OK, TO ALL OF YA THAT WERE BEING SARCASTIC...Well, never mind, ANYWAY'S, this Hard Drive was sold to a local pawn shop and was NOT formatted or anything. So I payed $50 for it and when I installed it I was surprised that it wasnt formatted and had tons of crap on it. Thats when I noticed P4 Installed on it, at the time I never even heard of Poser but I messed around with it and turned out to like it. So, when I was asking for the file, it's not like I was breaking the law or anything...I seriously didnt know that asking for just that one little file could cause so much havok. Anyhow, for those of U that said "Get a job" I'll be glad to tell U that I have a great job that pay's a pretty penny which is programming PC's so it's not like I cant afford to buy P4, it's just that Metacreations may come out with a Poser 5 or something just as soon as I buy Poser 4 so, what's the point in wasting time and money??? Well...anyhow thanx to all of U that were being truthful and helpful, to U others...no comment.

Wodie52, Sunscape is correct - under the terms of the licence for P4, using it off of the HD you purchased is illegal. Also, distributing the OBJ file itself would be a breach of the contract with Zygote and just as illegal. And, I'm afraid, the case holds true with any other commercial software that was left on your drive by it's previous owner. However, you needn't worry about a new version of Poser superceeding P4 just yet a while. And, when you get your shiney new version of P4, you may find loads of other "goodies" the previous owner deleted that you weren't aware of. Paul

Sssh Don't tell him the Poser CD has other stuff, he'll start requested that people send that as well:) Personally I find it a major cheek that somethings they should be able to get something for nothing that is not rightly there's to use. Anything on a hard drive that you bought, and you don't own, is not yours, you are not entitled to you it and illegal requests are most unwanted. The Z.I.G

Wodie52 Buy it! It's definately worth it!! Larry, Poser's creator just released a new patch for it and it works better than the installed version of Poser4. Meta is never going to release a new version of Poser because they dumped it for a reason that to this day STILL doesn't make sense. Even if someone does release a Poser5, it won't be for a very long time and there are still folks here that use Poser3. This is one program that never goes out of Style ;-) Anyway, don't feel too bad about asking your question. Everyone here has a strong passion for Poser and therefore no one want's to violate any license agreement. And were all feircely, if overprotectively loyal to its creators. AR

In short Wodie, we have no idea whether you are a thieving jerk or just someone who really lucked into something. If the former, well....nuff said, if the latter, we would dearly love to help but as stated above, there is a kind of honor system in place....Count your blessings that for sometime you have had ALMOST ALL of a two hundred dollar program to play with...and poser 4 woman ain that much better than what you can do with the P3woman...you do have her, dont you? One more point in favor of purchase -- usually, in the past, if Poser was upgraded within a certain time range of the purchase, the upgrade is free.

I didn't catch whether this was P3 or P4 you acquired. If it's P3, I don't know for sure that a P4 character will even be compatible with it. You would be much better off getting a new copy of Poser 4 anyway, just because, as someone above pointed out, you may not have a complete copy of it there anyway. There may be files deleted and in that case you're missing a lot. I think some people are still able to find copies of P3 in bargain bins at the computer stores probably for a very cut price. See if you can find one and then get the upgrade to P4 when you've practiced and gotten comfortable with the way the program works. I think some people here are being a bit harsh with Wodie52. We shouldn't automatically assume that he is a thief and a jerk just because this program happened to be on the hard drive he bought (the previous owner should reformatted it before dumping the drive). It is illegal to use it, but he might not know that, and it's not fair to jump all over someone without knowing the facts. Let's give our Poser friends the benefit of the doubt and not condemn anyone without a fair chance. It would be nicer of us to gently remind new people of the way things are done and don't be so ready to hang someone so quickly. We're here to help not point fingers. Melanie

Amen Melanie... We are all here because we have acquired poser. Some of us legally, some of us not so much. Bottom line: nobody knows who's legit and who's not and as far as I am concerned, here it doesn't matter. Here should be all about end-product and the community of people who produce those end-products. Many people got their start in poser from a warez download...many of those people went on to become huge contributors. Some of those even purchased Poser after the fact. As far as requests for files go: the real issue is not an unwillingness to help someone like this in need, but the simple fact that a new name turns up and who knows? Maybe it's a sting. You can decline a potential sting by simply saying "I'd love to help but it violates my license agreement" and leave it at that. In this particular case: If you send someone P4NudeFemale, the person cannot do anything with it if they do not have poser. If they have poser, no matter how they got it, then they already have it. If they don't, then a tragedy occured somewhere and maybe that person needs help. I dunno...I'm no lawyer, but I think there's no case there. I'll bet none of you have MP3's either...sheesh. -Darth_"Not PC" Logice

Amen Darth! I don't really think it is our place to condemn someone just because they inadvertantly came upon some "illegal software". Besides, Meta has a version of Poser 4 that is demo only, essentially he has a crippled version of Poser. Granted, he should buy a copy of P4, and his concerns about buying it then finding out a couple months later it was upgraded are not uncommon. I myself have held off buying a program I knew was being upgraded. But since P4 isn't being upgraded, just patched, it's a good time to buy. Besides man, you get quite a few goodies on the CDs, an SE version of Painter 3D, demos, utilities, freebie models and more. Then you also get the excellent manual that really helps you learn Poser. The manual alone is worth the price. Besides, it's not like he was asking for a serial number or someone to give him the working executable. If you want a good deal on Poser, check out www.journeyed.com, it's for active students, but if you know someone who is a student ask them to order it for you. It's $250 retail and about $160-175 educationally priced, and there is no difference. I hope you find a full version of Poser to be a very rewarding program and look forward to your contributions to the Renderosity and Poser communities.
