Here is a link that explains it in detail. Sorry, but I cheated ;)Quote - In the beginning there was black and white television and it was good sayeth the word. These pictures were broadcast in the United States at a vertical sync of 60 Hz with a frame rate of 30 FPS. When RCA and CBS were developing color television broadcasting one of the prerequisites for the new format was that it be backwards compatible with all the black and white TV's in use at the time. The NTSC (National Television Standards Committee) shifted the vertical sync a measly 0.06 Hz (a 0.1% difference) to 59.94 Hz which gave NTSC color TV the frame rate of 29.97 FPS. So far so good, the broadcasters were happy and so were our prehistoric couch potatoes. In 1956 Ampex produced the first VTR. For years video tape was edited the same as audio tape; manually with a razor blade. While this method worked well with audio, it wasn't nearly as precise given the helical scan of video tape and was certainly not capable of frame accuracy. Ampex refined "electronic editing" in the early 1960's with control track edit systems. In the late 60's time code video tape editing was developed and offered frame accurate edits with each video frame identified with a unique eight digit time stamp of Hours: Minutes: Seconds: Frames. The standards for SMPTE/EBU time code were born in 1969. A committee of folks from the U.S. based Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers sat down with representatives from the European Broadcast Union. The result was that five different frame rates of time code were agreed upon. The frame rates are; 30, 29.97, 25, 24 and drum roll please, 29.97 drop frame. Some years following the agreed upon frame rates a sixth rate, 30 drop frame was "standardized" by several manufacturers and is included today on most popular field recorders, slates and TC generators. Remember that even though NTSC color television operates at 29.97 FPS, time code readers display an even 30 frames per second. One of the compromises facing the standards committee was that the 29.97 frame rate was 0.1% slower than real time. When the time code display finally reaches one hour (01:00:00:00) the program is actually 108 frames or 0.1% too long. This translates into 3.6 seconds and is enough to make broadcast types very unhappy. The standards committee came up with 29.97 drop frame TC to cope with the difference between real time and the time code count. 29.97 DF code eliminates the first two frames every minute, except for every tenth minute. This results in the loss of 108 frames per hour and the effective resolution between an uneven frame count and real time.

Thread: Email Notification of new Posts | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah, I too would like to see just the thread itself in flat view instead of expanded showing all of the replies. Some threads get so long that I have to scroll almost all the way down a 17" monitor to get to the next post. I haven't figured out these boards very well. At first I didn't know about clicking "mark all read", and was scrolling through many pages looking at posts because they didn't seem to bump their way to the top when replied to. Now that I found "mark all read", it's a bit better and I only see new posts. Renderosity is a large and complicated site and I love it, but I hate the way the boards work.

ratscloset, did your son manage to submit his image to the gallery in time? If not, I'll PM Billy T and ask him to send my WW to your son instead of to me.

I don't use IE. I use Mozilla-Firefox and don't get the adware/spyware dunmped on my machine. I also like the options available for me to pick from... tabbed browsing rocks, as does "download'em all", and session saver. The only time I use IE is if the webpage won't work in Firefox."It is good to see ourselves as

I use poses cross figure. I find that for the most part nothing needs adjusting and if there does, it's usually due to hair or clothing, not the pose itself. I have however, been playing with the poses a bit due get used to how the joints move. So far I've been using that tool that makes the 3 axis circles (forgot the name of it) to move shoulders/collars/forearms.

Quote - Pity there's no requirement that people put a "Naked Vicki With Enormous Hooters" flag on their images
Hehe. I have no problem with nudity in images. However, I do find it pretty funny to open a picture up and see a skinny figure of a woman with boobs the size of basketballs. I assume those are mainly done by guys given the fact that most women know, at that size they would neither be pert or perky, nor would the woman be able to stand upright ;)

LOL, I read books pretty fast, but for some reason when I read anything on the computer it takes me longer and my eyes get tired. Probably the glare and the different perspective of the text...straight ahead vs down and flat.

Thank you. Real-time tutorials sound interesting. Do they sometimes happen for Poser and is there usually some advance notice, or is it just an impromtu, spur-of-the-moment thing?
I don't usually chat in chatrooms because I find it hard to keep up with who are talking to one another or just talking in general. I was just curious because I always see "no one is in chat" at the top of the forums.

Thread: New To Faceroom - Why doesn't Spawn Morph Target save a file? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm redoing my runtime folder and making it into more organized multiple runtime folders. Once done I want to do Dr.Geep's Material Room tutorial because I want to try my hand at making my own clothing textures so I don't feel so limited. I'm not sure what the face room is really for. I only use Vicky so far and I can change her face in the Pose room. I do know you can take photographs in there and "recreate" it, but I don't know what figures you would be able to use the face on other than Judy or Don. I don't think you can use them on the Millenium characters. When people make character addons, do they just use Vicky and turn the morph dials in order to get a different face and body shape or do they make their own models in a 3D program? Or do they take the head of Vicky into the face room and use photographs to recreate the face on Vicky and then save it?

Dr. Geep has some excellent tutorials. Here is a link to some of them, including the face room."It is good to see ourselves as

Sorry, I was just trying to help people who have the files. I deleted my posts and won't try and be so helpful in the future. No malice was intended.

I got my Namihei image posted to my gallery. It was a lot of fun to do. I can't wait to get Wonder Woman. I used to be a faithful fan of the TV series.
