Hi EnglishBob - thanks for the kind words. I've just pushed the new version 4.0a live and re-enabled the website. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you have the time. All the best.

Version 4.0 of UVMapper Professional is coming, most likely next week. I believe I have everything ready to go, but I'm going to be out of town for a few days and I want to wait to launch the new version until I'm back in case there are any issues. Lots of new features like LSCM mapping, magic wand for selecting vertices, facets, edges and seams (it's really easy to split up the texture map into pieces now), plus lots of other tools. I'm looking forward to hearing what people think of it!

Silverleif-Studios - I don't think it'll be included in the initial release - I have a few features that I really want to add that will have to wait for a point release. I really needed to stop adding more features or it will never get out the door =P Out of curosity, how do you see the symmetry feature working from the users point of view? Perhaps if we can come up with a simple way to implement it, I might be able to find the time to fit it in sooner... hauksdottir - thanks for the kind words =) Steve

Did you know that there's an OS-X version of UVMapper Classic available for download? You can download it from the link above. The Pro version is the next step... SteveThread: Deep UV --> Poser Problem... Help? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Hi Littlefox - It sounds like Deep UV is changing the number of vertices for some reason (perhaps because the model is grouped?) Hard to imagine why it needs to do that. Have you had any luck finding a work around? If not, let me know and I'll see if there's anything I can do to help. Coming soon - UVMapper Pro 3.0 with it's own relax vertices feature (hopefully this will no longer be a problem =) Steve

Hi Tom - You've got the latest version of UVMapper Classic, but the tutorial was written for an older version. The new version has all of the features of the previous versions, but some of them have moved (sorry about that, I really need to find the time to update those tuts.) For example, what used to be "Edit->Settings" and check "Color by Group" is now "Edit->Color->by Group". Until I get the chance to update the tuts, please try looking for the options in your version. If you get stuck, drop me a note at stevecox@optonline.net and I'll help. Good luck, Steve

Hi Helen - I'm guessing that you are using planar mapping on the figure. Planar mapping by itself can causing "stretching" at the edges of the textures because of the way it's projected. The facets at the edge are facing away from the axis of projection and therefore only use a small amount of the map, which causes the apparent strectching. There are a few ways around this: first, you may want to keep the mapping that already exists on the model and only remap portions that you need. If you have a selection active when you choose a mapping mode, only the current election will be affected. You can also use the vertex select mode to grap the vertices and pull them away from the edge to reduce the stretching. Finally, you can also have a look at the Pro version with has a special tool for dealing with this. The link is to a tutorial I wrote on using UVMapper Pro to create maps like the attached camel template. I hope this helps, SteveThread: a big public thankyou | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Pam - Thanks for the kind words, and for supporting the development of UVMapper Pro and CR2Edit =) We really appreciate it (apologies for speaking for you Dan, but I'm pretty sure you feel the same...) Cheers, Steve

The program you downloaded is not UVMapper, it's supermapper by Clive Pygott. The executable name is not uvmapper.EXE, it's uvmapst.exe, and it's over two years old at this point. You may want to check out UVMapper which is available for free (both Windows and Macintoh version) from UVMapper.com Let me know if you have problems and I'll do what I can to help. Good luck, SteveThread: ok, what the heck's wrong with uvmapper? :/ | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

This was written for Poser 3 but also applies to Poser 4. Just start by exporting the obj model with all export options checked except the last one (export as morph target.) That should get you all the groups and materials to work with. Please let me know if you have questions, SteveThread: Remapping Gurus! Please esplain' somtink 2 me... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You need to delete the .rsr file that's in the same directory as the .obj file you remapped. Poser uses this to speed up loading times - once you delete it, Poser will recreate it from the new .obj file. HTH, Steve

Even though you can import .obj files, trueSpace ignores the UV coorindates so your texture mapping goes away. I believe the luuv plugin handles UV coordinates properly. Steve
