Subject: Off topic: Jerks that make rude unhelpful comments to people that need help

Attached Link: rude comment

I was browsing around some of the forums and i found this topic: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=2104&Form.ShowMessage=930393 I think this is quite rude and non helpful in any manner. Why would someone write back with a response as childish as that? I might be a little overly upset for no reason but i dont believe there should be any place for this in a forum for people that are asking for serious help on something. Love to all -Lady Cherry

yup a bit rude, but compared to some forums dealing with max i frequent...pretty tame. the point behind it i believe is that this is a VERY simple question, one that could be answered in less than a minute by reading the help files or just messing around pushing buttons...this is after all a very basic modeling function.it's just pure laziness to ask a question such as this...in some forums i've been to you would be insulted and told all this,or even shown pictures of racecars as a response[ie formula1=F1=read the help files]...questions from newbies are fine but this is beyond the beyond with a package costing as much as 3dsmax does, the poster most likely has an illegal copy to start with, these kind of questions are a dead giveaway

i tried to learn max. and had alot of stuff understanding stuff. the max forum really intimidated me. i finally gave up on it altogether. i did post a reply there, lady c. that was over a year ago, when i tried to learn. sad to see it is still going on. but, if you are interested in learning a 3d app...rhino is nice....and their forum is, imo, the best here.

Lady,
I find the sexist tirade that EtchASketch directed at you outrageous and I'm sorry that you had to encounter this repulsive behavior.:(

However, rodzilla is right; it's very frustrating when people ask the simplest questions that could easily be answered by reading the manual and many times it's a hint that the person in question does not have a legal copy. A similar thing happened in the trueSpace forum not too long ago: somebody kept asking very simple questions. We helped him, but kept telling him to read the manual, too. Finally he confessed that he did not have the manual because he had an illegal copy. Of course, he was banned.

Like you, Poppi, I looked at the forums when I was trying to decide which 3d application to get. I found the trueSpace forum very helpful and nice, and partly because of that, I decided to get trueSpace. I've never regretted the decision.

Lady C, I can see your point and I agree with you. At the same time, I can also understand why such a simplistic question would make other max users suspicious or, in this case, downright rude. I think an appropriate response would have been to answer the question (as isidro did), but if further questions appear along the same lines (ie. when it becomes totally obvious that the person posting them DOESN'T have the manual), then say 'OK, enough! Piss off' (or whatever). This is along the lines of 'How do I open 2 Figures in Poser at once?'. Something that a cursory glance at the manual would tell you. But I've seen that question answered in this forum several times. So, who knows? Anyway, the real low of the thread, as far as I was concerned, was Etchasketch's totally ignorant and neathandral attack on you for offering your opinion. Hey, not all max users are like that! Take it from me. mac

This is along the lines of 'How do I open 2 Figures in Poser at once?'. That was the first question i asked about poser...on an aol board. i tended to read the manual for the hard stuff...like creating figures....and, when just trying to "do" something...make a render, getting stuck in the middle... i am the sort who would reach out and ask for some instant help. i guess it is because we (i) know the hard stuff takes time and thought to learn, and, accept it. but, the simple tasks...i never would have thought to even look. (manuals seem very hard to me. i sometimes think either they gloss over the easy stuff...or, in my frantic quest to learn....i overlook stuff...most likely that.)

I hate to tell ya, but lack of a manual isn't always an indication of an illegal copy. I have manuals for every piece of software I've ever bought, but 99% of the darn things are in a box somewhere in the basement buried behind all the junk I'm storing for my brother while he looks for a new apartment. It would take me a couple of days just to dig it out and a couple more days just to find the right box. And of course, the manuals in the box are those that I DIDN'T drop in the bathtub, or spill coffee on, or discover that hubby used them to prop up a table leg, etc. Hey, I'm just lucky I don't have a dog or I'm sure a few of them would have been eaten by now.

_I've read the thread, the question, the answers, the comments and the wicked reactions to some.Well. I haven't found not hing to ba angry at nany rat there, not found any offensive or bad things in the question neither in the answers. I just think evryone of us can wake after a night of bad sleep or after a night of bad .... No reason to get mad at the whole world. I believe everyone would be happy to see all of you getting over it, because there are real other DISGUSTING kinds of and much more important things we'd have to fix, here, there, and everywhere. Then if we begin to make war to the flies and birds ??? just forget it and let's go back to work nice artworks, ansd yes, ask and answer nicely: Don't "Interprete" everything as a conspiracy: Personalizing some things because you have twisted one of your nail really bad may hurt a lot, doesn't make the human-machine progress Today, thois precise rose stinks for you and me, tomorrow, this same rose will be a delight to smell for you and me. Tht's what I believe. Humors are like urine, they can eliminate toxines, and if there are toxines, then the urine can be flushed in the toilets. Sometimes, you can eliminate the dirst and impurities yourselves. Or else, antibiotics if is's bacterial. If it is viral, then, wait for a better tomorrow in bed. The sun is in your heads, don't turn it off. hi hi. Drink "Polard Spring Rolling Water" or "Spirit Falls" waters "Evion" for toxic gazes and or Valvic Water for the "after-drink". Cannot be bad after a bad noight ! Let's say: "There was no matter to beat up a cat for this one !" Go in peace (hi hi) !! Friendly.
