why not make separate obj for several shoulder-girdle postures? I guess that would be the easiest way to avoid known problems like in the millenium figures. example: arm above shoulder-height, arm below shoulder height.

-support of n-gons? -support of SubPoly displacement? (both supported in Poser5) -support of Poser5's materials? -sss (subsurface scattering)? -import, export? -HDRI support? -DOF? In what domains does it beat Wings and/or Silo, except for direct Poser import (see questions above)?

It's a pity rockfish cannot be downloaded as I'd love to show it to friends of mine (in New Zealand) who have a 3kB connection to the net (no dsl or cable available over there)

If you are not into animation, and/or do not want to rig your character in Cinema (CBmaps are of course much better for joints than Poser's antiquated method), there isn't much difficulty though. You can follow jddog's tutorial here at R. to see how you can open a posed V3 or whatever in C4D and how you can apply the textures to it. The most important things are a/ export from poser as obj, b/ import settings for obj in Cinema multiply with some hundred and c/ change to default view. It is a bit tedious having to import and assign the textures, but it's well worth the trouble. There is a plug-in, created by Spanky, that expands obj import and export in Cinema, but that is, for the moment, only for WinPC's. otoh, now that Cinema9 is out, I personally wouldn't upgrade to 8.2 anymore. If you pose in Poser and then export, you can easily use soft selections and tweak mode to correct joints.

there is already a thread on this by Timotheo (some twenty posts earlier. And then there is the Mad at Daz post by thebert, some seven posts earlier. Both on this same page when your post is/was number one. ;)

Thread: XP SP2?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Does it make XP accept more than 2GB of RAM? I don't care about that safety rubbish as I know how to protect myself: 1/ Use a router with a hardware firewall (also good for mac-users!) 2/ Use an older, slower puter for the Net, and only for that 3/ Have a virus scanner that auto updates daily 4/ Run Spybot s&d 5/ Surf with Opera or Mozilla 6/ Use webmail.

The crit that would help more would be: in my opinion, you need to make the hair better as it is not yet on the same level as (this and that) which I consider to be the strong points of your work. Be honest, start with what needs work and END with what's positive.

The only thing that disappoints me is that several really mediocre works get an "excellent" from he first visitor. I sometimes think it must be the artist himself, logging in under a different name... Otoh, the same happens when well-known vendors praise eachother's new upload as superhyper and can't live without. ehhh... Pornography? No high-end culture, be it Egyptian, Indian or Greek knew it, and nowhere it is more popular (and a selling product) than in a society where nudity is shameful, and sex is something you publicly deny. Otoh, I prefer to look at the positive side, and that is that I did discover several really very good artists here at R., some of whom are not even that well known. A good trick to discover a goldmine-gallery is to go to the artists pages of people you like, and try out their favourite artists and images. This said: R. is a site for the masses (the more dear valued customers the merrier)and that means, inevitably, that those who make most noise (the moral minority) get it their way.

Metastopholis: you found the solution yourself. Not all videocards/drivers can work with DX9, only the "latest" ones.

Thread: In Search of Whiskey :) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Glenlivet is whisky. Single Malt from Speyside to be more precise. Glenlivet was the first distillery to get an authorisation from English authorities. Whiskey is Irish. If I get hold of the labels, I'll model one. If you have a bit of time that is.

Maya is more a group-tool than an individual one. I mean: it is used in studios by several people who work together. Although it has lost some of its plumes, it is still a reference for people who don't know any better (I am NOT saying it isn't a very good tool, only that it doesn't have that supremacy aura anymore in many 3D circles. Max is now about the most expensive. No that easy to learn I am told, but by far the most used in the game industry. Lightwave is also a bit slowing down. All three are high end, but if it is for finding a job...3D land is changing, and who knows what will be in two years from now? So say you have to go for Max or Maya is an opinion on what now is, but a guess for where the future's concerned. My suggestion is: go and talk with the teachers, and if possible, see them in action. And decide based on that. A good teacher is more important than an app. If you ever go to a studio, they will look at what you made (technical and creativity) and then thy will ask you what app. If you know one, you can easily learn another one. But if you're not creative, they won't take you. My two cents

Thread: Renderosity Market Place items and MAC users - what are the issues? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poser was originally created for macinosh computers. These do not need resource files as the resource info is inside the so-called fork of the file. When Poser became available for Win-users, a solution had to be found for the fork-that-was-lacking. Hence Resource (.rsr) files. When a product comes with a .rsr ile, this info has to be implemented into the fork of the mac-file. That is the problem, and the solution was offered by steveshanks.

Perhaps it is because I never use P4 or PP and that I mainly work with another app that I prefer to do my own settings in P5. After getting the habit of moving the gradient bump to the real thing, I started adding textures in the MatRoom. Poser becomes much easier to use when one gets rid of all those mat files. Shaders are, of course, nice, but not a general solution for everything. But that is another discussion, and off-topic here.
