I think that if you wait for Reality 3 early in 2013 you'll be able to achieve stuff like this.

Quote - thanks ..I'm using Poser 8
I dont see anything about light emitter settings in there at all.
I think it was a new feature for Poser 9, but if you want to check it's in the properties panel for the figure / prop.

These are my quick preview settings. They're for the D3D script: if you're not using it, you should.

Snarly's free SceneFixer has the ability to rename nodes (and is extremely useful in many other ways).
Some of BB's materials have dozens and dozens of nodes; I've no idea if there's an upper limit, but 12 nodes for a single material is nowhere near "a lot".

On my wishlist... from the blurb I notice there's going to be a BagginsBill merchant resource set of shaders: can't wait for that!

You have talked about this a few times now and everytime I go to the site - it's not possible to download it, there is no active link anywhere.
Same thing with the Environment Sphere.
It's rather frustrating.
Go back and have another look. Especially towards the lower right corner of the page: there's a little arrow, which is the download link, just above the 'Comments' section.

Thread: Poserizing Models? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Here are my suggestions:
a) there are a few 'utility' props that will help you correctly scale things: Dr Geep's are very useful
b) simple props just need to have materials applied to them. Since most users are way past version 5, keep the materials very simple. If the props have moving parts and / or morphs, you'll need to make sure these all work correctly.
c) you save completed props to your content library in the 'Props' folder. When you navigate to that folder on your PC or Mac, you'll see that the prop has a .pz2 extension. You should also see a corresponding file with an .rsr extension. .rsr files were phased out with Poser 7, and .png is now used: in Poser 8 and up, the icons for your items will not be recognised. There's a free RSR Converter which you could run to get round this.
d) OK, I'm going to say it: for f*ck's save up for a recent version of Poser: whatever you create in Poser 5 may well be fine, but if you're planning to sell your props, your customers with recent versions will expect them to work correctly, and you have no way of testing them: this is a recipe for disaster!
Good luck!

Quote - Hi,
I've been trying to follow this thread, and have tried the IBLTest.pz3 file in my Poser5 but it keeps asking for 'sky6.jpg' and for 'NO_MAP' - is there any chance someone has these files that I could use?
Not going to happen because they're copyrighted. You could choose a different IBL image.
Or, since the thread is very old, ignore all that: if you have Poser 8 or later use BB's env sphere and IDL (without AO).

Thread: Render Resolution | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
First, determine what the rendered image will be used for.
On-screen viewing (web etc.): anything larger than 1800 x 1200 or thereabouts is probably overkill.
Offset Litho: determine the physical dimensions at which it will be printed (e.g. a half page, 6" x 8") and multiply those dimesions by the required pixels per inch - usually 300ppi. For our example, that would require a render of 1800 pixels x 2400 pixels. (Your "2000 res" render would be fine, as long as you mean that you're rendering to 2000 pixels.)
Large format inkjet: again, determine the physical dimensions at which it will be printed and the required pixels per inch. This is, emphatically, not the same thing as the printer's resolution expressed in dots (not pixels) per inch. So if you're given a figure like 720, 1200, 1440 or more dots per inch whoever you got it from has no idea what they're doing. For the absolutely finest quality you'll seldom need more than 240ppi. For display / exhibition graphics, you'll get away with 120ppi or even less.
Let's say you need to render to produce a huge poster, 5ft x 8ft. That's 60" x 96". If you render to provide a resolution of 100ppi at the final size, you need 6000px x 9600px. A big render, but not too crazy.

Even with generous Irradiance Cacheing, IDL artifacts are apparent: the way to render scenes lit this way is definitely with the cacheing off.

Looks like there's a geometry issue to the right of the middle window.
Right, I'm gonna crank up HDR's V value to 12 (1200% intensity) and leave it to run overnight.

Since there's no direct light, there'll be no hard shadows, but there will be accurate soft shadows.
This kind of lighting requires pretty aggressive render settings - note that I've disabled the Irradiance Cache - and it looks like the test render will take hours.
I'll post the results when I can.

Thread: Best jpg saving option for textures? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Generally I can't understand why this format didn't got much use
Mainly because everyone is happy with plain vanilla JPEG.
JPEG 2000 (J2K) is a really good schema though; the one place where it gets a decent amount of use is in Adobe Acrobat, from version 7 up (I think).
J2K uses Discrete Wavelet Transform to compress image data (either lossless or lossy) - tons better than 'JPEG', which is horribly primitive in comparison.
If anyone has a lot of high resolution images they need to archive, I'd recommend J2K compressed PDFs: they're accessible by anyone with Adobe Reader and you can cut the data footprint in half compared to LZW Tiffs.
