As a member of the Digital Entity Rights Association, I agree completely that we need to find a new moniker for the digital entity currently being referred to as the "Freak." (1) It is demeaning and insulting, not to mention in violation of said entity's basic liberties. I call upon all like minded individuals to join me in supporting legislation that will outlaw all such derogatory labels from being applied to digital entities in the future. Also the DERA is willing to provide legal counsel for any and all digital entities who wish to file libel and slander suits. (2) (1) The DERA has managed to obtain secret DAZ documents regarding the "Freak." According to these documents, the Freak's real name is Mortimer J. Smith. However it was felt by DAZ officials that the name Mortimer was not sufficiently "impressive" and would impact negatively on said entity's popularity. (2) At present, the DERA is in the process of filing a separate lawsuit on behalf of digital entites who feel that they have been in any way exploited or taken advantage of. If you or anyone you know fits this description, please contact a DERA representative immediately.
Thread: Anyone have any Archery Poses ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you have a subscription to PoserStyle, I think there are some Archery poses there. IIRC it's for Vicky 2 but it should work OK with some tweaking.
Thread: Icon system for MAT files. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Assuming I understand properly what a MOR is, how about a little hand icon (as in "reshaping")? And if you're going to do INJ/REM poses, an empty/full syringe comes to mind.

re: Riddokun's idea....it sounds good on the surface but I'd be against it. Some people just aren't good at any sort "artistic" endeavor, be it painting, drawing, writing, etc. Does that mean that these people don't know good art if/when they see it? It's the old question of can only an artist recognize good art? It comes up here from time to time as well as in other forums where art and creative pursuits are the focus. I'm not a very good freehand artist. I can draw recognizable shapes and occassionally even produce a decent drawing. But I won't ever be making a living as an illustrator. Does that automatically invalidate any opinions I might have on someone else's artwork? I don't think so. I've gotten some whacked comments on my images before. One in particular I just found...strange. It's happened to quite a few of us I imagine. Some people suggest that comments from people without galleries should just be ignored or dismissed. Here's something to ponder: would you likewise ignore a POSITIVE comment from someone who didn't have a gallery here? Mind you I'm not saying that some people don't deserve to be ignored. There are people who are genuine A-holes, who just don't have anything worthwhile to contribute. All I'm saying is that I personally wouldn't use a gallery (or lack thereof) as a basis on which to make a decision.

Doh! Accidently deleted my reply to this thread. Don't feel like retyping it all. The gist of it was: It happens. Sooner or later you're bound to see a comment that's like "eh whatever." At least, that's my reaction when it happens. YMMV.

You can get the M3 morph pack for under 10 bucks right now at DAZ. If you don't want to do that though, and you really don't like M3 you can always contact DAZ about a refund assuming you purchased your upgrade within 30 days.
Thread: Real clothes people desperately seeking Mike 3 stuff...check out Daz | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Personally I've always felt that the more morphs for clothing the better. It only adds to the versatility. I can't model stuff so I don't know how hard it is to add in more of those body morphs, but you never know when you'll need to dress a particular body type in a particular outfit. Skinny, fat, muscular, it's all good. I have to say though, I was happy to see the M3 casual set at Daz today. Looks good. Can't wait for the M3/Freak gangster set they mentioned on the DAZ forums. :)

Doh! Can't believe I forgot Poserpros. I just recommended it in another thread for cheap V3 stuff the other day. Must be slipping. But yeah, I agree. Poserpros is another good place to get stuff.
Thread: M3 Woes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Bang for the buck wise, joining one of the subscription sites might be a good move. For a flat fee, you get access to a bunch of stuff, M3 related or otherwise. Both Poserworld and PoserStyle have some good stuff. IIRC I think Poserworld had more in terms of M3 clothing though, especially what you would consider "normal" clothing. I believe Phil C (philc.net) also has a set of M3 clothes right now for a cheapie price. Also if you're a member of the Platinum club at DAZ, I'll second SamTherapy's recommendation for the V3 male textures. Actually even if you're not a member, the V3 male pack is half off right now (you can get it for 10 bucks) and you can just take the textures from it. But if you're a PC member, you can get the nordic (I think that's what it's called) texture pack for 99 cents. The Platinum club has some good hair available as well, which you can use with Mike 3. Also some of Kozaburo's hair looks alright on M3 (the messy hair works well for example).

Yeah I've been digging those screenshots you've been posting in the Carrara forum BT. Kick ass. re: the Carrara-Poser plugin...I did send an email to Eovia once asking about it. Someone there (Jim Lumley I think?) sent me a reply. I was told that there would be a plugin for Carrara 3 and Poser 5 (he didn't know if it would work w/ Poser 4) announced "shortly after the Macintosh release of Poser 5."
Thread: Carrara Studio 3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I use Carrara 3. Haven't had the time to really get into it and learn all the neat stuff but I have been using it to render my poser figures. All the recent stuff in my gallery (everything from Sphere Man v2 onwards) is Carrara rendered. What can I say, the educational discount combined with the fact that Carrara is OS X native and doesn't crash on me like Poser does (especially with high res textures) made it too good to resist. Like LawnDart said, you can't import pz3 files directly, but you can import the poser figs as OBJ files. Getting the transparency maps to work takes a little bit of doing at first until you get into the groove though. But yeah, I like it. Haven't played too much with the non photoreal render modes though.
Thread: Where can I get V3 skins? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Another good place to get some stuff is PoserPros. They have a few V3 texture packages in their Proclubs line which is like $2.49 each. Other than that, yeah Renderosity has some under the freebie section. Also some of the subscription sites might be worth checking out. Poser World and PoserStyle both have textures and bunches of other goodies like clothes and props which you get as part of the subscription. No need to pay for each individual item separately. Pretty cool.
Thread: Those eyes from Poser obj import | Forum: Carrara
Snekkis, I've found that it's slightly different depending on which figure you're importing. Working with Michael 2 for example, I did notice the wacky cracks n stuff with the eyebrows. Usually what I do is just set the eyebrow to transparent. Also the eyeball itself needs to be dealt with. With Michael 3 and Vicky 3, I haven't noticed any problems or wackiness in the eyebrow area or with the eyeball. The cast ironflamingo tutorial IIRC does have screenshots for the various transparency settings so that should get you started. That's the same tutorial I used to figure it out. Pay special attention to the settings he uses for the transparency and the opacity maps. The principle is basically the same with or without Grouper. I'm on a Mac so no Grouper for me, but I was able to follow along with the castiron flaming tutorial no prob.
Thread: Gallery Comments.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I noticed the same thing, but the comment itself seemed to go through OK when I checked the image again. Hopefully it will be fixed soon though.
