Right now I'm using a computer that was put together from a barebones kit from TigerDirect. I bought the hard drives locally, but that's all. Right next to this computer is another one with yet more TigerDirect parts.
Thread: Dilemma: What computer to get | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I looked at PC Club, and found their selection very limited, and expensive, when compared to TigerDirect. When thinking of networking, look at the Big Picture first. Do you have broadband? If so, you might already have or get a combination modem/hub, which will handle your network needs nicely. When we had a cable modem, I bought a NetGear wireless hub because my wife's computer is upstairs, while mine was downstairs. When we got DSL, we got a modem/hub combined, and I just installed a wireless network card in my computer. Many new computers over the years come with builtin NIC cards as well. If you don't have a hub, they're inexpensive.

I've been doing a lot of business with TigerDirect lately. You might say the UPS man and I are good friends. You can get the KVM switch at TigerDirect. You may not need to do much work to network the computers. Windows XP has always found my Internet connection, and I do believe it found the other computers on the network. Beyond that you need to deal with File and Printer sharing, etc.Message edited on: 03/06/2005 12:45 PS: I've been sold on AMD processors for many years. I currently have and AMD Duron, and an Athlon XP 2900+.

I have two computers sitting side by side. There is not enough room in my apartment for another keyboard and monitor, so I use a KVM switch to share the monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers. To switch back and forth between computers, I hit "CTRL CTRL ENTER." The two computers are networked using the DSL router/hub. This setup works just fine, except sometimes the mouse cursor seems to freeze.
Thread: Getting clothes to fit Stephanie 1 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Stephanie 1 never did get many clothes to fit her. There are even fewer clothes that will fit Stephanie with her morphs enabled. One trick people used was basically to rob Stephanie of her uniqueness. Select her body, then find the Stephanie morph, and set it to "0." In essence, she now has Vicky's body. But that may not entirely do the job. Stephanie 1 is an older character, and you're not likely to find many suitable clothes for her.
Thread: Having Problems getting shoes to stay on while posing...... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've never had that problem, and never needed to parent any clothes. You do want to conform them to the figure, like all clothes. Then be sure to select your character, and not the clothes, when you pose him/her.
Thread: Different Runtimes , where do we go ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You can use the "+" to add Runtimes, and the "-" to remove them. I only have one or two linked this way most of the time. But then I also have my Poser installations optimized by using CorrectReference Pro to get all the references correct.

Believe me, the Lifetime Subscription looked enticing. However, with my current situation, such an expense is too much. Besides, Poser 6 is coming....

randym77, I set my runtimes up nearly the same. If you have Vicky 3, Mike 3 (etc), you want to copy their !DAZ Library folders over to your main Poser 5 installation. The whole process is easy. Just create a folder out in the main hard drive with the name of the Runtime you want to use (example: Vicky3). Install your stuff directly into that folder. Link to Poser 5. You might only want to link the Runtimes you're using at the time. Poser 5 will load faster.

"At this point nothing is getting added to P6." Exactly. They'd probably reached that point months ago.

Thread: Please HELP me with Poser Library | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The best tip I can give is to do some advanced research, ask the questions so you'll know what you're working with. Then map out a plan that makes sense to you. Get your tools together: 1.) File Manager program, 2.) P3DO Explorer, 3.) CorrectReference or CorrectReference Pro, etc. Then make a backup of your current installation before you start. You might even consider backing up everything, then deleting it so you can start over from scratch.

If you're doing "version 3" figures, such as Vicky 3, you want to use Injection Pose Builder.

If you want external Runtimes for Poser 5: 1.) Create a folder with the name of the Runtime (Mike3, for example.) You can use a good file manager program. 2.) Install something directly into the new Runtime folder (ex: Mike 3.)If you use a DAZ instaler, it will go into it just fine. 3.) You might want to use CorrectReference (CR Free), or better yet CorrectReference Pro (CRPro, available in Marketplace.) You're set.
