corel has a program simular to RDS.

Crescent ( ) posted Mon, 10 April 2000 at 10:24 PM

As far as I could tell, Corel 3D was RDS. They gave up after Corel 8. The one thing that worries me is that Corel is not in the best shape. Their programs are "also rans": Word Perfect has slipped badly behind Word, Corel Draw is a lesser Adobe Adobe Illustrator, etc. I hope they do well with it, but they weren't my first choice. Thanks for letting us know!

Then, please, as soon as possible, what is the new email address for comments and suggestions about Bryce? I hope they won't butcher it like they did with Quattro Pro's graph plotting package :-( :-(

Is this a good or bad thing conserning Poser? Good because hopefully a stronger company will take over Poser instead of one that is having serious problems, or bad because the small about of ability in moving between the two will be gone? A_Super_Hero

Any company's interest in Poser's survival can only be a good thing. The alternative would be Poser dying a slow death or put on some bizarre life support by the Poser community. Not much could be worse than MetaC.

Anthony Appleyard ( ) posted Thu, 13 April 2000 at 2:25 AM

If the source forms of Bryce and Poser were made public, like it is with the Gnu (see http://www.delorie.com) software (a C/C++ compiler, a text editor, etc, then `many hands could make light work' of curing bugs and implementing improvements.

Look at it this way, Bryce has a huuuge fan following, plus Corel has been the "cheaper Adobe" for a while . I own Corel Draw 6 and 8, and I think PhotoPaint is far superior to PhotoShop. And with Painter and Bryce added to the Mix, Corel Draw 10 should kick arse. Also, think about it, Corel needs a shot in the arm. Before we sound any death knells for Bryce, let's give it a shot. Buy the next Corel Bryce 5 and show them that it won't die like Xara. Nick Noel
