just shocked me a little. The pic is just a fluffy little cheezecake thing, but still...

Well said, Darkphoenix. In my personal opinion, people who can't at the very least be civil when expressing their opinions ought not to be attended until they can learm to do so. I am a bit puzzled at the criticism of the horse... it is, after all, a rocking horse... and clearly extended in two dimensions... ;) Silly as ever, -Strange

Valandar ( ) posted Tue, 25 June 2002 at 10:09 PM

One thing... by "haven't posted here", I assume you mean in the forums? Because the date stamp on all your pictures show you've at least been around here for a while.

The thing that kills me is the critic used "big words" and couldn't even spell right. I gave your image a "10," partly based on the image quality, and partly to help out-balance the "1" you already had. In otherwords I liked your image.

gg77 ( ) posted Tue, 25 June 2002 at 10:33 PM

You created an excellent image that is different from the more common and popular types that consistently get lots of viewings and comments. You are to be commended for your personal expression, originality and humour. Keep it up and help provide some quality variety here at R'osity!

Orphea, you had fun doing the image an it shows like I said in my comment. Sorry if I gave a little more info than necessary but I thought a little humour was needed. I enjoyed it.

willdial ( ) posted Tue, 25 June 2002 at 11:23 PM

Orphea, I gave you a 10 becuase I love your image and to help off set the "1" you unfairly received. Your picture is lively and bright. I looked Mr."1"'s gallery. His images are dark and serious. Maybe he does not like bright and joyious images? But, all I know is that I love it.

quixote ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 2:30 AM

I don't post to galleries, because I can't stand to see my work once its done. I'm more critical about my work than anyone. I therefore have a lot of respect for those artists that DO post and open themselves up for abuse or subjective comments- some of them self-serving. A sense of humour is also important. Clearly some people just don't have one. I found that image campy and it made me smile. That means, it broke through the barriers. As for technique, I rarely make comments, unless I can see what the artist wanted to do and used the wrong tool. It's not how I would want to see the work, it's more how the artist saw it that's important to me. Move on. This one's done. Go to the next image and give yourself to it. That's what we do. Good luck. I hope to see more of your work. Q

I like your pic. Very expressive and colorful. Fits right in to the cheesecake genre. Don't let the negative/pompous comments discourage you. Unfortunately, people like that exist in every facet of life. Just try to realize that a person who is secure in him/herself will try to encourage others, not discourage them with negativity. Keep up the great work!

Okay.....Here's what I think. There are 80,000 renderosity members. Many of the old faces are no longer here. I followed the link on your "Hi, I'm back" thread. I felt that you used a shabby method of getting "hits" on your picture. I thought your picture was pixolated. I did not realize that you meant your image as "humorous". Perhaps, I did not see the humor because I was angry for being tricked into viewing it in the first place. There are 80,000 members of this site. If everyone went about getting views by tricking folks in the forums, folks most likely would begin to avoid the forums....and, think of the bandwidth!!! I removed my comment. However, the horse IS one dimensional...and, I've been a female my whole life....I don't think nipples can really do that. And, there is a LOT of pixellation....especially around her arm. Her ass was nice, though. I guess I should have erred on the side of caution and given you a 3 for the decent looking butt.

LadyJaiven ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 6:16 AM

There will always be critics in life, no matter the situation and you should never let them get to you... Take things w/the attitude - You win some, you lose some. If you enjoy it and it makes you happy, screw what anyone else has to say negatively. Humans are opinion driven individuals... glad I'm not one hehehe. If someone says something that isn't to your liking, then by all means, please take it with a grain of salt, c'est la vie, mon ami. That's life. Just grin and bear it. Now... I dunno personally, but I think nipples can do that. I uhh haven't done any research yanno, but uh yea. :) You enjoyed making the image and it is pleasing to you, right ? Then THAT is what matters, so just smile and be happy and junk :) One man's trash is another man's treasure... By no means am I calling your work trash! Just wanted to clarify. But remember what is pleasing to one's eye may not be pleasing to another. clears throat and gets off soapbox Hehehe :)

