Hello to all ! Is there any way to get the bones out of Poser4 ? obj, dxf, 3ds... ? Thanx, -Juergen.

Poser doesn't use bones...its like a normal IK setup but with blending at the joints.....probably not the best explanation :o)......steve

Unless you're referring to exporting the skeleton (in which case OBJ is probably best) Steve's explaination is correct Paul

First, thanx for the answers ! So, is there a possibility to export a model with the joints ? -Juergen.

If you are exporting to Bryce, you would have to pose the figure in Poser and export an OBJ file. Load this into Bryce and apply material and render. However, you would not be able to manipulate the figure - it would be locked into the pose you exported it in. If you are exporting to a high-end programme which supports character animation (something like 3D Studio MAX), you would have to import the figure from Poser so that you retained all of the seperate parts and then build the bones/IK chains for it in MAX (or whatever), then apply material before you started animating it. There is going to be a way to export an animated character from Poser to 3D Studio MAX - Konan is working on a MAX plugin which will do exactly this. The plugin is due May but will not allow you to actually manipulate the figure in MAX - this would have to be done in Poser Hope this clears things up for you Paul

Hello again ! The first 2 points are clear. But I can not get the third: What will the plug-in do ? I already can export different poses now... -Juergen.

This plugin will export animated poses. You'll be able to set up an animated figure in Poser and export it to MAX where it will appear as an animated figure. Check out the MAX forum and run a search on Konan for examples of what he is planning Paul

Now if they can can get this Plugin to work for carrara ;-)

Cararra does not support bending joints or bones. I reco Boning you character in your second nonposer app, & importing the BVH from Poser. Seems like it accomplishes the same thing. I guess you were hoping to avoid having to set up a Poser/Zygote model Bones/IK chain was the point of your question?

Yes, that was my hope Pack. :-( Does anybody know a tool to get these BVH-data into Maya ? -Juergen.
