  1. Curious Labs site Up/Down/Up/Down/Up 2. Has anyone found the waterfall.jpg that the manual specifically refers to as part of their tutorial? This was asked earlier and received no response from CL (as far as I can tell). What the F*** is up with CL CUSTOMER support? 3. DAZ apparently doesn't want to sell anything because their store is completely screwed up. First you have to use a password that they have apparently assigned without telling me and then when I get it and try to log in the program tells me nothing is in the in-basket - No matter how many ways I try to buy the football package. 4. Is there a skirt clothing prop that actually fits Judy? The P4 skirt doesn't seem to fit and CL in their infinite wisdom appears to not have included it in P5.

1 - I am not aware that the site has been down at all over the last week or so. We did have some issues due to extremely heavy traffic. Our IT Manager is aware of this and is monitoring the situation. 2 - We will make the image available as soon as possible. Customer Service has been inundated with emails and Tori is doing her utmost to answer everyone as quickly as possible. Further, we are (as far as I know) bringing on additional help to address the workload. 3 - I cannot and will not comment on anything DAZ 4 - Additional content will, I believe, be made available soon. In the meantime, the dynamic lcothing does fit Judy. Anthony Hernandez Curious Labs

Give Daz time. I've heard the store was having problems but their customer service is wonderful. The new password thing was a bit of a pain especially since I can't find a way to customize it to something I'll remember but the changes they've made are great. I like being able to find my order history now. :)

I have had no problems at Daz as of late. I know they have been upgrading their site. Ron

DAZ's site is totally screwed up for me. I have been trying to get in all week. They haven't even emailed me a password. And I am not happy about their demanding a phone number with the registration. I get quite enough 'phone spam' as it is. I tried to order the new daz dragon and see what the free dragon download was. I got an add for scuba gear for $24. Not exactly a dragon. They REALLY need to get a webmaster and a web designer who knows what they are doing. This isn't the first time that site has been messed up. I haven't been able to take advantage of any free offers or any specials now in several months. Anyone got this "wonderful" customer service email? So far I have yet to hear from anyone. I'm about to write daz off. :(

Okay, I read Anthony's response. Under 4 he says that the dynamic clothing does fit Judy. It doesn't for me so I must be doing something wrong 1. Load Judy Nude 2. Go to Props/Dynamic Clothing/Female 3. Load P5WomanSkirtMorphable_1 4. P5WomanSkirtMorphable_1 does not apparently fit as the legs show through the front of the skirt. 5. Spent 30 minutes trying to adjust skirt to be shorter and to actually fit Judy. No luck. 6. Has anyone else had any luck making adjustments? I would like the skirt to fit at about 1/3 thigh length and fit all the way around. 7. When you move the thigh (e.g. flex 75 degrees) is the skirt supposed to follow or is that not a property of Dynamic Clothing? 8. I gave up on this for a while so I loaded Don Nude. 9. Loaded Clothing-P5 Male 10. Loaded and Conformed P5MaleChinos 11. Loaded and Conformed P5MaleTShirt 12. TShirt is partially tucked in and partially out 13. Spent another 30 min. trying to figure out how to get the shirt to fit properly. 14. I have given up for the moment. 15. I go back to P1. I can't believe P5 is this difficult to use. Maybe I'm having a bad day. 16. Any suggests you have to relieve my frustrations would be appreciated.

If you enter the email you used for your original account in the login page and ten click the forgoten password link (err - I've forgotten the exact wording, but it should be obvious) they will automatically send you the randomly assigned password for your new account, which you can change from the account page - I think it was just there, but there may have been a further link. You do seem to lose your basket contents if you fill it before logging in, but if you (re)fill it after logging in and then click the "continue to checkout" button under the total cost entry at the bootom of the page you should be able to part with your lolly.

I had problems with the Daz store using Mac/Explorer (Mac/Netscape was OK), but that was fixed this week. A few popup windows for various products are missing, but overall the new store works well for me. I've always had great customer service from them, so give them a chance and they'll correct any problems.

Good News: Went back and based on above information was finally able to get football player. I don't know how I did it. I just kept playing around with getting in different ways and it finally worked. Bad News: At the bottom of the Daz football player information page are some "textures Template". When I click on ac333T.exe I get a "Page cannot be found" message. Bad News: According to RbtWhiz at Daz, Daz packaged the football player incorrectly and there are some missing/not functioning parts.

See thread at attached link. Specifically, Willdial's: "I just tested this. Once you have loaded the dynamic clothing item (beach dress). Go to the cloth room, create new simulator, set collisions and then hit 'calculate simulation' Poser 5 will drap the clothing over and around the body. That is the quick and dirty explanation. " NOTE: an alternative to "calculate simulation" is to open Simulation Settings, set "Drape Frames" to 1, and hit "Calculate Drape". -- ToolmakerSteve

If you read the manual it tells you to do what Jeff did. Ron

RE:
"Bad News:

There are no "missing" parts, rather, there are two poses included that need to be replaced. One, "Quarterback Pass" somehow lost the upper half of the torso in the pz2. The other, "Full Bore", causes Poser to hang. Both will be replaced with corrected versions of said files. I'll also be building a few extra poses (on my own time) to pass out along with the update...

If you'd like to temporarily fix the "Full Bore" pose yourself, so you can use it until the update is posted (likely Monday) it is a very simple change... in a text editor, open the pz2 and change the very last character, at the very bottom of the file (line #2853), from "{" to "}".

Ron, "If you read the manual it tells you to do what Jeff did." What part of the manual is that? Would be good to be familiar with all the alternatives. :) What I see is on p.133 "Poser 5 Clothing", which says how to do it using the Cloth Room... --ToolmakerSteve

Sorry about that I should have been more specific. There is the printed manual and the online manual. It should be a pdf file called "Poser 5 Reference Manual". It should be in your Poser 5 folder where the exe is. It is the printed manual for the most part but with changes that did not make the printed version. You can also access this manual in Poser 5 under the help drop down. It is on page 131 of this manual. Not in the best place. It should be under the chapter related to cloth I think and is not real clear. There is a reference also on page 246 Printed manual and 252 pdf one. Its under "Start Draping From Zero Pose". The other thing you want to do is make sure to parent the prop if its clothing to a body part or gravity will screw up your sim. I read that in one of the two manuals but cant find it now. Anyway for the skirt above parent it to the hip before you run your sim. Hope this helps in some way. If you have any other questions please ask. I am sure some one here or I will be glad to answer them. Once you get through the first one it is pretty easy after that. You might also search here. There have been some good post about how to do it. Ron

Ron, Thanks.

I think Poser 5 needs a new Book... where's Shamms.... There is just a bunch of stuff...I've read the manual pretty much through..and have reread portions, but sure can't remember anything about how to make dynamic clothing fit :) Maybe I need one of those reading comprehension classes or something.

Yes, the PDF is a more complete version of the manual than the printed one. Changes were made after the printing deadlines.

ronmolina ( ) posted Sun, 22 September 2002 at 7:02 AM

Dave The PDF manual is more complete and gives you a few hints not in the printed manual. If you remember when you installed there was a readme file that said some items did not make it in the printed manual that are in the PDF one. Ron
