Subject: Sharkey's Great White.....allocate more memory....why?

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 3:04 PM · edited Fri, 02 August 2024 at 4:14 PM

I don't understand, I have bigger files in Poser 4 than this, why is it asking me to allocate more memory for poser? and just how do I do that? But the first question....Why? Sharen

JeffH ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 3:09 PM

Probably the file is not installed correctly and gives the out of memory error.

Check the paths for the files carefully.

Okay, back to try this again. Thanks....Sharen

I'm getting the same error message when trying to load Vicki's clothing onto her....I can use the bikini but nothing else. It also does that when trying to load some props also. Can anyone help me please. I have 128MB RAM.

128 Ram is nothing........ try installing more..............

Gort ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 4:23 PM

True, 128 Ram is barely enough to get started, you'll run out fast, as you load things in (with me this usually just causes a hang-up - no message). But isn't Sharon's error message the standard message you get if Poser can't find the obj file? Per JeffH above, I think that's the most likely the problem. Just make sure the obj file is where poser thinks it is.

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 4:32 PM

I have 512 Ram, so I know there is enough, plus some of our own models are even larger and they load fine, I will redo the extraction by hand and make sure they are placed correctly. Sharen

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 4:45 PM

Okay, I did it again and the same message comes up twice, it cannot open the whiteshark.obj....I don't understand why though? I have double checked the placement and read the readme file, saw the cr2 file to check the top line, all looks right? Sharen

TheWanderer ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 4:50 PM

Hi Sharren are you sure you are not having the same problem as ben? try deleting the rsr you never know it might work Dave

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 4:57 PM

I have deleted all the files that were first placed in the folders, I deleted them again after this time didn't work. I deleted the new folders that were created for the new files....I am doing something wrong....I extracted them to a dummy folder the second time so I could see each folder and exact name, then copy and pasted the new folders in the directory listed, still nothing, I just deleted everything again, what could I be doing wrong....do you think the cr2 should be modified, I know that the Runtime/Geometries/sharkeyStuff/WhiteShark/WhiteShark.obj....is a long one, but it still should work right? Sharen

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 4:58 PM

BTW, that title for the Runtime is exactly what it says in the CR2....Sharen

TheWanderer ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 5:33 PM

Hi What I meant, if you did it please forgive me, delete just the rsr file and then save to your library if you get it up and running. This big fish seems to have more problems than most, perhaps it's afraid Chief Brodie is out to get it I had problems try this linkhttp://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=616406 Sorry thats all I can do to help(well sort of :-)) Dave

TalmidBen ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 5:50 PM

I had this problem too. Here's what you do, go into the geometries folder, and then delete the rsr in it. Then it will work fine, and Poser automatically generates this .rsr. Remember, the one in the geometries folder, its a corrupted rsr.

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 5:56 PM

I will try both ways.....thanks for all your help...Sharen

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 6:14 PM
