I don't know what kind of advice you need. The best thing you can do is to get as much reference material as possible. Then you can start making sketches or you can skip this step and go to modeling. You can make this kind of models with polys very easily, if you are using MAX.nemirc

It depends on the program. You can get some paid "cell-renderers" as well as free "cell-renderers" for MAX. (I don't remember where, but they are LEGAL) Maya can create cartoon shaders using standard shading networks. I don't know how the poser pro flash animations look like. I don't think that flash would be the better choice either. I would use DivXnemirc

As a matter of fact, they used inferno, and the waterfalls is just salt falling down in front of a black background. Anyway, you could use smaller particles and a more dense "mass" of particles, so you can't see through them. Good start thoughnemirc

I think that people should face the terrible truth. Poser's renderer sucks. Humans look ok (sort of) but other things such as glass, metal and REAL WORLD things look simply horrible. I don't know if I could find a worst renderer. Well, maybe bryce could be mentioned too. Talking about photorealism, of course. If you like the computer look on the images that's ok with me.nemirc

I think I will give it a try when I finish the model I am making. It will take some time since it's a character ![Message671424.jpg](http://www.renderosity.com/photos/Message671424.jpg)nemirc

As they specify on the DVD, they used a program named "Shaper", nothing to do with Maya nor Renderman. Don't bother looking for it. If you want to learn it, get a job at PDInemirc

I agree on the fact that the blue figure "pops out" from the composite. Nevertheless, I have a few pointers. First of all, I believe that the chatacter should be the center of interest in the last part. It gets out of the field of view twice and it doesn't look good to me. Second, there are no shadows. Third, maybe if you could add some distance fog and/or dust on the ground it would look nice. Just an idea. Fourth, the character looks too flat, as if it was "cel-shaded".nemirc

Very very well said, illusion3d. I've seen that a lot of people in the *industry* has never attended a specialized "computer graphics school" but they are "damn good" at what they do, and the answer to the "why" is that they "worked their ass off" as illusion3d said. It doesn't matter how many schools you attend because your skills are far more important that the cardboard saying that you have graduated. In my personal opinion, read books, download tutorials and pick a specific field (modeling, rendering or animation) and master it. Also, try to pick one single app and stick to it. I began with MAX but I started with Maya almost 2 years ago and all I can say is that I'll never pick softimage, max or lightwave unless I am required to (because of a job). I went a little off topic, sorry ![Message671422.jpg](http://www.renderosity.com/photos/Message671422.jpg) Hope this helps, just my "3 cents", hehehenemirc
