Subject: maclean's props are polluting the net again!

Also posted at 3D Commune After beating off The Attack of the Killer Mutant Hacker From Planet Zorg, my props are now available once again from 3D Commune Freestuff (what do you mean you're not a member?? Go join at once!!). Anyway, since lots of you Renderositans use 'em too, I thought I'd let y'all know. And, as an exciting bonus, never-to-be-forgotten, once-in-a-lifetime, extra, only-with-this-product, special offer bargain, some of the props have actually been improved! Yes! Difficult to believe, but it's true! Now you can download a second version of your favorite prop and have hours of fun trying to figure out what the difference is between it and the first version! And then spend hours more trying to remember which is which! This is actually part of a cunning plan to clog up the hard drives of the world's computers with junk by getting you to download everything twice. But I doubt if it will work. World domination is still a long way away. It isn't easy being a wannabe dictator..... She's my soft-touch typewriter. And I'm the Great Dictator....." - The one-and-only Elvis (Costello, that is. Not that fat slob from Memphis) List of modified props 3d alphabet - lighter file size audrey hepburn hat - Remade completely boater hat - now all-in-one prop floppy hat - Remade completely hair-drier - Now with morphing cable hippie headband - Now a posable cr2 figure fem jars 'n' bottles - Lighter file sizes and new bottles added. jewellery pack - was a bunch of single props. Now all-in-one, plus (much) lighter file sizes prop-o-rama 1 - lighter file size school hat - now all-in-one prop secretary glasses - lighter file size straw hat - now all-in-one prop Plus assorted updates to the readmes, some of them tolerably amusing. Well....in my opinion anyway. Well....maybe they're not really....hmmm....probably not at all, in fact. Oh well, I was bored. NB : All the other props are the same old garbage. I'd appreciate being informed if anyone had trouble downloading or gets a bum zip. Enjoy (if you can) mac

Yay!! I was hopeing to get my props replaced since I lost a bunch after a misshape with my HD. :(

maclean: I went over to look at your hats. I need a certain type of hat and can't find it. Are there any quickie tutorials on modelling hats (I model like hell) but I'd like to give it a shot. Thanks for any help movida

Head band improved, my hippies will be pleased, and readme files updated, oh wow, must make sure I don't have a drink in hand when I unzip these files.

I've got to go get those zips just for the readme files :) Rob

Xena ( ) posted Sun, 18 August 2002 at 4:35 AM

Hell, I'm getting 'em again just for the updated read me's ;) Oh crap, that's what Rob just said LOL

c1rcle ( ) posted Sun, 18 August 2002 at 4:46 AM

lol it's worth saying twice :)

maclean ( ) posted Sun, 18 August 2002 at 9:47 AM

Heh! Don't break a leg trying to d/l the stuff for the readmes. I just threw in a few extra lines. Still, thanks for all the enthusiasm. Movida (name of an Italian band I once photographed) I have no idea where to find a tute on hat modelling. I just mess around until I beat them into shape. What modelling app do you have? Or what hat do you want? (Not promising anything here, but you never know) mac

maclean: thanks for the reply, I have Lightwave (yes, I know, I need to spend 3 months in the "Model, Surface & Light" book, but I'm very short time-wise so use it mostly for rendering and reworking stuff.

Anyway, I really don't want anyone to do it for me (got to start sometime) but I've tried morphing various hats and the brims fall apart. Here's what I want to model

FishNose ( ) posted Sun, 18 August 2002 at 1:51 PM

OMG, Nooooo! Not this!! This means the overall quality of everything on the web diminishes by 90% in one go! Mac's stuff is back, it's worse than the black plague, I tell you! Aaaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhhhh FishNose

FishNose ( ) posted Sun, 18 August 2002 at 1:54 PM

'Fat slob from Memphis!' Oh, that's hilarious!! Hahahahahahaaaa! HahaFishhahaNose

c1rcle ( ) posted Sun, 18 August 2002 at 2:08 PM

why would I want to read anything written by mac while I was sober? I have no real grasp of reality even when I am sober, "best read with your eyes open" classic :D Rob (nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more)

maclean ( ) posted Sun, 18 August 2002 at 6:18 PM

Movida, I know nothing about Lightwave. Cooler's the LW man. I use 3D max. I dunno....if I had to model that hat...(is that Faye Dunawaye?)....I'd probably start out with a basic tube for the brim then use Free Form Deformers to bend it into shape. Then match it up with a booleaned shape for the head part....Or maybe not... LOL Sorry to be vague, but I don't even know Lw's tools. Maybe a lathed shape first, then deformed... mac

cooler ( ) posted Sun, 18 August 2002 at 7:07 PM

since mac is taking my name in vain again I suppose I should respond.... Movida you can, using the objects---> pen tool, sketch in points a rough outline of 1/2 the shape of the hat then lathe it to get the basic shape... from there is would just be a matter of the magnet & bend tools if you wanted to do it all in lightwave or Poser magnets if you wanted to spawn morphs to deform the brim.

Thanks guys *s* got this saved

Yes maclean it's Faye Dunaway in Chinatown. I'm working on a character for DinaV, a lot of work, about 15 head morphs *hit canned g, and now I've got to do the hat lmao

Anyway here's the head as it stand now...much more to do especially on the nose

movida ( ) posted Sun, 18 August 2002 at 8:11 PM

Forgot to mention, it's the "Giselle" texture from HSS Thanks again, See ya!

maclean ( ) posted Mon, 19 August 2002 at 5:43 PM

Great movie. I don't remember the hat tho'. Sometimes I see stuff on TV too and just model it. Or hit 'rec' on the video and go back to it later. (If I ever remember, that is!) mac
