Oh! Thank you! I saved the pages and will try those and thefixer's tips on adding my own lights. Hopefully I'll be able to get the hang of them :)

Thread: Tubes attack... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A "tube" is a an image that has no background. It's saved in a format that has no background and is able to be used over and over again.
It can be an image that has been extracted from existing art IE: a single figure, a tree, a rock, a weapon, from it's background picture.
It can also be an image that someone made specifically to be a tube IE: a poser render saved in a .png format, which is similar to a "tube" in that it has no background.
What people here are upset about is that art images are being used to make tubes. Portions of the image are being extracted for use in other things and new backgrounds being made for it, sparkly things, glitter and animation etc. Not all artists get upset about their art being used to make tubes and signature tags etc. I made a post in the copryright forum about how Greg Horn embraces and even displays what others have done with his art, on his website.

Ohhhhhhhhh! Thanks! I tried the Edit and Restore, but I clicked "all" and it destroyed my image.

Thread: Question on Lights | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
LOL, I think by the time I'm ready to move up to Poser 6, they will be releasing Poser 7, hehe There is still about 90% of Poser 5 that I have no idea about. Another question while I have you both here... Sometimes I accidently end up moving my character off the window... or almost all the way off the window. I haven't figured out how that happens. Anyway, How do I get it back to being centered like it was? I've tried using the 3 tools above the window, but sometimes even when the figure looks centered, it renders funny with the feet or head cut off when it wouldn't have otherwise. Also, sometimes when I'm changing a pose from sitting or laying to standing, the body seems to dissect the "floor" or what I take to be the floor (area with a white line around it). I haven't figure out how to get the figure back above that. Tips?

"I thought it may be easier for Acadia to do it that way to begin with as he may or may not know how to use a script [no offense intended]." I'm a girl :) And you're right, I have no idea how to use a script. The most scripting I can do is HTML...and at that it's only being able to read and understand it and tweak here and there. If that delete lights thing isn't just about pressing a button, then I won't bother looking for it. All I know how to do in poser is press buttons and turn dials :)

Thread: Question on Lights | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"Now i do all my own and generally what I do is; look at your scene and see how you want to light it then add say a sinlge light and play with it's position, height, type, colour etc. and then add more to get further effects until you're happy with the effect you want.
Hope this helps!"
I have no idea how to add lights. I've messed with that little globe and dot thingy and all I end up with is most of my window is pitch black and I don't know how to get it back to normal again so I end up deleting it all and starting from scratch each time. After several dozen failures, I gave up and just use prefabbed lights now. You're right, they they aren't ideal, but it's the only way I seem to be able to apply any type of lighting to the image at all without having 1/2 or 3/4 of the window pitch black.
I look at the globe after applying a prefabbed light and have no idea how they got all those black dots on the globe.

I found ockham's free area, but I don't see anything called "Delete Lights". I see "Delete Magnets", but nothing like that for the lights.I couldn't get a direct link to his free page, but I am resourceful and found the host site link to the files on the site.

Thank you :) I was in the tool bar clicking all kinds of things and all I ended up doing was making a mess of my image, LOL

Interesting. I saw this thread in the copyright forum too. I just did an experiment....
Some of the images that don't have a site link listed appear to be "stolen" from other tubers. The ones with links attached seem to be "originally" tubed by the site owner.
The way you can tell is if you open the tube in PSP and use the eraser tool set to 100% and about 80 in size then then right click while moving the eraser tool across the background.
Even if you transplant the image onto another backgroundless template, it will still show a the original background.
#92 (page 10, top right) is a Greg Korn (Horn?) image if you add the background back in.

The way I was shown to do it is to apply your character texture and morphs, add hair and it's texture if you want to change it, add clothing and conform, fit the clothing, pose the figure then refit the clothing to the final pose, apply clothing texture. I personally found it impossible to manipulate the clothes to fit after applying the texture to the item because it becomes see though and I can't see body parts poking through. So I personally prefer to work on the clothes until I get it right, then add the clothing texture at the very end just before adding lights and rendering.

There are others. However it's usually the disgruntled that speak up and make waves, and not those who have experienced good customer service.

I've only needed customer service one time from Curious Labs. That was last year when I bought Poser 5 online. I made the mistake of buying the downloadable version and didn't know what files to download from their site. I ended up with many and had no idea how to install it. The tech I talked to on the phone wasn't very clear on it either. But he spent about 45 minutes with me on the telephone helping me get it sorted out. Turns out I had downloaded way more files from their site than I needed, but I didn't know that a the time. The guy was nice and made sure that Poser worked before terminating the call. I have no complaints about the CS that I received. Customer service and tech support are hard jobs and often thankless ones. So many people phone up and yell at and verbally abuse the poor person on the other end of the phone, when all they are there to do is try and help you.

Thread: Warning to gallery members | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't have anything in my gallery, so I don't know how notifying artists work. But from what I understand is that news is posted on the site only. Renderosity sends out emails notifying members of items on sale etc. Why not send out news emails indicating rule changes etc. The person can either opt in or out of receiving these emails, and if they opt out and miss out on a significant change like this one being discussed, then they have no one to blame but themselves. It seems that the way news flows on this site is inconsistent from what I've been hearing people say, and not everyone goes to the main page all of the time. I know I don't. I have my book mark set to the forums, and if I want to go anywhere from here, I click the links at the top. Also, a way to avoid inappropriate images would be to have a moderated upload for images. Meaning that any images that are uploaded to the galleries is not posted until it's passed by the moderators/admins of this site, who will either release it or vito it. While that might not be an ideal answer, it would eliminate the "nudity" that some are offended by, and give the mods/admins control over what is posted in the galleries, thereby avoiding having to ban people for misunderstandings or not having been up-to-date on the rule changes.
