I'd rather be a useful idiot than being an enslaved intellect. At least I have the freedom to chose whether to buy V9 or not.
I bet you do have the freedom NOT to buy G9 stuff.
DS/Poser is I hope for me as for you a hobby. You can choose whether to spend your money on it or not.
I still use G3/G8, but it's nice to have options. I can't fathom to live in a Lenin world. All my 3D figures will probably look like 'potatoes'

Thread: New start, New puter, advice? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Hello DE,
Congratulations on getting a new machine.
"SO I need advice:
1-absolutely the BEST render settings that will get photorealistic results? (both for architectural scenes and also settings for say figure scenes)
2-Best light set (general use) for DS
3-Best texture set for genesis 8? (both female and male)"
Having glanced at your old gallery, I see you like rendering darker scenes. Your scenes are similar to mine (low lighting). So I will share what I know to work best with darker renders based on my experience. I know you are asking for the best, I have used D S for about 5 yr now as a part time hobby, so I might not know the BEST stuff out there, but I hope what I share can get you started.
1. the render setting that I frequently use for my renders :
and
For crispier renders. don't use the denoiser. Change the pixel filter from default 1.5 to 1 or lower.
Set max samples to 5000 or higher. I set mine at 10000. set max time to 0
This may not be the BEST setting, but it should be enough to get rid of the fireflies in your dark renders. Ofcource, you can always stop the render when you feel that your render quality is to your satisfaction.
2. Lights... I can't give you any suggestions since I've never purchased any light set. Lighting is very subjective. Every scene requires a different set of light. There are so many variations and it's. I suggest you learn proper lighting by first understand each DS lighting tool. I watched WP Guru aka Jay Versluis youtube channel. and photographic lighting tutorials on youtube.
Lighting is 75% of the work you have to put into your scene, so there is no light sets out there that will give you a perfect scene all the time.
3. BEST shaders/textures. This is very subjective. I can only tell you what I've used and like. I haven't tested all the shaders out there. I will just suggest a few PA's that I've purchased from. For G8.1F,I've used ChangelingChick's RozalinaHD, and Mousso's Echo. For G8F, I've used Sangriart, Saiyaness, Mousso, Chevybabe25. For G8m, I've used Phoenix1966, and Mousso,
I haven't got anything 8.1 yet.
Most of these shaders are quite photo realistic with the right lighting
Side note: Don't get to hung up on photo realism. Don't give up aesthetics for the sake of realism. A well made cinematic movie is always prettier than a documentary imho.
Good Luck!
JV

In my experience, updating the nVidia driver usually help. Also, Check your resource usage. In some instances a scene with some large texture maps can use up your VRAM as well as your System RAM. I noticed you only have 8 GB of VRAM and 16Gb of system RAM.

If the hair is a non-conforming prop. I think you could just rescale them and parent them to the genesis figure.

There're two PAs at Daz named RiversoftArt and Sickleyield They have written some hair conversion scripts that can accomplish what you wanted. (They also wrote some clothes conversion scripts. I was able to convert some Gen 4 clothes to work with Genesis figures.
RSSY Hair Converter from Victoria 4 to Genesis 8 Female and RSSY Hair Converter from Michael 4 to Genesis 8 Male
I apologize I can't link them due to Rendo's TOS, so you just need to do a search for the PAs
I hope that helps

Thread: What's Happening at DAZ? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you couldn't get the help you need from Daz. U was in a similar situation. I bought a product from Daz in August. The product was giving me missing files error. I was able to pin point the missing files and sent a ticket to Daz. I got a autoreply after resending the ticket a week later, and then another generic reply that they're looking into it. I wanted to return the product within the 30 days of purchase, however, I was able to contact the Publishing Artist of that product myself and was able to resolve the issue. He explained that Daz has purchased the product outright, but packaged it wrongly. My ticket is still open, and it's been 2 months. I understand you're frustrations, but the last few years, Daz' customer service has gone downhill. I don't know if this help. I joint a Discord service a few months ago, where fellow Daz Users/Artists/Vendor chat with each other, helping each other with issues and sharing art ideas. More often than not, I find my answers at this Discord server faster than roaming the various 3D forums. I can't guarantee you'll find all the answers instantly, but at least there are people with similar issues that can share ideas.
I don't know if this link is allowed. Moderators, please take it off if it's not allowed. Thank you and good luck. https://disboard.org/server/578543104492306432

I just realized my spelling was horrible... There's no edit button, so I'll repost the last statement,
I meant to say : "This is an experiment I did. I used an array of sphere primitives (with different emission colors) and lined them up into a ring and parent to the camera... "Ring Light""

I've turned off the keylight, so only the environment light (HDRi) affect the eyes...This is a bit more 'realistic' If you look closely, you can actually see some details of the environment in the eye reflection.
