When I import a poser figure into 3D studio max (exported as 3DS file from poser) I'm having problems with texture mapping (I guess) after applying any P4 texture it doesn't fit seamlessly Any idea what to do in this case to get the proper texture mapping? I've tried importing the model into Max as an .Obj file, but the model needs a lot of mesh smoothing and finally doesn't look very smooth, the .Obj files keep the texture coordinates quite well but the model needs to be resized and for some reason when this has been done the model doesn't show in the rendered image. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks. Gustavodz

Import as .obj, it's far more better than .3ds. I guess you use the Habware plugin to import obj-files, otherwise I suggest you get it. Use the scale-option, that way you won't need to resize the object. Don't use the MeshSmooth. Instead, select your object, get into submode, select vertex. Then select all the vertexes (sp?) Scroll down in the menu to the right, select one smoothgroup and voila, this should smooth the object enough to get better results than in poser. Otherwise, redo this again with another smooth-group. Hope this helps you out. =)

You have to import as .obj into max for seamless texturing... But you'll have to tell the plugin to scale it by about 9000-10000... Poser works on a really small scale for some reason.. As for smoothing.. I think the plugin does that too, if you tell it to correctly (but I might be wrong.. I only did it once, and that was a while back...) Check out the Max forum... search for Konan.. he's working on a utility to make it much easier to import poser figures into Max correctly.. =) Rosh

Roshigoth; Yes, the plug does this too, but if you then save your work as a MAX-file, the next time you load it the object won't be smooth anymore.

Ahh.. i see.. oh well.. like I said, I only did it once.. wasn't particularly happy with the way Max handled my poser chars and it took up way too much memory, so I do my poser chars almost exclusively in Bryce. Rosh

Konan's plugin will supposedly fix this seam problem as well as exporting. He said he can't resume work until he finishes school in May, & maybe a May release.
