Neat texture! I've already gotten a couple of ideas. Can't wait for it to be done.

I am glad it is liked :) I shall work on getting it done in the next week or two. Rawnrr

This is a little off topic, but how the heck to you texture like that? Are you just using poser, and photoshop? I can't get anything close to this quality... but 'm a totaly NUBE. => Klutzo

Hi Klutzo Aye....I make the textures in photoshop. What helps is to have good quality source material.....and my 10 years of experience as a graphic artist doesnt hurt the process either ;) If you have specific questions, I am always more than happy to help when I can. Rawnrr

Kewl! I am tryig to use photoshop to texture as well... Now basically what I did was use uvmapper to break out the "model" so that I could see what facets I was painting. I dont' have uvmapper PRO, so I was wondering if having that, and the ability to stretch out the facets to "paint" on it helps? izzit essential? Every time I paint something, the model seems to deform it, i.e. some facets are much bigger, others are very tiny, so when you paint a line (for instance) as it goes from a tiny facet, poser BLOWS up the size of the line to have a thickness of say 10 points. Then as the line you've drawn crosses a facet that is large, the line goes back to a 1 point line. Do you get what I'm trying to say? Not sure if I'm explaining it right... Because looking at BONE, I see the textures seem to have very very precise cracks, and furrows in the skin. how does one get that great effect? Klutzo

Hi Klutzo Getting a texture map to a good size to work with is probably the first thing you should look into doing. For my maps on the Michael character I make the image size to no less than 1500x1500 pixels. Then you have a good size to put on the details as you wish. There are free seam guides for the Michael (and victoria) character that you can download from the freestuff forum, so that you do not need to make your own templates in UV mapper...they are very helpful. But even with custom props which you map in UV mapper, you can also take the template into photoshop and increase its size to a suitable size to add your details. Basically, the larger the (pixel) size of the file, the greater the detail will be on your object. It is good to work with props that do not have such a large variant in facet sizes...it makes it a bit easier to texture nicely.....but I think that will always be a hassle with this art....until we all get computes that can handle billions of facets on an object without flinching :) Rawnrr

I just saw a couple of problems. Well my texture is a 2000x2000 pixel piece of art in Photosnot, so that shoudl be good... I also saw there's a prob with Poser 5 on the forums somewhere.. it does some very strange things to textures... the new firefly renderer (Oe something like that) seems to fuzzify things for some reason. Here's the linky. http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=939932

ahhh...and in there lays the rub, for I still do not have Poser 5 ;) Hope you get it all sorted out :)

K thanks.. => Oh, do you use UVmapper? or UVMapper Pro? Do you stretch out the facets to paint? Klutzo

RawArt ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 6:41 PM

I use UV mapper ...and I use the objects as they are, modeling is not my gig...yet ;)

klutzo ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 6:45 PM

Hahaha.. same here. I don't know how to model a paper bag!!! => I'll play with textures for now.. closer to what I can do I think.. => Klutzo
