Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 25 12:38 pm)
I bought Sierra Complete Home version 2.0 for a similar purpose. My notes to myself tell me that it exports DXF with no textures. I'm a little hazy on it's capabilities because I uninstalled it right away because the quality of its AVI generation was awful. I could reinstall and play around with it's DXF export if you'd like more info.
The .dxf file standard does not support exporting textures. Your better off using another format if you want to keep tex info. Poser is terrible for importing files. Your best bet is to use some type of file translator after designing the house then using Bryce to do the textures. Use another format like 3ds, 3mf or obj to keep the object separate.
Well, I tried the Sierra Architect 3.0. It does export in 3D dxf format. No textures. That would not have been a problem, but, since the model exports as a single, unbreakable group, I cannot ungroup so as to add textures inside Bryce or Poser. There has to be a way. I am no modeling expert obviously, but, there has to be a way. If someone can think of it, I would be most appreciative.
It may be more trouble than it's worth, but you might as well just build your house out of primitives in Bryce. That is what I do for anything that is not too complex like curved walls. I've gotten so good at doing this, I've made detailed castles and medieval cities in Bryce alone. A house shouldn't be too tough.

The title about says it all. I am looking for one of those "home design" programs that will allow me to design rooms, houses, etc. and export it to a useable .dxf file for eventual Poser and Bryce imports. I tried Broderbund's 3-D Home Design Suite and it is useless. The .dxf export is in a format that must be "translated" or something by a CAD program. Any help would be appreciated. On second thought, I guess the title didn't say it all. ;)
