In light of the fact that there was a whole lot of renewed traffic to his old files (under the old name of "virchual") still on my website, I decided to delete his account and there files therein. Though R'osity isn't my most favoritest site, I respect them and support their efforts when I feel them to be justified. I also refuse to be used as a tool in whatever games Virchual/Bebop/Whatever decide to play against R'osity. Now, if'n y'all don't mind, I'll be goin' back to FaerieWylde, where I never have to do the'Unseelie Admin' side >:( /P

does this mean that we can not download any of bebops freestuff anymore. How does stopping members getting his freestuff make any difference to this situation? very strange action

Not all of it, just whatever he still had left on my server, all of which had been posted numerous times before to R'osity's free stuff. The account had previously been suspended, so this isn't the first time I've been forced to do something about Bebop's immaturity. I refuse to let my bandwidth be used as a toy or as bait or as a pawn in whatever games this poor soul is playing w/ R'osity. Like I said, R'osity isn't where I do my forum stuff anymore, but nonetheless I support their decision to ban him, and will support their efforts to teach this individual that perhaps attention is something he doesn't want after all... How will it help things? Hopefully by cutting off one method by which he thinks he can thumb his nose at R'osity. This is the first, last, and only justification I will give for my actions, unless I get e-mail from Bebop/Virchual/Whomever about it, in which I will repeat what I just said here. /P

Ohhh shi** - to be honest, if I would have unlimited bandwith in my account I would host his files. He has lots of wonderful lacetextures and I love the faeries he does.

I'm really sorry Frederike, but I can't just sit here and watch him use my server as one of his little game pieces in whatever war goes on between him and R'osity. Hell, I've got a lot of his stuff sitting on my personal hard drive.

Besides, I bet you already have all of the ones I hosted anyways... it's older stuff from earlier this year. his account had been suspended since March, and he has not uploaded anything since as far as I know. All of the recent stuff in Free Stuff that links to my site are reposts. Whatever he has on his main Eaglesgift website is prolly still there.

(And to everyone else: Yeah, I know what I said up there, but Puntomaus is a sweet and gentle faerie whom I respect highly, hence the exception.)

You know, his 'closing down' is really convenient - perfect chance for him to use it as yet another manipulation. He's really good at that. I have nothing against him offering free items, but as he has been permanently site-banned, I don't like him offering them here. There are so many great 3d graphics communities, why can't he just forget about this one and move on? Its what I'd do. But I guess thats the logical thing to do.

Now that Renderosity has extended the ban on bebop to include deletion of his freebies & the closure of his website I'm wondering what's going to happen to the people who have been encouraging him to post recently myself included, maybe I'm becoming paranoid in my old age but it seems that anytime the "elite" round here disagree with someone, that person gets a public lynching & each one has gotten progressively worse. So what's goin to happen next? is my harddrive safe from you people? Am I being stupid? no, look up a bit and you'll see penguinisto proudly stating how he deleted a lot of bebops hard work, am I the only one who is reminded of what happened over at 3dcommune by that statement? That doesn't mean I'm accusing penguinisto of what happened over there before anyone starts shouting. I'm in no way defending bebop, he did something wrong and should be punished but that shouldn't include being wiped off the face of the internet. Have you people never heard the expression forgive & forget? turn the other cheek? obviously not or bebop would still have a website with freebies to download.

sigh... Nobody wiped him off the face of the Internet. I took action because he was, if you boil it down, misusing the servers that I control, in part to attack a website that he had been banned from. If he had not tried posting freebies in his attempts to 'get back' at R'osity, then I wouldn't have said so much as 'boo' about it. Incidentally, I'm back because I wanted to mention something: There was an attempted DDoS attack here last night at approximately 9pm MDT. It was very poorly conducted, appeared to have been run by IRC-based script, and because it was rather unable to soak the College's main OC-48 line, it was only noticed by the IT department this morning during logchecks... and has since been squelched. I do not know myself who launched it or why, and I will make no accusation. I merely state its occurrance because the coincidence is a rather close one. Yes it sucks that Bebop's freebies aren't out there any longer. Yes he was damned good at texturing and modelling. But no, I refuse to put my own servers in jeopardy with the school administration if R'osity decided to complain, which would be within their rights to do. I refuse to be a co-conspirator in this mess. This decision I made on my own, and it will stand until Bebop can learn to behave himself, three months hence at least. Why? because there are too many other artists who use these servers, and I have to put their needs over the interests and the petty desires for revenge of a single disgruntled ex-R'osity member. Summfox is right - there are too many other communities ( 3D Commune, PoserPros, Animotions, even Renderotica and Thralldom, just to name a few.) I'm not exactly what you would call a shill for R'osity. I no longer post in the fora here, save for this one incident in which my servers were involved. I shan't be posting here once this dies down. However, they are right in enforcing their policies, and if anyone is to blame here, it is Bebop himself. It was his behaviour that drew my attention to this mess, and it was his behavior that got him banned. I don't care how he spins it on his site, that's just the way it happened. Incidentally, c1rcle, I understand what you're trying to say, but the 3dc situation is completely different. (and I know you're not accusing me of anything, so fear not :) ) 3D Commune's free stuff is a database of pointers... this wee server cluster of mine is where a lot of it points to. No one is stopping Bebop from finding a new community. If he shows up at PoserPros, I will welcome him (though the ban here still stands until he cleans the mess up) Now folks, this really is the last I'm going to say in the matter. I urge you to let it die, as I intend to. /P

I see what you're saying penguin if he was trying to attack rosity using your servers it would leave you open to all sorts of trouble because of it. I wish I could edit my last post :) I'll leave it there so people can see I'm totally p

I wish ppl would let this die. At the moment there is a witch hunt going on in the poser forum. well. with that obseravtion I hereby quit the forums on this site. I've seen places like this go when the mods and admins stop caring and let the flames get to much. Now I see renderosity go the same way. farewell.

I was trying to say I'm dropping it & retracting all my statements, I've read too much into what happened as usual, penguin what you did was only right considering what was going on, you can't let your server be used as a staging ground for attacks on other sites or you're the one who gets it in the neck. kai don't leave because of this, I'm sure the mods & admins do care & they try to stop flame wars from starting as much as possible.
