lol oddly enuff almost every BIG seller I have, was once a freebee. the croc and armor were downloaded several thousand times when they were first released (talk about bandwidth! heh) the armor actually was given away to some with the winged serpent as a bonus (just for them saying thanx) btw, look above at a new freebee (you all made me realize I hadnt given one away for..well, for a long time) :) BT

c1rcle ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 2:24 AM

unfair question, I can't decide, I've got so many great freebies every one I download is my favourite for 15 minutes, the only ones I use all the time tho have got to be Kozaburo's hair props, every render I do with a person in it has at least one of his hair props in it, plus I got to test his most recent release :) Rob

Roy G ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 3:15 AM

davidm ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 5:15 AM

WOW!...Where to start??!! :-)

Kozaburo's legendary Poser hair (use them for everything!), Daz's Stephanie/Low-res Vicky/Gorilla/Gremlin, ALL the amazing models at SAM's 3D, Debra Ross's wonderful animals, Hawktoey's great stuff, RuntimeDNA's Vicky Pants and Michael Jacket, Billy-T's Shirt, Dark Whisper's Boots, Clothes by Ghastley Software, Brycetech's amazing freebies, Dudley's fab cars, UVMapper, Morph Manager, Traveler's Morphs, Schlabber's Poses...In fact, I've worked out that I would probably finish this list by the year 2037...so I'm going to stop now and just say a BIG THANK YOU to all of the FreeStuff contributors!!! YEAHHHHHHHH!!! :-)

Dave :-)

Desdemmonna ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 6:22 AM

If it wasn't for the astoundingly wonderful freebies I've downloaded...I would have given up on Poser a looong time ago :) My favorite freebies are all of them! A big hug to everyone who has ever given a freebie to the community.

Questor ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 7:37 AM

Every freebie I've ever downloaded. In the early days, JeffH, PhilC and Steve Shanks without whom I would never even have bothered with Poser. It was their freestuff props and clothing and hair that helped in Poser 3 so that I didn't have to do bald nudes all the time. After that every single freestuff item I downloaded taught me something. If it wasn't for the people providing free items I personally would have given up on Poser and the communities a long time ago. As it is, they helped inspire me, helped to create images I wanted to make and all of them helped me to learn. That is something I can never repay no matter how many "no charge" items I offer back. Still I find freestuff items that are an inspiration and still I learn from others. So, for all those who contributed to funstuff all those years ago, and to those who still offer items at no charge today. THANK YOU!!!

mjonesboy ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 9:06 AM

Kozaburo's hair , hands down the most vesatile, well-made freebie out there for me and I'm a freebie NUT. One day... maybe one day, I'll be able to contribute back to everyone. Thanks to all the generous folks here at 'Rosity and the artists everywhere who contributes render-worlds. Mjonesboy <---(stepping down from his 'Rosity lit podium applauding the artistic throngs as they all take a well-deserved, long overdue bow!) ;-)

cooler ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 11:44 AM

I certainly appreciate the mentions on a couple of the lists above but there is one invalueable free item that has been overlooked until now... Steve Coxs' UV Mapper. Without it many of the freebies either wouldn't exist or certainly wouldn't be of the quality we see on a daily basis. To paraphrase an old BASF commercial... "It doesn't make the models, It makes them more detailed... It doesn't make the textures but it makes them possible to be more lifelike... It doesn't make the renders, it make the renders better." Thanx Steve

Joerg Weber ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 11:44 AM

Hey Brycetech - I would never forget your freedies - least of all Birdy. But I really would not say, that there is a "Best-of-Freestuff". I like all the freestuff here - it's the last thing that keeps a bit of the spirit this place once had. The rest has gone down the marketplace drain.

MartinC's Mac stuff is the one thing I use almost every day. I'll never forget what the Egyptians looked like when I tried to open them without being converted: polygon salad. Koz's hair is amazing. I can't believe he's still giving it away. He must have a great job because he could definitely pay the rent with that stuff. Traveler's morphs probably did more to make me really work with Poser than anything. If I had been stuck with Posette and Dork out of the box, I would have let Poser gather dust. And I can't believe no one has mentioned SnowSultan's seam guides. Saved me HOURS and HOURS of work. These are only the ones that rise to the top of my list immediately. To all the other Freebie providers as well: Thank You. You are too numerous to mention but I appreciate every mintute of your work and your generosity in sharing it. - Gwydion

Staale's textures Everything from the Props Guild crew Bushi's Tutorials (Which got me started making figures) Steve Shank's Tutorials (Which was how I got started making clothing) Schlabber's poses Morph Manager UV Mapper MASA's Morph Mirror John Wind's Compose Torino's Evolution female, without which there would have been no Eve, Victoria or Mike figures (So many people forget that) The list goes on and on :)

Thanks Martin! Koz's hair, Sam3D's freebies, Steveshanks tutorials.. there are just way too many top notch 3D freebies to pick. They are all great in different ways, serving different needs. -Adam

Breaking it down to the most fundamental - the single best freebie I've ever encountered for poser in my entire online experience was - Membership at Renderosity! Without that I'd not only have missed out on all the Freebies I've gotten here, but probably never have stumbled over any of the other sites that offer so much, never gotten all the help I've experienced in the Forums, never have enjoyed the sense of community, the many personal contacts, the several very real and cherished friendships I've made here - If I'd never broken down my own reluctance to join "One of them Online membership things" that first time, I know Poser would just be an occasional toy to play with when I'm completely bored, or needed a quick posture reference for a sketch or painting. ... Hope no-one thinks this is just brown-nosing, but the more I think about it, the more I feel it's true. - My Renderosity membership is the single most meaningful Freebie I've ever encountered on the net. All of you are a part of it, as well as the Mods, Admins, and owners of the site, so; Thank You All! Cheers! Jerry B leather-guy
