Hmmm, Poser 4, eh? Let's see if I can remember that far back ;-) Are these stock Characters Like Michael 2 and Vicki 2, or custom creations of your own? In either case, the problem seems to be that the textures are not mapped properly to the figure. Try this: 1) Extract your textures to a sub-folder in the Textures directory. It really doesn't matter where, just as long as you know where they all are. 2) Open the character file. 3) Click on the figure and then make certain that you have the entire Body selected (the two lists under the document window can be used for this, as can the Info pallet). 4) Once you know you have the body selected, go to the Materials Menu and use that to "map" the textures to the body (CTRL+M, or under the Render menu). I hope this helps. If not, try posting a sample of the figure that isn't taking the texture. That might help me figure out what's going on. By the way, there is a bunch of stuff you can do by editing the CR2 file to fix misplaced maps, but I'm not qualified to help you with that ;-) Good luck.

I think we need a little more info before we can help you. Specifically, are you using Poser 4, Poser 4 with Pro Pack, or Poser 5? Also, be a little more specific about what you're trying to do. Do you have textures on old models that are not rendering correctly, or do you have textures on old models that you would like to apply to new work? By the way, textures are stored in a separate textures library/folder. That's the first place you should look. Oh, and welcome back to Poser!

I just have to thank Elle of Odd Ditty Foundry for coming through in a pinch this past weekend. She created a perfect Wild West safe for my project. I'm putting the finishing touches on the image I rendered and will post the results soon (gotta finish the typesetting and illustration chores before I can get back to posting images here). Thanks to EVERYONE, especially COOLER, for helping me in my time of need.

This is awesome! My deadline has passed for this part of the project, but I will be returning to it VERY soon to update some of the artwork and this will be a perfect addition to the scene. The dial turns? Cool!

Thread: For those with Poser 5 that are frustrated, help at hand! :) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Is there even any content in the content room? Last time I checked, the site was being redesigned. I would love to kill that tab and speed things up a bit. By the way, one of the MOST powerful features for me is the ability to create multiple Runtime Directories. I have created them by project and theme. For instance, I'm working on a logo for a client, so I created a Runtime Directory for JUST this project. It has all the figures, clothes, textures, and materials in that one directory. This makes it a breeze to take bak and forth between my office and synchronize the two directories so I never get the dreaded "can't find that object" message. Also, if you set your default directory to a small (or empty) Runtime Folder, Poser starts up MUCH faster because it doesn't have to read through the directory during start up.

Cooler -- I couldn't find the TOS for your freebies at 3D Commune. Is the bank cleared for use in a commercial project? I just downloaded everything and am pretty sure I can use most of the props there (especially the teller cages and money bags). AntoniaTiger -- You're right, I should have provided reference photos. I will definitely do that next time ;-) I'll try these models tonight (also downloaded the sys safe) and I'm getting some help from the kind folks over at RuntimeDNA. If they get something for me I'll post the link here. Thanks!

Thanks for the link! It's close, but not quite what I need. Nevertheless, I have added it to my Wishlist so I can use it if I can't find anything better. Thanks again!

Armorbeast -- You misread me. I do comment on newbies, and I tend to be gentle with them. I also do not comment only on established artists, but those who show some artistic merit. I don't care if they're established or not. In fact, I never pay attention to who the artist is until after I see the image (and I almost never actually go to the artists page). It's just that there must be SOME basic level of talent apparent before I'll invest the time to write something; hopefully the artist is here to improve their skill, but without some basic ability, well... To put it crudely, I don't waste my time commenting on things that totally suck. By the way, I like your suggestion about an alternative way to pick a Top Artist. I've never even been to the Top 20 here... maybe I'll mosey over and see what's there.

First of all, unless the poster is a newbie begging for comments, I seldom reply on anything that doesn't have some artistic merit and that is at least "good" by my standards. I occasionally leave an oooh or ahhh comment, but I usually try to tell them something specific about what I like. Now, I have a degree in journalism and have worked as a professional editor at a newspaper. There, we routinely worked with creative professionals (writers, artists, photographers, layout people, ad people, etc.). There, we were taught how to give criticism so that it would be well received. 1) Start with something nice. Not false flattery, but something specific and concrete that you like or enjoy. What made you bother to take the time to comment on it in the first place? 2) Even if there are 200 things that could be done better, try to mention only 1-3 concrete, specific things that could be changed or improved. 3) Close with something positive. I hope this doesnt sound contrived or manipulative, but this actually works (especially since, as I said, I dont waste time on work I dont like), but if people will follow this format, youll leave comments that will be helpful and well received.
