Thread: Bad Times | Forum: Bryce
There is already plenty of opportunity to spend hours creating Poser/Daz content in applications and giving it away for free. If you have lots of free time and no need to use it for survival then you can run them out of business as is. You don't need to wait for a new kind of Bryce. If Bryce did get that kind of functionality some would make freebies and some might try and sell their efforts here or Daz or somewhere else. There does seem to be a disturbing thread building that the only good product is one that doesn't benefit the owner. It's not just here but all over the Web. A kind of "I want it for free, cater to my needs and if it benefits you, then you're exploiting me." Just a final level check, I know there are people that Are shamelessly exploiting buyers and producing poor products and giving little service for too much money. I don't like that either. I just don't see the Daz thing as being inherently evil.
Thread: Bryce has a new home. | Forum: Bryce
Man, negativity reigns supreme over here. I hear what you guys are worried about re: the "hobbyist" label . But from where I sit Bryce was never going to stand toe-to-toe against Maya, Lightwave, or SoftImage etc. It has never had the control. You want it to. I wanted it to but for the price you still get a lot of power. I know you know because you're so passionately wanting to defend it from corruption. I still believe that you (me/we) can be a part of the solution and this new-Bryce is just at the beginning. Give it a chance. If your worst fears are realized maybe the good news is you'll find a better interface.
Thread: Bryce has a new home. | Forum: Bryce
I rushed over here to the Bryce forum thinking I could witness the "dancing in the street after the Berlin Wall had been torn down". I'm surprised to hear so many people complaining "but they're destroying my grafitti!" While I know that there are a lot of people who do some Amazing modeling in Bryce and some Amazing abstract images that won't benefit from Daz objects, I doubt that the new Bryce will keep you from doing that. The anti-Daz contingent: Is it mostly new modeling tools you want? I can understand wanting them. Sorry there isn't more joy over here as I thought. Personally I had to give up on Bryce because of it's limitations and creating environments (as beautiful as they were) devoid of people just wasn't working for my needs. Hopefully I might be able to revive my presence here. Best of luck to us all.
Thread: DAZ buys Bryce....ROFLIMAO | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I agree with the branch of this thread that points to the idea that the big deal isn't that Daz will own Bryce and there will be a new tiny logo in the corner but... that if they own the software could incorporate the render engine (which I was always happy with) and allow us to put moving Daz people into those environments which was always lacking. I walked away from using Bryce two years ago so I could learn Lightwave. I would prefer a faster way of getting my Daz people in that environment. But we shall see.
Thread: NEW DAZ CLUES for "Where In The World Is Dan Farr"!!!??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Don't know anything about Inspire but I would be thrilled beyond imagination to have a completely fool-proof way of getting all my Daz assets into Lightwave. I've been dragging my feet on the Greenbriar plug-ins because of skepticism and $ but being worn down by the experience of Poser I hope Daz will announce some alt route to upgrading to Poser 5. Sorry, I didn't get the horse-joke.
Thread: A list of abbreviations? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
MW = Millenium Woman LS = I don't know, I have seen SP stand for Stephanie Petite PT = preteen, boy or girl PS = preschool boy or girl I would love a list of abbreviations of all the FBM's and PDMCC's that come up in conversations about Poser. Okay, FBM = Full Body Morph but there are a bunch more I have never figured out and can't see what they do when I turn the dial.
Thread: Why so many pinups? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
sort of a recap in my own words, a trillion years of bio-engineering, and we are the result. Women see reality through an estrogen filter, men see it through a testosterone filter. And if you think those drugs/hormones don't make a difference re-read this entire thread. Men have no choice to be driven. To the degree that we can be conscious of who and what we are we might begin to have a say over how we get there but we are driven. (sex drive) BTW, there are, of course, many men and women who have found themselves with varying amounts of said hormones, too much of one, not enough of another who completely blur the gender lines. And lastly, I agree, it's a control thing re: Pinups. One doesn't have to ask Vicki's permission to make her breasts morph to 11.
Thread: poser 6? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Dear M. Rocks, Re: seeing what to commit to for the next two years First a question: Do you primarily want it to animate or do you mostly want to do still images? I've been using Poser since P2 and I'm up to P4 Pro at this point. I find Lightwave much easier to animate in, although the learning curve is a little more steep than Poser. Despite my best efforts and lots of help from people here at Renderosity I have never successfully gotten the Poser plug in to work with Lightwave. The result, Poser is still part of my production pipeline. Do you need to get crowds of people on screen at once? Do you have a high end, lots of RAM lots of CPU power machine? Poser is a bit of a hassle when it comes do dealing with a lot of characters. I have work arounds but it would be nice to deal with several characters at the speed at which lightwave does. This is very much a subjective opinion that can not include several pkgs as I have never used any others, except for Wavefront and Softimage but they don't really count here. PS, I don't mean to rustle feathers of any die hard Poser fans in their own forum. I'm clearly still loyal to the pkg but the whole Poser 5 drama has made me take a wait and see attitude before I continue. I hope some of that rambling helped.
Thread: poser 6? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
http://www.cocs.com/poser/poser5mess.htm Came across this the yesterday, its long and as the title specifies, an editorial. It was great to have some one lay out the whole history of what happened and over what period of time Poser 5 was released and in what stages. If you want an in depth answer to your question, go there.
Thread: PROBLEMS IN MAC OS X!!!!!!! | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Astounded to find it in my download section today @ Daz. Just suffered the three hours of download to get it and then rushed over here to this very thread to hear these warnings. Thanks for that. I'll let you know how it hurts when I try and run it, later.
Thread: Elgyfu's naughty pictures - certain people beware! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Nudity makes human beings crazy. Covered up nudity makes human beings crazy. Nudity revealed to humans who are used to seeing it covered up makes them crazy. If you think you aren't affected by any of the three statements or you are "above" the whole nudity issue, no matter what side of it you are on, you Are crazy. I'm crazy for thinking I could break the cycle of craziness over nudity by writing a post about it in a software forum. ...and I'm Crazy for lu-uvin' Youuuuuuu! -Willie Nelson
Thread: re hi res textures for mike 3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In the material editor, when you look at the texture map list do you see the M3 Hires texture in that list? when you're back in the posing room are you clicked on the last little ball that represents shading with textures? Did you load the texture via a mat pose?
