As stated above, DAZ 3D is the NEW company that has taken all of Zygote's Poser content, and will be a Poser Only company. Zygote will still cater to all the other meshes and maps including Bryce and Character Studio (I believe). DAZ 3D has been trying to make the move as seamlessly as possible, but with any major move or new development of a company, things will be snagged for a time. As for the "lack" there really hasn't been one. While the fountian was up, DAZ was giving away "FIVE" free models over the holiday, gingerbread cookie and Michael santa, etc. The link from Zygote to DAZ has always been there, but not so obvious in the begining, but now if you go to the free section at Zygote, it will take you to DAZ 3D, and the NEW Ice Cream Sundae. They will still be doing a free model once a week, so Bookmark http://www.daz3d.com for all your Poser needs. James PS: I am by no means an employee with Zygote or DAZ 3D. Also you should have received e-mail anoucements via e-mail if you were on Zygote's e-mail list (you have to join the list to download the items anyway). And if you were on Zygote's list you are automatically on DAZ 3D's.
Thread: Wanted Long Medevil dress | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
And no ar2g, John W did not do that one , I did. With Joint params help by Phil and Jeff. Well Close Balaan, That was my old e-mail address.(no longer valid) I made that dress eons ago. And when I changed my service providers, I had to remove all my freebies. I'm still in the change over, so I have but don't have a place to store it. And also I really don't remember where I have it on my hard drives. I'll have to look around and see where it is, and I'll TRY to repost it this weekend. James - AKA jschoen, JamesSF

Thanks wywulf. I wasn't sure that I had gotten the whole PCF thing correct. My first time. James

The one by Debra is fine for a distant render. The texture is quite nice. But for a close up it just doesn't make it. it is a lumpy mesh that works well again as I said as a figure in the distance. Dedicated Digital claims to have one on the Animal CD $149.00 (pricy) http://www.dedicateddigital.com/ I have e-mailed them to ask if they indeed had it and would be willing to sell it separately. No answer from them at all, and it's been awhile since I asked :( James PS. I too am into the whole Harry Potter craze ;-) I did a Harry portrait in a previous thread. Search for Harry Potter.
Thread: creating a beard morph | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The Beard from DAZ/Zygote is great for this, it is a prop, but has all the morph targets for the face, and it can be lengthened and moved. Or I believe there are several face morphs that are for the P4 male and Michael (comes with his own mostache and beard face morphs) on some of the URLS to the right, also search for morph World 2. These are good for close cropped facial hair and full NO transparancy beards. I prefer a separate prop, you have more control on size length etc. Hope this helps. James
Thread: Please learn to compress | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Black Spell, The image is indeed of a lesser quality. But I think good enough for the forum. Quite good in some compressions too. And if there is interest in seeing more detail and the need to see the large file. Then you can always repost with a warning, or send it via e-mail to whoever requests it. Or as mentioned above. Place it in the gallery. I do agree that some art that has been here I would have liked to see it larger and with more detail. So I have asked some members and corresponded via e-mail to view these. I also got to know these people better. Well I'm rambling on and its late. ;-) James

One other thing. A small compressed file without all its information is less likely be something that someone would steal and try to use. But as a wallpaper or inspiring printout who wouldn't steal an image or two from the talented artists here? ;-) And really with the new jpeg compressions in Adobe PhotoShop(high-end-expensive for Mac and PC) and Paint Shop Pro (It is PSP I'm thinking about, right? lo-end-Affordable for the PC)and and Adobe PhotoShop Lite affordable also for the Mac and PC) jpeging (new word giggle) is a breeze to do. WOW! Everything is just great! Where'd you getthe great hyroglyphs? I love all the props, and I really love the woman. No need in my opinion to change her to Bast (cat head). Perfect knife Sharky. Is that around for download? Better yet, can you explain how you created it? Again everything is simply wonderful. My only sugesstion would be to make the lighting much more moody (darker). Torch light only. James
Thread: Colonial address by the Queen herself.. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks Rena, I know how some messages get mis-read or just don't come off the way they should. ;-) 2000 dpi! Wow must be a tremendous file (size). I need a new scanner :( Thought I'd get one for the holidays, oh well. I also wish (like the olden days) it was easier to find hi-res images over the net. Thinking, a new section here would be great with a URL database of found hi-res images. Faces, textures and such. I do try to gleen every URL mentioned on the boards, but miss quite a few. Thanks also to those who will appriecieate the mini tut. You just keep giving and giving (this is a very good thing). I myself Use Poser 4, PhotoShop, UVmapper, (Infini-D and Carrara for modeling) to do basicly the same thing. James

Yes Kalypso, I know very well of Rena's work. And what I meant is the reference material she aquires to come up with to create the final tex map. Not the tex map itself. I was complimenting the whole process and the artist. James
Thread: Newbie Question, I know hoe much you ahte these... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
First off, welcome to a simply wonderful forum. Morph files can be placed in any folder. I have several folders in the Root directory of Poser. Example: Poser/vickymorphs, Poser/p4malemorphs, etc. This way you have the correct morphs in a folder that makes sense to you. As for placing files where they need to go, like pp2, cr2, obj, right now I only trust Zygote/DAZ 3D's installers. As a rule (even on a MAC) I stay away from any .exe file from the web unless I'm 100% sure it does not contain any virus. Even the best intentions of the nicest people sometimes get a virus attached in a .exe file. For the Mac there is a program that attempts to place all the nessary file in their place "Steve Cox's program" I forget the name. But it still is better in my humble opinion to follow the readme instructions and place them in the proper place manually. It is a good habit and you end up always knowing where files are going. hope this helps. James
