Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 11 2:16 pm)
Ack - I feel your pain. I hate it when I waste money on a product >_< . It's like buying a really cool action figure, and then having his arm fall off when you open the package. Poser 5 works for some, and for others it doesn't. On my machine it seems to render just fine - and you have a faster computer than I do, so I don't see what would be holding you up. Maybe Poser is 'bottle-necking' somewhere - It could just be another kink they're going to work out of the program. I don't think you've wasted your money though - it may seem like it right now, but give it a while. That's what I did, and the patch worked for me. Obviously they have more patching to do.
You are right...man, send me some of those positive spirits :) I feel like a yo-yo....up and down, round and round... This P5 has been one hilly ride so far....but mainly downhill for me... although I am progressing in my hair designs..but can't see the end result :(

Dave, what I think you need is a good breakthrough to happen to you. Mine was figuring out why I was getting those Caught exception C errors. and then testing and proving (At least to my system) that I had a real soulution. With me it was getting the firefly to work with my characters. Last night I figured it out and was able to end the day on a up note. Since then, I've posted an image. and rendered then thing the way i wanted and got the shot. For me it turned out to be Nipple bump maps, take em off and presto! P5 does a good thing for me and really work. So My suggestion to you is go after the one thing you want from poser and get that bull roped. Once you got it, then the rest should not feel like such an uphill fight.
thanks for the uplift :) I keep plugging away, feeling pretty good, and then BAM !!!! Something else weird happens....then I get ticked off, and write posts here complaining.... Then I get positive and start plugging away again...then BAM !!!! then more posts here.... Maybe I'll take your suggestion and try the bull raping thing...

Please forgive me, Dave-So, I don't mean to make light of the troubles you're suffering, but, "Bull raping??!!!" Man, you're braver than I thought! If you meant to put that slant on Lalverson's suggestion, at least you've kept your sense of humor, which is good. If it was a typo, well, you've just made my morning! I have this twisted, absurd image of a steer walking funny and having an odd grimace.
Tempt the Hand of Fate and it'll give you the "finger"!
It was an inserted "a" on purpose :) I was hoping someone would see it.... I'm just a sick cookie at heart...

If it's 3 - 4 MB, I can handle the attachment. If you want, I can upload it to my site for Kagato98 (and/or someone else) to test. One issue - your file doesn't have any 3d party products, like Vicki 2, does it? I don't think you could send the file off if it does because the .pz3 file contains some of the morph information. Vicki 1 or Mike 1 would be okay, because you need the .obj file, but not Vic 2, Mike 2, Steph or Aiko. Cheers! ... and make sure you get the correct end of the bull ....
Actually, I think I figured out what the deal is...there actually was displacement mapping in the hair materials...turned that off...much better..... So, it was as CL said...but I didn't put it there...the node was set up using some kind off hair texture file.

Poser 5 is NOT FUN....I spend tons of time tweaking stuff, then try to do a test render...I might as well go to bed and come back tomorrow....but that's not my idea of creation or working on a project.... I want to see how its coming along, but multiple hour test renders just don't quite hack it. I've turned down all the stuff in the render options to try and speed things up...but I'm mainly experimenting with the hair, but its TOTALLY USELESS TRYING IT!!! This is what I bought P5 for--the hair, face room, and dynamic cloth...but if it takes all day to do a test render, it isn't useable to me. I sent a pz3 file to Curious that was 16meg...it had displacement mapping and hair. It would not render...They replied back that the displacement had to be turned off for it to work..what good is that ???? Yes, I've been told that I hate P5, which is not true...I really want to love it...but I can't at this time. I'm afraid I have wasted my money on this product. And, yes, that's all I'm doing is bitching about this P5---but quite honestly, I don't have much to cheer about to this time.
