Weird looking render ... did you posterize the time on it to get the file-size down, or render at a low FPS or something? Her movements are very jerky. I also notice a lot of weird things happening with the dress around her upper chest and shoulders. Was collision detection on? Just curious, what render mode were you using? -Tim

Thanks for taking a look... I agree with Tim on all of his points, however "Dancer" was a "study" and I wasn't aiming for perfection in resolution, rendering, etc. Strictly trying to get a handle on learning the workings of P5 - perhaps later when I get efficient at the basic mechanics I will do something that will make Tim proud.There were a number of glitches in "Dancer" (including the ones Tim mentions) that I intend to iron out as I continue my P5 education. Some of the posts in the forum seem to be folks encouraging others with things they are learning with the new software and where it can go (which I find pretty encouraging)... I have seen quite a few that are shining examples of unblemished perfection in rendering, textures and apparently perfect in every way, so we know that can be achieved.
Meanwhile, Tim, you are welcome to visit my web site... animation and letting the computer draw for me per se is not my main line... but perhaps you will get a chuckle out of some of the nonsense posted there.

Nate: Sorry, if I came across as critical ... I wasn't criticizing you, but the P5 software really. (Other than the posterized-time of the animation that is.) I've seen a lot of bizarre results utilizing the Firefly (aka Stoned Slug, FireFlake) renderer, and was curious as to what settings you used, which may have caused the anomolies. I realized it was a test, but again was curious if collison detection was turned on and P5 wasn't handling it correctly, or what. Keep up the good work and keep experimenting ... it's the only way to learn.

The render was just the p4 (not FireFly or any of those other ones)for the jpeg at the top of this thread. For the movie, I just made a straight "render as display settings" rather than even use the p4 render. I let the windows default codex fly at 75% quality. (It was 4am and I kept passing out at my keyboard from sleep deprivation - dang new software!)
As for collision detection, I just let the collisions set up in the cloth room do their thing... wasn't sure whether to turn on the other or not... that's another test for another time. I excuded everything from collision except the chest/torso area, hips, butts and thighs.
This was a site better than some other attempts I had made, but perhaps I posted too early without perfecting the process first. I'm open to suggestions - as we all know there are no specific tuts for this yet other than the manual and what came with the program (I am not familiar with those other programs - Max - etc that use similar cloth setups as mentioned in another thread)... so my process is trial and error with the errors winning most of the time.
Thanks for the comments, everyone - maybe some other folks will post what they are up to and we can move ahead.

Tim... I forgot... the fps was only 8. Jerky, yes... but too many frames needed for 30fps at 4am.. =8^)
