I think CL should as a sign of their genuine remorse (words are cheap after all) begin work instantly (in DAZ style) on a new free mesh, exclusive for us aggrieved Europeans. The model?? Our one legged Irishman of course_ complete with (non-functioning) dynamics, a circular walk mode and a conforming bottle of guiness

It's amazing how one simple thread has turned into the comedy club..lol...seriously though a big round of applause for the CL folk...thanks for filling us in Tori, nobody is seriously annoyed, frustrated maybe but we have total faith you really...just not the one legged Irish drunk who can't swim, read a map or pedal a bike...lol...I'm going to miss that Paddy ;O)

I asked 2 software shops in or near Manchester (UK) and they hadn't heard of Poser 5.

BrianR ( ) posted Wed, 18 September 2002 at 6:32 PM

Doesn't surprise me, I think the only places that stocked Poser 4 were dabs.com & computers unlimited, I dare say it will be the same with version 5.

I wonder how much B.S. people are going to take before they start demanding their money back! ya`ll get screwed and yet applaud CL for "at least" responding .......... only on the net ............

And guess who was doing the shipping to Europe.

A I R B O R N E

I bet!

A company already noted for their extensive delivery cock-ups in the US. But this one takes the Oscar.

No we get DHL in the UK, & Cozmic it's not CL screwing us just a simple mistake that could happen anywhere, they haven't taken our money yet so we haven't been screwed at all. Rob

sorry but I'm not paying to spend the next 2 weeks 8 hrs a day downloading poser5, I want it on a cd in a box with a proper printed manual.

quixote ( ) posted Thu, 19 September 2002 at 7:02 AM

A fluffer? Since we can fluff a pillow. I suspect that this has something to do whith whatever some males fluff and stuff down the front of their pants. I wouldn't know, of course. I'm French. Q

Ok c1rcle, you're right! It only was an proposition, a lot of people have a DSL connection.

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 19 September 2002 at 8:08 AM

I agree it would be a good idea for people with Broadband/DSL/Cable, but for the people on relatively slow connections it would be a real nightmare, I remember the days when I was using a 28k modem & downloading anything larger than 1Mb was a whole day with the modem tied up. Apologies if I seemed a bit blunt earlier, wasn't intended :)

Wombat ( ) posted Thu, 19 September 2002 at 10:12 AM

Hm..Download..hm.. I remember what happened the time I was buying Truespace. They send me the Box and there was a downloadlink for me too with a special serialnumber emailed to me. So I could work with the software instead of waiting nervous for the box on the snail. But I think the problem with poser would be that it is a little bigger as truespace. And not all have DSL. Greetings from Germany Thomas

BrianR ( ) posted Thu, 19 September 2002 at 11:02 AM

well I have cable but I still want a boxed cd & manual

enax ( ) posted Thu, 19 September 2002 at 11:38 AM

Yes Thomas, with Truespace I started working immediately, and few days later (Caligari don't have distribution problems) I received the CD with the manual. Certainly P5 must be bigger than Truespace and CL site is slow (in my case) for downloads, a few moments ago I downloaded the P5 manual, 3,26 Mb in 3'42" this is 15,04 Kb/second, and the transfer rate for my connection are, normally, 24 Kb/sec. If P5 has 100Mb this, for me, with CL site transfer rate, represents 1h 53'. I would download it.

PS: Hi Rob, no matter. I understand you.

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 19 September 2002 at 12:33 PM

Can't remember who but someone mentioned a 500Mb download for poser5, if I could guarantee not losing the connection to the site half way through I'd consider it, but even with cable modem it still does that sometimes on large files, I tried to download the demo of Worldbuilder, but had to give up after 3 failed attempts, got about halfway each time & lost connection.

c1rcle ( ) posted Mon, 23 September 2002 at 10:10 AM

where's the pedalo at today?

BrianR ( ) posted Mon, 23 September 2002 at 10:53 AM

Bloody North Pole I think...& now he's got no legs at all & a frozen paddle!!!!!

c1rcle ( ) posted Mon, 23 September 2002 at 11:07 AM

Isn't that where the Aliens have their UFO base? the boxes are there to have the code changed so that when run Poser5 takes complete control of our PC's & stops us all from going to any sites that are not part of CP, me paranoid? no that's just what my enemies want you to think. Rob

BrianR ( ) posted Mon, 23 September 2002 at 11:18 AM

After all this banter Poser5 is going to seem pretty dull....& there'll be no more pedalo..no more one legged Irishman...& the guinness will be drunk dry...mind you we could have weeks yet ;O)

c1rcle ( ) posted Mon, 23 September 2002 at 12:26 PM

I bet the guys at CL are praying that those boxes get delivered really soon so we'll shut up finally ;)

noggin ( ) posted Mon, 23 September 2002 at 3:41 PM

Another week passes....and passes....farce to fiasco....Paris to Moscow... Moscow to Moo-cow (the one legged Irishman plods across the Tundra.....I wundra where my Poser iz...la di da...sings happily, rocking backward and forwards in the corner, loosing grip on reality....

ilr ( ) posted Tue, 24 September 2002 at 12:03 AM

Not so funny any more. Anybody can tell me where I can replenish my humour resources?

noggin ( ) posted Tue, 24 September 2002 at 1:55 AM

Yep sorry ilr its getting harder to find the humour in the situation. The whole shambles does make one worry about the future of CL. I know the shipping fiasco was not their fault but one can't help thinking that someone like Adobe would have kicked butt and we'd have had our P5 two weeks ago by chartered flight. I guess if you are running on a shoestring you haven't got that sort of clout. Still got to keep it in perspective_ we aren't going to die through the late delivery of Poser!

ilr ( ) posted Tue, 24 September 2002 at 2:12 AM

Chartered flight? Hmmm... Let me think... How much they want now for the cheapest transatlantic second hand airplane? 1 million, 2 millions. It's nothing comparing to the possibility to hold the precious P5 box. :-) Anybody from Europe wants to participate? :-) Sorry, It's a despair... "From Russia with... Poser"

c1rcle ( ) posted Tue, 24 September 2002 at 2:12 AM

well it's not as if we haven't got a version of poser already to play with till the new one finally arrives.

BrianR ( ) posted Tue, 24 September 2002 at 2:59 AM

Apparrently Paddy was giving his rendition of the River Dance outside a pub in Red Square...forgot about the one leg problem & knocked himself out when he slipped on the ice...when he woke up he'd forgotten where he left his pedalo & had to get word to CL by carrier pigeon... CL have now dispatched a satallite (carrier pigeon with binoculars) to search for the pedalo and Paddy may need to look for employment elsewhere if & when he gets back....which could be some time. This is getting really sad....sorry :O)