First, big thanks to all who've expressed your support. It means a lot to me. To Poppi: I can't imagine what it is in your psyche that prompted your nasty little tirade--the suggestion that I somehow "tricked" you into viewing my image seems, frankly, a little paranoid. Your negative response to the campy light-heartedness of the image doesnt surprise me, in retrospect: people who have trouble sorting out layers of meaning tend to dislike and distrust jokes. As to your critique of the image: 1.Sure, the nipples are a bit exaggerated; I'm not going for absolute photo-realism here. Why do you assume that I am? 2.I don't presume to understand your intellectual process, but I think you mean to say that the horse looks TWO dimensional. 3.At what resolution are you viewing? I work at a relatively low-res 832x624, and the only pixelation I notice is around my signature. It's evidently a by-product of Photoshop's "bevel/emboss" filter. I should've caught it, but I guess my eye wasn't really focused on the lower right corner of the image. Go figure. You are living proof that one can be a long-time member here and still not have learned the first thing about internet civility. All I can say in response is, boy, am I glad I don't have to live in your extremely negative headspace! And hey, maybe next time we'll chat about YOUR work. Now I'll take the kind advice offered by many who've responded here, and put this business behind me. Flame on if you want, Poppi. Whatever floats your sad little boat.

The point is: it's really annoying to post a "Hi, I'm back!" message in the Poser forum. You're back eh? Wow, great! If everyone wrote a Hi, I'm back thread to plug their images, there wouldn't be a site. In my opinion, if you use these tactics to plug images, you open yourself up to nitpicking and unfair responses. I would suggest that if you cannot see this point, you may have a problem with extreme self-centeredness -WTB

orphea ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 11:59 AM

WTB: If you find the subject header annoying, why bother reading the post? Is it a breach of established 'Rosity protocol to invite forum readers to view a new image? Are you one of the moderators--someone who understands and can enforce the finer elements of that protocol? Or are you just another angry little control freak who likes to tell other people what to do?

quixote ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 12:06 PM

WTB- That's a smoke screen. It seems to me that if that was really her point: 1. She would have trashed the practice not the image. 2. She would have left the comment on the thread, not the gallery. 3. She wouldn't have wasted her time even more by commenting, in fact she wouldn't have hit the link at all. She trained by Pavlov. See a link and hit it without thinking. Naw. Smoke screen. And a bad one. Q

Quixote makes valid points About pavlovian thread-reading: I clicked on the thread because when I see "I'm Back" I'm curious who, exactly, is back. Since I've never heard of Orphea, I was curious if it was someone who had changed their name. I look forward to the day when the Poser forum, and it's top four pages, is filled with "Come see my new image!" and valid Poser related topics are nowhere to be found. Typically "I'm Back" would go into OT or Virtual Tavern. "Come See my image" is self-centered, implying that somehow the poster is special, and deserves to side-step the gallery/thumbnail process above all others. Surely Orphea can see the problems of everyone getting equal time in headlines in the Poser forum? If not, then again I say "Self-Centered". I am not a moderator, just an interested Party with an opinion. Calling me an Angry Control Freak is hypocritical, since you're implying control against my opinions and their validity in a forum I frequent. -WTB

From another day at the office. Thanks WTB...I am glad that someone understands why the thread was aggravating. Orphea....I did not like your picture. And, I said as much. Get over it. You ran this risk when you used your ruse to get hits, AND, enabled comments. First of all....this should have been taken up with me in private, before you posted this thread this am. I would not have even seen this thread, except for a couple of folks that I consider friends alerting me to it. I'm not sure if it's a case of raging hormones, or what and, then, this: All I can say in response is, boy, am I glad I don't have to live in your extremely negative headspace! Are personal attacks, as I see it. Why....because I posted what to me was an honest comment on your picture. I did not like it. That is my right. I looked at it another time. I STILL do not like it. Had I been cruising the gallery, i would have ignored it. Since I was FORCED to view it....I commented. 'nuff said? If you don't like my work....FINE. At least if you go to my gallery it is by choice. And, humor is not lost on me. I think Legume's stuff is downright funny....so is Radart's/Dragon Walk's...If you made some smile...good. Don't forget....we all have our own unique tastes. I saw nothing funny about a cheesecake girl with really extended nipples riding what looked like a paper cut out horse. Some did. Lighten up. sigh I am so tired of people on the internet trying to tell other people how to do everything. Like self proclaimed little cops running around berating people for doing something different than what THEY like. Stop watching what everyone else is doing. If you don't like something, shut up and go look somewhere else. The only time you need to be concerned is if something is illegal. If it's not illegal, don't bitch about it. And for heaven's sake, if you can't say something nice or constructive about someone's artwork, DON'T LEAVE A COMMENT. No one likes rude comments and attitude on their images and no one deserves them either.

