PNG files are lossless, which means that they do not lose quality during editing. This is unlike jpgs, where they lose quality. PNG files tend to be larger than jpgs, because they contain more information.

Thread: sending gifts | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In my first attempts at giving gifts, I accidently bought items that I wouldn't normally have purchased for myself, which meant I paid double because then I had to also go and buy it again and this time remember to designate it to a specific person.

Thread: (OT) The Hobbit Movie (Review) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I'm not going to see the movie until next Friday.
I have to admit that I am a little puzzled about how they made this fairly short book into an epic, but I love anything Tolkien, I just hope the stuff they added isn't to off the wall.
Mike
The movie is basically Old Bilbo's whole story to Frodo about his adventure and how he came to have the ring.
It was explained how the dwarves lost their mountain.
They managed to build a bit of a bridge to tie this movie into The Fellowship of the Ring.
They touched on how Bilbo came to be involved in the adventure, the trolls, deciphering the map, the capture and escape from the orcs and Bilbo's interaction with Golum. How they got to those points though was largely the imagination of Peter Jackson and his writing team.
The Hobbit glossed over a great many things. Peter Jackson "created" what Tolkien didn't.
They also introduced some elements of the story that will be expanded on in the other 2 movies.

Thread: partial pose. . . | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Here you go:
The link to the original thread: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2735288
THere is a PDF file in the original thread that Wenke made. But for some reason I can't get it to upload into this thread. I keep getting that the file does not have a valid file extention. I tried .pdf, .zip, and .txt with no luck. So if you want it, click on the link above and scroll down the thread until you get to Wenke's post.
I've been asked to expand on something I said in another thread about saving partial body poses. Here is a picture tutorial.
Step 1: Load your figure
Step 2: Inject your character morphs
Step 3: Pose your figure. Tweak the pose as necessary
Step 4. Open your Pose Library to a folder where you want to save the Partial Pose to.
Click the plus sign at the bottom of the pose library
A new window opens up
Type in a name and pick "Select Subset"
Another window pops up. Here you pick the parts of the body you want to include in your partial pose
The best thing to do when saving a partial pose is to uncheck everything and then go about selecting the few parts that you want. To uncheck everything, click "Universe"
Select the parts of the body you want in your partial pose. I want to save the leg pose, so I have picked "Hip" and all body parts below.
You have already given a name to the pose, so just click "OK"
A new window opens asking you if you want to save the morph channels.
No! You don't. If you save the morph channels when you go to apply the pose, not only will it change the pose of the figure, but it will also change the morphs to the ones that you saved with the pose.
Another window opens asking you about frames.
Save it as a single frame.
Finally, you're done. The next step is your pose being saved to your Pose Library.
I've shown how to save leg poses. But the process is the same for the upper body or just hand poses. Just make sure you are selecting only the body parts that are affected by the pose.
For arms, you would select the collar, shoulder, forearm, the hands and fingers.
For hand poses you would select just the hands and fingers.

Thread: OT - What software do you use to create your website? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
What software do you use to create your website?
Front Page 2000
HTML and Notepad
I bought Dreamweaver not long after I got Front Page but it was way to complicated. I still have it somewhere on CD and I might try it again someday.
What do you like about the program (software)?
Not really sure. It's the one I started with and I tend to stick to things I know.
At first I couldn't wrap my head around it because the tutorials that came with the program only showed you how to do one style of web page. So I bought Dreamweaver and was even more lost. So I took to learning HTML and Notepad.
I surfed around the internet and found pages that had elements that I liked and I viewed their sourcecode and edited and tweaked it to fit my needs. In time I picked up on how to create my own code.
Eventually I stumbled upon a book that walked me through the entire Front Page program and I found it was way more functional than the included tutorials showed. So with my new found knowledge of the program and my understanding of HTML, I was well on my way to making web sites. I am dyslexic and have a hard time with creating HTML, so I generally use Front Page to create the base code, and I go and tweak it as I need to.
I have a hard time learning programs so when I get comfortable with one, I tend to stick with it. Hence using a program that is about 13 years old! Though I haven't reinstalled it on my new computer with Windows 7. I'm hoping it will still be comptatable.
What do you NOT like about the program (software)?
I'm sure if I were more developoed in web page design that I would find things to not like about the program. But for what I use it for, it works well enough for me.
If you could change something in the program, i.e., add, delete, modify, etc., what would you change?
I'd include better tutorials to show that the program can actually produce more than one web page style.**
**
Or, do you use an ouside service (vendor), that is, you do not produce the html code for your website? If you do, who do you use?
I want to create another web page, but I want it in CSS which I don't understand at all. So sometime next year I'm going to look around for a local firm to price one out for me.

