And the solution, for anyone in the future searching for the answer to this question:
The problem was in the scale, rotation and translate channels. All of them needed to be reset as follows:
Scale channels:
forceLimits 0
min 0.1
max 100000
Rotation and Translation channels:
forceLimits 0
min -100000
max 100000
The crumpling mesh has now gone away.

Alright. I went to the xrot, yrot and zrot channels and made the min and max limits and forceLimits values as you wrote them above. It still happened.
Do you think I didn't go far enough? Should I change all channel values (scaling, trans, etc.) to what you suggest?

Figure is my own product that is a mod of the M4 Gens so a screen shot is probably not possible here unless I do a closeup.
I've checked it in Poser 8 and Poser Pro 2012. Same problem occurs.

Hmmm ... interesting. I had found that the figure (I "inherited" a rig) had a smoothscaley channel in the left toes for the foot, and a smoothscalez channel in the right toes for the foot. So I created a smoothscale channel (z and y) for each toe.
Bingo, this problem appeared.
So that appears to be the answer.
I've never really used smoothscale channels, so this is definitely a learning process.

Perfect. I thought I remembered seeing other "figure" scenes set up this way. Thank you PhilC!

And this is something, if it is turned off, that you can adjust in the cr2 if you so choose. Then you can save out your own IK-enabled Freak, etc.
Thread: How to adjust conforming skirts to legs? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The difference in skirt is probably due to how the vendor set up the cr2 file. If it can respond to changes in the rotation of the thighs or shins of V4, then you would see automatic adjustment.
If you are interested, someday you may set up your own body handles in the setup room, and then you can save a second cr2 file for your own use. Essentially, they are bones that are not assigned to any polys in the dress, but have falloff zones that affect portions of the polys in the skirt itself.
But that's for another day.
Clothifying is an excellent option for the most realistic looking draping.

Doesn't Wardrobe Wizard also have an option to add body handles into skirts? That would certainly help out in the case of freebie dresses.
Thread: DAZ / Face Room Q? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No. I think it has something to do with setting up a face room module for them. There is a standalone product that they sell at DAZ, I think it's Faceshop or something like that. It's not the same as the face room, but it's somewhat similar.
I think.

Yes. I see your point. No reason to piss people off.
I already started reorganizing the product and with some pruning, the MAT situation is under better control.

Well, and I hope those who put it together remember to avoid copyright issues. We have artists/computer gurus in our community that have put together their own tutorials and/or books, and that should be respected.
You can do some basic stuff without math ... I haven't gotten into the advanced stuff for that reason. But it has been good to work with it. I'd suggest you give it a whirl. Start with something simple like attaching one of the special diffuse or specular nodes. Even that can make surfaces pop!

Ok, that topic is going to end up spanning MANY pages. I pity the kind souls who will put it together!!