The nipples are cute, this is classic cheesecake, no-one is going to say about Vargas or Elvgren, 'Hey, tits don't do that!' or similar. That's what's known as missing the point. I mean, wow.... pick on something relevant if you have to pick at all. I think the image is fun. It succeeds in what it set out to do. :] FishNose

WTB- You make a good point. But why piggyback it on this thread? If I understand correctly, since this frustrates, we should trash the images that the links refer to? Makes no sense. Why isolate one case? Why not start a new thread and bring this, in a general sense to the attention of all as a valid concern. Why personnalise it this way? That's what I think is wrong with your argument. It's not serious because of the context. Something to consider. Regards, Q

Well, I'm staying out of image commentary. I neither like nor dislike the image, but I AM fond of the nipples to be honest. Nipples can look like that when they are plump with arousal and/or pregnancy...it really depends on the type of nips you have in the first place. I don't condone trashing images, not really, but I see Poppi's points clearly. Why isolate one case? Because the author of this thread chose to make it a crusade by starting a thread of her own. Plus, I'm terribly bad at minding my own business. -WTB

okay....now....a quick question. Nipples become engorged, like that during arousal. At least from what i have learned being a female. TOS states...this...when dealing with gallery images.... Posting unacceptable images : No Rape. No Torture. No Sexual acts. No Physical arousal. No Genital contact with ANY object, other than sitting or clothing. No depictions of young humanoid characters in erotic, seductive, provocative poses or context. I am not the gallery police. However, I objected to her arousal, while "riding" a horse. Not only was she aroused....yes...that's how we females show it....she was, imho...no, not humble...so aroused as to distort her anatomy. btw....all your pictures are pretty much full tilt boogey aroused beyond humanly possible. Now, I never raised an issue on this before.....however, due to your duplicitous behaviour involved in my viewing of this image in the first place....AND, your trying to humiliate me in the public forum....AND....your personal attacks about "raging hormones" and negative headspace.... geeze, for someone who has only been here about 3 months you certainly are sure of yourself. i stand by what i said, originally. i do not like this picture. i do not like seeing arousal in the galleries, much less....arousal in a very distorted form...yeah, hon...turn me on....my nipples will turn into plastic baby bottle looking thingeys for you...oh, what a man!!! i don't like female genitalia that look like huge hungry clams, either...soooo scarey. and, if i posted a pic to gallery of a dude with a massive distorted hard-on....doncha know...it would be pulled for tos violations. what is good for the gander should also be good for the goose. orphea...you started this. because i posted my true feelings on your gallery post. you did not im me that you had a problem with my comments....you did not im me that this thread was even in the forum. you just went about your merry way doing what you could to discredit my opinion. and, you got personal about it. i do not like your picture. i think it is badly done, and, yes, i think that it violates the tos. i did not ask an admin to remove it. i did nothing to you except voice my opinion. you chose to disagree with me...but, also chose to attack me for my honesty. get over it. in my book, honor counts ALOT. There's an old saying "with freedom comes responsibility." When someone asks for a comment, they're not giving you a license to be crude, rude, or socially unacceptable. Part of being an adult is to accept some responsibility and show others some respect.. yes and expect to get it in return. If you don't like this type of thread, then don't read it. If you have some suggestions for Constructive Criticism, then post in a diplomatic fashion. What you did was Trolling. That's not a nice word here. WTB: If you don't like it, don't read it. Guys, can you get your lingo straight? Trolling is hunting. Trolls in the classical literature have many good points. They never tell a lie. They always keep their word. They easily see through deception. They have the whitest laundry in the nine known worlds. They have families and culture and prefer bacon to human for breakfast. On the negative side, they get excessively angry if someone tries to deceive them, steal from them, or otherwise trespass. If you had a lineup of the average Viking, the average Troll and the average Norse God... the Troll would almost certainly be the most honorable one in the bunch. Trawling is bottom-fishing. Trawlers are destructive. They trash anything and everything in their way. They do not discriminate or analyse, but drag everything into their nets. In search for a few choice morsels they will make a wasteland of what used to be a productive seabed. And they never clean up anything. Trawling is going through the galleries indiscriminately, leaving rubbish behind. Trolls have better things to do, like listen to their self-playing harps. Trawling, not trolling. Got it? Carolly

Isn't this a fairly accurate description of yourself? You are trying to bully folks as to how they should comment on your gallery. seems like a bit of the pot calling the kettle, here.
