YOU STILL DONT GET IT"
What is the meaning of this? If you mean that we don't get the fact that These men Were HEROES You're sorely mistaking my kind sir,the fact alone that these men went into those buildings and went up one one hundred something flights to get people out of the building, makes them more than heroes. Thans to those man and women many lives were saved, just knowing this makes me feel proud to be an AMERICAN.
Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.
Happy 9-11. It may sound absurd at first. To remember the worst attack on America since Perl Harbor with the word happy. Your first instinct might be to take offence even. As I reflect on the first year anniversary of the 9-11, I know that happy is exactly the right phrase to use. A year ago today we all sat staring at our TV sets, watching with horror and disbelief, watching the skies with paranoia. We watched people die. True. But we also watched as we came together as a nation. There were no colored people at the WTC. Everyone was Grey. There were no Religions at the WTC only compassion. One act of hate, for at least a moment, had ended all hate, for at least a moment. It wasnt just Americas and New Yorks Finest hour, but the worlds. From the firefighters who started doing their job, and would forever become our heroes, to the people who sat at home and just passed on messages. We the people came together. We all wanted to do something, and in just wanting to help we all reached inside ourselves and touch a piece of our heart we usually keep locked away. We all did help. From the men who sacrificed their lives, to the people from other nations who just ICQed any one from New York. Today, many of us may watch our TV but we are not afraid. Today we will not look to the skies in fear, but with determination. Today we will recapture that feeling of solidarity, and compassion. I can't think of any responce that more flagrantly and obnoxiously defiles the intent of the terrorists than make Today a day of Celebration. It's hard. Honestly... I've been weird ever since midnight when I was sitting in a Farscape Chat room and realized that it was one year ago today. But living well is the best revenge. So I'm going to Starbucks's later for a frapachino. I'm playing my music loud. Maybe I'll buy some one lunch. I going to enjoy this day... and every time I feel a little depressed I'm going to picture Bin Ladin and a horde of his losers hiding in some basement or cave, in darkness, afraid. Then I'm gunna smile and party. Those who stand up to fear... drive it into the ranks of their enemy. My quote of the day is... "I'm Still Standing, better than I ever did. Lookin' like a true survivor. feeling like a little kid." -Sir Elton John. Now and for the rest of my days, 9-11 will be a day we dont take for granted. We will all live a little better as a memorial to those died. We will touch that part of our heart again. We think about others. Today, we will remember, but I will not remember a tragedy. I will remember our finest hour, and I will be happy.
Ratteler - I don't know if I can say it any more eloquently than what you did. By celebrating our lives, those who were saved and those who were lost, we say to those who would harm us, we will not go quietly into the night. My blessings to everyone. May American remain the land of the free and the home of the brave.
We had an Italian telling us in rather comic and convuluted English that we had to organise into teams so that we still had support during the 3 mins silence today :) My condolences to those that lost people, especially the little people, the chefs, waiters, janitors & security guards, who's families probably don't have firms like Cantor to bail them out. I'm still at work, partialy to get a couple of drives working, but mostly to avoid the dross on TV. later jb
I doubt even if they knew how lacking the equipment was it would have stopped them from trying to save as many lives as possible. They are heroes, as are all who place their lives in danger to save others. And what don't we get? That on that day we remembered we live in a great nation? That, as a nation, as one, on that day, we realized how fragile life is and how important our loved ones are, and how soon they can be taken from us? That we found our courage, pride, and strength to stand together to protect what we feel is important, our freedom and our way of life. That we found there are greater things than fulfilling our own small selfish needs and to look at the bigger things in life, the things that really matter. That on that day, we learned how feel the anguish of others and how to be a little kinder and a little more understanding and to offer our strength to help support them. These are some of the things I GET from September 11th. Goddess Bless America!
...and please don't forget the heroism and bravery of those on flight 93. They took the plane back. They VOTED to take that plane back. Say what you will about Americans, when it comes down to it they step up to the plate; from our leaders, to our fire and police persons to the everyday citizen. I am proud so proud of Americans. Bless all those who lost and were lost. All America misses them.
-Cries at her table remembering the days events of september 11th- Let all those that lost loved ones and were affected by that days events have peace and all our love that we can spare! I love you all and i love you America and all that we stand for!

For one day, one hour, one minute of silence, the world was as it should be - we were one. I also want to echo my voice of appreciation for the worldwide sentiment and comforting that the US and those affected on that fateful day recieved. Although I wept at the loss of life and the ensuing battle to try to save life, I think what touched me the deepest was the international response. Sure, some countries used it as a means of airing their political agendas, but the overwhelming response from the worldwide community after the fact restored a long lost respect in me for humanity as a whole. Even on this day, a year later, countries the world over shared in our remembrance of what happened. Perhaps, out of the rubble we will see the dawning of a new day - when all of humanity can set aside petty differences and truely live as one.

A moment of silence in rememberance to those victims and heros who passed one year ago today. God Bless TMG
