Hmm, perhaps I could call her something like "Vludmilla, Drama Queen of the Jungle" or "Prudence, Barbarian Drama Queen" or "Seenwunnactu"... Berge
Thread: Magnets on Hair - I'm getting a little desperate | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Uh... I'm only posting my opinion because you said you were desperate. My success with magnets have been a bit mixed. Basically, Set the BASE up in the position and facing the direction in which you want to pull. Set the zone up so that it covers the whole area to be morphed. Now tran the MAGNET. If it moves away from the base, but nothing happens, check the selection and the zone. Try selecting individual polygons with the grouping tool. Try typing in values instead of pulling. However, for what you are trying to do, (if I understand you right) I would rather make the morph in a modeler, scaling a selection of polys in one dimention. Berge
Thread: Our own vs Downloaded | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think it's a personal thing. Before I started building my own models, I got a great thrill out of using the downloads and putting together scenes and animations. Now it sort of lends an extra bit of creative pleasure to use my own stuff. But I still use everybody else's as well. A previous posting asked what the purpose of Poser is. I guess it boils down to whatever turns you on. Commercially I use Poser mostly to set up scenes to redraw on paper, to make storyboards, etc. But, as Don said, you own your own pictures, regardless of whose tools you use to create it. Berge
Thread: UV mapping | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This may be a really stupid suggestion, but check that you selected the right texture for all the materials in the object and that the texture setting is at 100%. :) Berge

Quick correction, Jon is right, of course. Sorry, his post came through while I was typing :) Berge
Thread: Texture advice sought | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
James, I'm sure someone else will give you some better ideas, but here's my take on the problem: The first thing to keep in mind is that if you create the bands on the texture, they will stretch and distort as the limb moves (i.e. as the vertices are stretched by Poser). You can overcome the stretching effect by doing them as props and parenting them in place. If the stretching effect is not a problem, then I would suggest you open the .obj in UV Mapper, select by group, choose thigh and remap as a cylinder, or some other option that gives you a better map to work with. When you save the model, it would probably be a good idea to give it a new name, so that if you mess up, you don't lose your original figure. Open the CR2 in a text editor, search for ".obj", there should be two references to your object file, change them to refer to your new .obj, save the cr2 file under a new name and now go back to creating a texture from your new template. A planar texture tends to distort on the edges where the vertices are bunched up on the map. It's always going to be difficult to line things up and get clear, smooth lines. Hope that helps. Berge

For Rhino you can simply open the geometry .obj file in Obj to 3DM utility and convert to Rhino format.
Thread: Another resource to look into | Forum: Community Center
I looked in and signed on. Looks like a good site. (Some familiar names there too :) I used my home mail address to sign on, so I'll only be able to join in tomorrow. Can you tell me approximately how many members the PFO has? And is there anything that is substantially different from Renderosity that I should be aware of? Berge
Thread: Before you depart, remember this is YOUR site. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
What really pisses me off is that we all have a stake in this, and as Pendarian has said, things have already changed. One way or the other each of us is the poorer for this rift. I would prefer not to constantly have to cruise the web and post the same message on a dozen forums in the hope of finding the guy with the right answer. In the past this has been THE place. Surely Zygote and Curious Labs have the most to lose and can do something to keep this community from splitting up? Berge

Frankly, the way this thing has developed, my guess would be that they would now have to pay someone to buy this site. I think it might be up to Zygote and Curious Labs to bail the site out. They have a major stake in seeing that this community doesn't disintegrate. Personally I would like to see an explanation from Edgenet and either a statement by them accusing Jack and Ed of something, or an offer to them to return to their posts. Berge
Thread: So what now? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Excuse my ignorance, but while I can understand the site costing a lot of money, I cannot understand that it can't be profitable. And if it's not making money, why are people fighting over it? It has no real assets, as members retain the rights in all their work. It is simply a popular cyber meeting place with oodles of marketing potential that has largely been ignored. I feel as if we're all being sucked into an argument that has nothing to do with us ordinary members. Our comments simply go towards fixing the price. (So far I would say that the price must have dropped considerably.) As a member I have had fantastic service from Jack and his team and I trust and respect them. But I'm not looking for a political battle. I didn't ask about internal politics when I joined this community, I simply found a place that really seemed to cater for my needs. This time it will be no different. The fact that there has been no word from Edgenet on this issue (after all' they own the place) will certainly add to my current conviction that Jack and Ed will be a better bet in the future. But it remains to be seen if they can get it together. Frankly, I'm a bit pissed off for having to make this kind of choice, but I guess, like all of the other ordinary members, I'm just a speck of dust on a corporate agreement. Berge
Thread: Stay with Renderosity! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sounds to me like we're all just pawns in a bidding war. Has Edgenet responded to any of this? Berge
Thread: Hi Res Conforming Jeans for Eve | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you, thank you. I've had some sleep now. Wyrwulf, the breastmorphs are my own. I've just upgraded to Poser4 and my greatest dissappointment was that they didn't do anything about the way the chest area was shaped. I was delighted to find that Torino had cut and sliced Posette into shape to form Eve. Now I just wish someone would convert her to a hi-res figure :) I'll start working on that texmap now :{ Berge
Thread: Curious Labs Store? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It's bound to be a problem in some areas. There is, for example, unlikely to be a specific distribution agent in South Africa, and vendors won't import unless they can do so in volume, due to charges on transactions. I would be quite happy to buy the product over the net and simply download it. They can send the box along 6 months later. Berge

You may also want to just double check that you are using 100% black on the transmap. Check the colour description in your drawing/painting programme. Use uncompressed files for transmaps (JPEG may give a slight distortion). But I think Ede is probably right. Berge
