Don't get me wrong.I really believe Curious Labs and Co.will fix things......I PRAY,LOL.BUT,when it can't render a simple animation,I get upset.I have a DELL P3,WinXP,Over 350 Ram,and lotsa HD,with NVideo GForce,so it is not my system.I just want to use my new program!:).I hope these issues are worked out.The other thing that worried me is after all the fixes, how much of the manual will I be able to understand?I am retarded enough!(I DO READ it by the way, lol.)
Actually considering the errors in the released manual I think a rewrite could be helful but after more fixes so all settings match accordingly. An online version and a downloadable manual would be nice. When they adress more issues like the firefly rendering bug, and possible increases in texture resolution in the face room, as well as tonal node matching of custom face to attached body, this will make the program worth it. Oh and of course the frustrating issues that some of us are having like room crashes, render freezups, etc. Once this is all working nicely then a PP type plugin would be in order. Next week, another patch....I for one can hardly wait.
I ditto Turtle's comments. I have a 2.4 GHx P4 with 2 gigs of RAM and a GeoForxe 4 TI4600 video card. P5 is so slow in so many simple tasks, locks up over the eimplest things and has screen redraw problems galore. I can't imagine how people with less powerful systems are coping.
Intel Core I7 3090K 4.5 GhZ (overclocked) 12-meg cache CPU, 32 Gig DDR3 memory, GeoForce GTX680 2gig 256 Bit PCI Express 3.0 graphic card, 3 Western Difgital 7200 rpm 1 Tb SATA Hard Drives
"I used to have faith in them, too. But how can you believe they'll fix things when they still haven't fixed the P4 bugs?" I think it's a good sign that they're moving so fast to get the SR2 patch out. also you mentioned unfixed p4 bugs. can you elaborate? I'd love to see a list of these (even if it's just so I knwo what they are) thanks! -Josh
I think it's unfortunate that there has to be patchs at all. Why couldn't the product be workable from the start? It doesn't speak well for a company. When I buy a General Electric appliance, I expect it to work correctly when I plug it in. I don't expect to wait for an attachment to come so I can use it. Likewise, with any software company, they would do better business if they test things properly before lettng it loose to the world. Why in Heaven didn't they discover these flaws during beta testing? I have a hard time believing that the beta testers all had no problems with it. I have to wonder if they didn't let enough people with different kinds of computers test it. A few years ago, I beta tested Rhino and was among thousands of beta testers. How many people actually tested Poser 5? There was never even a call for beta testers, was there? I never heard of one. I suspect beta testing might have been done by invitation only with a small, select group of Poser elites. Beta testing should have gone public. Melanie
Melanie, Don't you get it? We're beta testers. Only we had to PAY for the privledge. However, I think the closed beta testers had more attention paid to them(I'm assuming this, I may be VERY wrong) and they didn't get the run around when they TRIED to report the bugs, or were treated like hillbilly cousins that can't read.
reiss, I can't think of them all now, but just off the top.... Memory leaks Multiplying magnets Malfunctioning Undo Open dialog box goes crazy when looking for textures The c-exception error (I didn't have this prior to P5, but I read others did) That's it for now. I'll think of the others as I run across them.
Hi jackson, great list I'm looking forward to seeing the rest! for these 3: Multiplying magnets Malfunctioning Undo Open dialog box goes crazy when looking for textures could you give a quick description of how to duplicate the errors? (also if you have an example of the memory leak I'd love to try it too) as to the C-exception, this is a generic error message which gets thrown when the code has a problem. think about it like a generic error that says "we've hit a bug, and have to close." Although you see the same error type this is probably not the same c-error that someone saw in Poser 4.
