BIG THANKS AJAX!!! I had no idea I could do that with cr2Editor. Makes life so much easier. I will pass that on. Meanwhile, a kind friend has sent me instructions on how to turn the bolt into a morph target.

Speaking as a modeller, the answer is no. The nearest I think you can get is to use a transparency map, but that will only make it possible to see through something. You can't for instance combine two objects, if one had a hole in it, and the other was solid, and expect the hole to punch the solid. It won't work. Poser just isn't that intelligent (useful). One suggestion. Go to the MAXON Cinema 4D web site. They may still have Cinema 4DXL v6 on special offer. It's a bargain price (at least it is in the UK). I got it and started modelling.

Sorry ironhart, I don't think I can do that. You see when I turn the cottage into a Poser character, the x y z trans dials dissapear, leaving only the rotation dials.

I'm working on cottages and such buildings. They will soon be available as Poser ready freebies on my web site. This is my first with opening windows, door, stairs, inglenook fireplace and working window catches etc. I'm also making accessories like fireplace ironware and a few items of furniture.
I'm hoping to post this cottage very soon, just as soon as someone kindly sends me instructions for how to make a sliding door bolt morph target for the door - which incidentally is a 'character' item, not a 'prop' item. Maybe someone can e mail me with instructions at = George279@southpole800.freeserve.co.uk - Then you will all get the cottage for free.

Thread: What use is the Poser wave deformer???? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Okay. Could somebody please explain why you say simple shapes 'don't have enough points to deform'. I take it that 'points' are something to do with the geometry. I tried to deform a simple flat square from the props library and it deformed into a bit of a wavey form, but the edges deformed at right angles at the same time, i.e. in a different direction. Result chaos. It seems to me that the dial settings should be kept very low. Surely the flag shown above is made from one simple flat prop. Isn't it? I can understand a seascape being made of tiled waves, but not a flag. I've downloaded the wave sample that jamball suggested, but haven't got around to trying anything since yesterday. I'll have to try tomorrow. I honestly don't mean to be rude to you good people, but let's face it, Poser is badly in need of a good tutorial on wave deformers, with examples and sample dial settings. If I ever get the hang of this I'll do one. I refuse to be beaten by a stupid dumb machine!!

Thank you all. I am taking notes on all this. As for 'wave properties' I think I've obviously missed something.

Thank you!! I didn't realise that the position of the wave object had any effect. I see that scale is important too. I'll give it a try.

Thank you, perhaps that makes some sense. In theory it should be dead easy to use. Maybe my mistake is trying to apply it to simple Poser prop shapes, like the plane or cube. I just can't understand why there are dozens of tutorials on Poser magnets, which are very easy to use, and none on wave deformers. Come to think of it, I just don't see any forum posts on this subject either!!

Hi. Here's some help for you. If you go to www.turbosquid.com and go to 'Characters' page 18, you'll find a Poser character of Jesus on the cross. It's priced at $30. Should be worth it as it's a real Poser character. DON'T pass up turbosquid, it's the biggest props and character resource on the net. Many items are free too. I haven't finished looking through the architecture section yet so there might be a stable somewhere. Also, go to www.poserworld.com where you will find Jewish Poser (male) characters in period colourful dress, as well as Roman characters and props too. However, poserworld is a subscription site, so these aren't free, BUT WORTH the joining fee, every cent. Take a minimum subscription and download the characters you want. I think that www.renderocity.com or www.propsguild.com have a free crib available. Look through propsguild free sections. I'm pretty certain I saw a crown of thorns head prop there. Might look good as a graphic for a title page. Hope that's of some help to you. I'll keep an eye open for other items for you, as I'm interested too.

Thank you for your kind reply. However, I am not a mass downloader, but then that's neither of our faults if some people are. By some miracle I have now managed to download my 15MB order, only hope it works. I do appreciate your concerns about theft, a policy that ultimately serves to only penalise the innocent like you and me!!