Thread: Completely baffled by conforming clothes. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you have Poser 6 and above, you can use most conforming skirts/dresses in the cloth room. Simply clothify the hip of the garment.

Sounds like you will need to use magnets to finish up the process of hiding the hair within the hat.

Thread: Completely baffled by conforming clothes. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - What about garments that hang from the chest or shoulders? That's where I have the most problem with getting clothes to conform. They just don't hang right over the breasts.
Unfortunately I think the conforming clothing in the cloth room only works for the hip, not parts above or below. For conforming clothing to fit breasts, I was using Wardrobe Wizard version 1.

Thread: OT What's your New Year's Resolution relative to Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - As the subject says what your New Year's Resolution relative to Poser?...
Happy New Year!!!
I don't have any resolutions regarding Poser. A few months ago my computer hard drive failed and I must have done something wrong, because my external hard drive was wiped out like it had been reformatted. I tried all kinds of programs to recover data, but there just isn't anything on the drive to recover. So I've given up on Poser. I lost all of my content and runtimes, and it's just too much hassel to try and redownload it all again and reinstall it. Some things that I treasured are no longer available, and lots of it were gifts and beta tested products and freebies.
So I'm going to work on learning how to use my tablet and work on learning digital painting, and likely go back into web design again.

Thread: Semi OT: Out of the game | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I hope you feel better soon Paul! I've been wondering where you've been. Though I haven't been around much myself either. I was without a computer for a bit, and now that I have a new one, something went wonky and I lost all of the data on my external hard drives, even though the drives still work, it was like they have both been completely reformated. Tried several programs to recover data, but there is nothing there to recover. So I'm out of Poser. I lost all of my content and runtimes and it's just too much effort to download everything again and reinstall runtimes.
My old computer has the following parts that are still good:
2 gigs memory
Fan
A motherboard of some kind
A power supply unit
DVD burner
If you are interested I can look up what they actually are and if you are interested, and the bits fit into Glitterati's Motherboard and case, I can ship them across the pond to you :)

Thread: Seeking Voice Actors | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think I would be up for this, so long as I don't have to install Poser or an animation program.
I've been told that I have a nice voice. And back in junior high school, a very long time ago, in English class we had to act out a Shakespear play via tape recording. Unfortunately I was rather nerdy back then, and so was my best friend, so it was just the 2 of us having to act out a play that had several characters.... 7 or 8 I think.
Our English teacher was so impressed by it that he asked if he could play it for the class. We were so horrified by that and declined. I can't even imagine the bullying that would have taken place had he played it in class. We did get an A+
I did a video tutorial here, you can hear me speaking.

Good video tut by the way too... did you do any others that are kicking about to watch?
Thank you :)
No. I had planned on doing several others, but haven't gotten around to it. I had a computer crash and lost all of my Poser content including my runtimes, so I'm not really in the mood to install Poser and try and find all of the content and start on my runtime again. Just too much effort.

Quote - Maybe, when you can eventually face the task of starting again, you should record a tutorial covering the various ins and outs of content installation! :)
Quite seriously, that would be a highly worthwhile tut to have here I suspect...
I still might do some tutorials for Poser. You don't have to install a bunch of content to do it. The basic content would work just fine.
But I'm seriously done with Poser so far as "art" creation is concerned, at least for the foreseeable future. I just have no desire to redownload all of my content and work at installing it all again. Way too much effort and it doesn't appeal to me at all. Plus a lot of my runtime consisted of things that were freebies that aren't available any longer and content from other stores that no longer exisit. It's too depressing to think about.
