How hard to you want to work at it? You could probably make the shape of the trail you want with primitives and use magnets to tweak the shapes. And then use transmaps to make them semi-tranparent, adding noise nodes in the material room to give them the illusion of having small particles. I made a great looking fire stream for a dragon just using a cone and a ball and applying displacement and turbulance nodes to give it texture.
Thread: Best Application for Render Results | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Kind of like asking which is the best motor vehicle. Depends what you want to do. A Corvette is lousy for hauling rocks, a Ford F150 pick-up doesn't corner that well, and neither one works very well in a dirt bike motocross. Figure out what you want to do specifically and then look for a renderer that meets those requirements.

Clicking only injects the morph. You have to turn the dials in the parameter window to make it do anything. Look in the window pulldown menu at the top and click on parameters. Usually you set it to 1.000, but setting it to lower values, like 0.200, lets you make subtle changes. The eye color has me stumped. Are you using eye colors intended for V3? Mat poses intended for other figures won't work.

If you get Wings 3D (a free object modeling program) there is a tutorial on making hair using Wings 3D.

You might also want to ask this question in the Poser Python Scripting forum here at Rendoristy. Just scroll down the list of forums, it is toward the middle bottom. Lots of interesting stuff and helpful people there.

Thread: What Do You Use The Most For Post-Work? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't use anything. I do it all in Poser 5. To me postwork is cheating. If you can't get it to look right in Poser, you just aren't trying hard enough.

I'd say 1 gig is the perfect amount for Poser 5. Less and it bogs down, more is just wasted.
Thread: Bump map question for P5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poser 5 can use jpegs, you don't need to convert them to .bums, in fact Poser 5 doesn't even have the option of converting jpegs to bums. Just plug the jpeg directly into the bump channel (note: don't ust the Gradient_bump). Also Bump in Poser 5 is a lot more sensative so you only need to set it to around 0.03

The cylinder all but flattended out is the key to your problem. Add a little bit of separation to the top and bottom of the cylider. What you are seeing is the bottom of the cylinder overlapping the top of the cylinder because they are to close together. And alternative would be to put a little displacement on your texture, maybe about 0.01. But just moving the top and bottomn of the cylinder apart is probably easier.
Thread: rendering question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Another good tip is to click on "remove backfacing polygons
in your render options if you aren't trying to render a
reflection or something like that. Then the renderer doesn't
waste time trying to render what you can't see behind the model.

Render and save each frame individually and then use a 3rd party program to join the individual frames into a movie.
