Have you noticed anomalies when rendering your characters or props in Poser5? Below is a character Im working on one render was done in P4 one in P5 with the exact same render settings yet in the P5 render there is a flaw with the beak which looks normal in P4 and looked fine when I first modeled it in Rhino. Any ideas on this, I mean its kind of a pain in the you know what to go through hours of modeling to get every thing perfect just to do your first render and find a flaw that shows up no where else but in the application you want to use.

I can't really see it to clearly from the picture . Does it look like a missing polygon ? I noticed this on the new DAZ dragon , that when rendered some of the polygons would not render . I think I adjusted the pixel sample setting to 4 to get rid of it .

backfacing polygons could be the problem, try switching off the remove option in render settings

I had the same problem with the antelope pack from DAZ. I'll try removing backfacing polygons to see if that helped me.

The Poser5 render was done with the Poser4 render option so in my thinking it should be the same as the other. The other render was done in Poser4 pro pack. I switched to Fire Fly render and tried the suggestions so far and got the same result. For some reason the beak looks different when rendered in Poser5. This is the Fire Fly render.

heyas; you mean that dark area along the lower tip of the beak looks darker in the firefly render? did you try it without a texture map? i noticed firefly was much more picky about the texture maps it was rendering, much sharper with them. so much more sharp that seams that used to match up don't match up any more. that was annoying. the poser and firefly rendering engines ARE different, and will give different looks. oh, is that the pro pack render and the p5 p4 render? did you do a p4 draft render or a p4 final render? well, they did something to make the two different varieties; so i expect the p4 render engine is not the same in p5 as it was in p4/ppp. but i dunno. i'd try it with no texture map.
