I am very sorry for what you and your family are going through. My mother is actually in a similar spot so I empathize deeply with your situation.
My thoughts and prayers are with you - I hope you can find some measure of peace and calm during this turbulent time.

Sure hope you get back to this today.
Full Body method is fine, I assume I will be able to transfer the knowledge over into only partial morphs anyway.

Well guess what...It did not work lol. I followed the above instructions about allowing it to install to the default runtime location...then I installed v4 to the default runtime location. With this dummy poser.exe. Initialized and updated v4.
Open up Poser, look under figures in library for any trace of V4 and ....dun dun dun: Nothing.
I can access her from external runtimes still but I greatly prefer for my main figures to be located inside the main runtime. It keeps things clean for me.
Soooo what to do now?... :(

PC / Windows 7 64 bit
Please tell me more about these possible issues.
I was able to just reinstall her into an external runtime labled DAZ and got her to show up in the library this way. But her Morphs would not install at all. The program made me install M4 morphs into the Main Poser runtime, so I don't know if that's going to work.
Then next issue, when I did load her, she came in completely black. Which is not how I remember it working before. I rendered it and she had blue skin. I thought she used to load with that ugly purple bikini. So I slapped the default DAZ sample material on her and it only showed up on her torso.

*** Also***
I would greatly appreciate any tips or settings that will help me get this thing running properly. As it stands I am looking at reinstalling it because nothing I have done has gotten the library back to me. That sucks!!
I used to always be on a 32 bit system and things worked just fine for me. But because I had a multi-core processor a friend kept insisting that I spend the money and get the 64 bit OS, "that it would make things much better". Well not so far....
Now I just read another thread about having 64bit flash. I don't know if I have that or not, I don't think so.
Is there anything else that you need to make sure is compatable with the 64 bit system so that poser runs correctly?
Any other system settings that will help me out here? I know how to google, and adjust most things, so if I can just get the info I will make the most of it. This is the sole purpose of this PC so I don't care how this effects anything else on it.
(side note) I didn't realize BB had been involved in developing this version of Poser. That is awesome for him. Now I also realize why he seemed to take my complaints personally LOL. Sorry BB, no offense, love your work.

GG. Honestly I think my copy is just bugged or something, I need to redownload from SM. Now after making these changes that I had hoped would help me - the stupid library no longer opens at all. Oh it's there, it's docked. It's a plain white box with no text, no folders, no libraries - just blank. I reset to factory settings and even that obviously doesn't work because the settings all stay like I put them. And the stupid blank box stays docked there.
I'm using windows 7 64 bit and I swear there is some configuration error. Probably between the keyboard and the back of my chair - but for whatever reason this works like crap for me. I have no problem upgrading, if I could confirm that was the problem, and what exactly to upgrade to. Honestly it would be nuts to find out that my computer is not good enough to even open this dang program correctly. 4g, decent vid card, 64bit OS etc...
I just want one thing to work easily and efficiently. Just one. That's all.

lol
I'd like to figure out how to do this:
"If you would avail yourself of the many options, you would find lots of ways to customize the UI. One of the ways you can customize it is to only show the Poser 7-style icon list, with no tree, along with a breadcrumb bar. In this mode, you never can be confused about what folder is active, and you navigate so that you only ever see the contents of one folder at a time, like Poser 7."
But I am hesitant to ask, since I suppose it's probably documented somewhere.

"Runtimes: What is the path to the runtime you are trying to add? What version of windows are you running?"
D:Xruntimes/Poses/Runtime = example. I am using windows 7 64
Basicwiz: that info is helpful - thank you!
Kendra: Thank you for letting me know I'm not the only one. lol
Bagginsbill: You are correct, reading the manual would have saved me some time and frustration. I guess my reason for not doing so was that previously the manual had been of no help whatsoever so I assumed (yes I know what that means :p) that it would be the same now and just a waste of time. I also 'assumed' that since I was already familiar with previous versions I should be able to just jump right in.
In all honesty, for me, posting on the forums is like going to the bathroom when you are waiting for your food at a restaurant. When you get back your food is always there. When I post, I usually find the answers within 5 minutes. It's magic really.
However, there are something that are mentioned in the guide which do not help at all. Like I decided after learning about the quick start guides that I would do that to just get familiar. Well they don't work - at least not for me. So much for that.
For me the people on the forums are far more user friendly and informative than the manual ever is. I would love to "avail myself" the option to change the folders to Poser 7 style. I will have to research exactly how that is done. Thanks for the tip!!!
Esther: Thanks for the tip about the library manager!
Hborre: Thanks for pointing that out for me :)

Oh adding to my frustration with the library. I add runtimes and they show up with 0 content in them. So I basically don't have anything I can load from the program besides v4 anyway. I must be missing something.

I think you can get the same outfit in photoshop with bevel and emboss.... I can't believe that's actually a marketed outfit. To each their own I guess.
