As a Mac person, I am weeping more--or at least for much longer!--than both of you put together.....I want that HAIR....(sob) (sniffle)

LOL, you are correct Patricia, I feel for you, but let's get down to the question, png's and rsr's or just png's ????

wdupre ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 12:56 PM

jeez, supporting both would be helpful, I'd hate to generate png's for my whole library, but I guess that would be a small price to pay for a new library system.

I assume if you upgraded it would generate them for you right, take the rsr and make them into png, but my problem is converting them back again to rsr's, P3Dexplorer doesn't quite work well for me...Sharen

Hi Sharen, I asked the same question awhile back, and Kupa's answer was Poser 5 would use PNG's like the Pro Pack. Link to the original thread is attached... Spectre

Thanks for your help.....Sharen

Okay now that I know that, what happens to those people who don't use png, I use both png in pro and rsr in Poser 4, but what of those who don't have both and they can't use rsr's?

SAMS3D ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 3:11 PM

I guess what I am really asking is, how do you apply the png's to work in Poser 4?

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 4:42 PM

My usual answer is to convert the png's to rsr with P3dO Explorer, but since it isn't working well for you ... ask someone really nicely to convert them for you? Or keep a bare-bones version of Poser 4.03 installed on your system, with most of the content removed, for the singular purpose of rsr creation. I'd happily volunteer for occasional conversion duty. It's the least I could do to help, after all you've contributed to the community.

I normally do a 91 x 91 render of whatever I want to make into an RSR, and save it as a PIC file. I then delete the alpha channel in the PIC and use RSR Converter to turn the PIC file into an RSR. I then distribute the RSR and Pro Pack creates it's own PNG from it. Straight P4 uses the RSR. If P5 doesn't convert the RSR into a PNG like Pro Pack, you could also save the 91 x 91 render as a PNG and distribute it along with the converted RSR.... I have distributed both in the past, and since the file size of each is about 12k, it's normally no problem. RSR converter can be downloaded from the attached link. Hope that helps :) Spectre

I can't thank you all enough for the help, I just don't want to leave the people high and dry, I think I will do it both ways, I just downloaded that file Spectre and hopes I can learn it, but if I can't I will be back for answers from you, thanks again so much for the help.....you are all such great pals....Sharen :-)

Sharen, following your mail I updated Rsr2Png this weekend. With that release the transparent RSR bug is fixed and there's an automatic 91x91 crop (no need to start from a 91x91 picture). It is available in freestuff. Yarp

I just downloaded the updated and give it a try, thank you. Sharen

yarp ( ) posted Fri, 09 August 2002 at 11:45 AM

You're welcome, hope it'll be ok that time. Anyway it's a bit late, with the arrival of P5 the RSR pictures need is gonna die progressively. btw I should have told you before of the Rsr2Png update, sorry for the delay. When I saw your thread I realized I had forgot to do this. I'm a bit overwhelmed with projects those days, sorry again.
