Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 30 8:14 pm)
I'm waiting... because just incase they decide not to go ahead with the link.. If you check the poser forums and seee what's been going on with daz and curious labs. the fact that the millenium figues aren't compatible with P5. and might never be.. You could understand why I'm hesitating with my purchase of Vue. I think Vue is an incredible product, but for what I need it for.. with out poser inggration. It wouldn't be much use. What i don't understand is why Vue doesn't put a little effort and come up with a competing product to poser. All the complicated stuff is all ready done. And if Vue was able to let me pose my Daz figures.. why would I need poser. Nick
Good point. I'd say on the top of my head that it probibly infringes somehow on curious labs software. So if they can't do it togeather then all compatable meshes, art has to stay out. I'm sure that they are working on it though because it's so mutually benifical. It makes economic sence to make both products work together. E-On should just buy curious labs ! See I should be a CEO ! Ha ha.
Howdy all, As soon as we have something solid (not wireframe :-)) to tell you about Poser 5, we will announce here. I think you'll find that Vue 4, while a great complementary product to Poser is also a great product all on its own. I wouldnt base a purchase decision solely on a product's interoperability with one other product, unless my livelihood were entirely dependent on that other product. Why not go ahead and download the Vue 4 demo and try it out? Best regards, Lynn Fredricks e-on software
I agree vue is an incredible piece of software on its own and should be purchased anyway, but this whole poser5 /vue thing is getting a bit tedious. It seems to me that neither company seems to want to take responsibility for the problem at hand. E-on says its down to cl and just today i have received an email from the tech support manager of CL saying "Ultimately it is the job of e-on to update their app to work with our newest version" surely both companys can get their heads together and sort this issue out as it is beneficial to them both.
Hey Nick, I'm a total Poser geek, just bought Vue 4 and I must say it's incredibly easy to use. I've made some fantastic renders without having a clue what I'm doing. But, what might interest you is that it's also quite easy to import models (I think 3DS,OBJ,LWO and more) into VUE. Although not poseable, most objects that can go into Poser can also go into VUE and texturing is quite easy. VUE even comes with a bunch of models of it's own.
Hi Raminus, I know looking at the art gallery for Vue... I think it's probabbly the nicest gallery on Rosity. Hat's off to all the vue artists. But a question.. if I do buy Vue.. with out poser 4. so i won't be able to import scenes.. how about if i import obj files. do I loose the transparency and bump maps, like Bryce does. or are figures imported as wavefront objects intact with their materials and transparecies. Thanks (but guys hurry up with the link... I really want to buy Vue. Don't take too long.. becuase if Daz comes out with their version before you guys finish the patch, i'll probabbly buy the Daz program (If it's any good) and wait a few months to get Vue)
Sorry, I'm not sure about transparency maps. But I did import a 3DS model - a freebie galleon ship called San Juan that comes with a separate set of textures. I directed VUE to import the San Juan and VUE initiated a search for the textures without prompting. The ship and textures all imported with no problems. I have heard there's problems with textures transferring when importing Poser figures. Gebe and the pros could elaborate on that more than me. If you want to find out more right now do a search in this forum for 'transparency' or 'pz3' or 'importing' - because I've seen it discussed in several threads here. Good Luck!
There is NO problem when importing Poser 4 figures as Pz3 files. They come with all the mappings and transparencies and bumpmaps. OBJ and 3ds Files... depends! Depends on what? I'm not sure, but some programs seems not to export the classical OBJ or 3ds files. But these are exceptions. Just before answering here to your question, I have imported 8 OBJ and 4 3ds files into Vue 4. Except 1 3ds object (could only see a small point in Vue and impossible to resize??), evey thing came in fine. When importing OBJ, you have to take care that all the mappings are in the same folder as the OBJ file itself. One of the files (a tree) had a transparency map, it only came into Vue at 50% trans, but that's not a problem, as we can just push the transparency to 100% in 2 seconds. Normally I prefer to work (except Poser4 figures and Poser4 objects) with OBJ. That's why I mostly convert all other files Lwo, 3ds, etc. into Wavefront OBJ. Vue 4 is very addicting. Take care before you buy. If you have to lose 10 pounds or more, then buy it quickly, because mostly you will forget to eat:-)... and to sleep... and to call your family, friends... If you meat a person with blue rings under the eyes, ask if he (or she) uses Vue d'Esprit:-) Guitta

I bought p5 a few weeks ago.. and I was about to buy vue for the import of my p5 scenes. I don't have poser 4. Is there an ETA for the completion of the link between vue and p5. Thanks Nick
