Subject: Reflection Maps with Trans Maps

is it possible to use reflection and trans maps at the same time? the areas that are supposed to be invisible are made partially visible by the reflection map. this is also true if the highlight color isnt set to absolute black. is there a workaround for this?

I'm not sure if it works, but I think you'll have to have a reflection map that matches the transmap, so that the invisible parts of the transmap are black on the transmap as well. This way it outta work, but I can't try it as I 'm at work, without Poser :o(

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Reflection maps aren't "mapped" like textures, so that won't work. However, if you make the part of the texture that's supposed to be transparent black as well, that should keep it from reflecting, I think.

I would have thought that FyreSpiryt's suggestion would work, but I tried it and texture map doesn't seem to make any difference. I did some quick experiments, the best combination seems to be "Multiply through lights" un-ticked, "Multiply through object color" ticked.

I only tried this on a Poser square, they don't take well to reflection maps, so it's hard to judge the result.

A few experiments later. I think it's probably best to tick both "Multiply through lights" and "Multiply through object color".
