I feel like what has been said so far Blender has advantages to it in the rendering department over Poser yes it takes some practice and time to learn but well worth it in the long run IMHO. I know I mentioned this before in another thread and it is intially set up for scenes set up in Daz Studio to be rendered in Blender Cycles but with some tweaking can be made to work for Poser as well. The image on this page which as I said have a set of addon scripts for Daz and Blender cycles the image was set up in Daz Studio and rendered in Blender Cycles https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts/Home I think you will find it speaks a thousand words. Blender is truly a great tool to add to any work flow and worth the effort to learn.

Thread: Export-import using Collada (.dae) vs obj | Forum: Blender
I have been using the OBJ import mostly from Poser to Blender for modeling clothing and then back into Poser with not much of a issue with scale if I leave everything at it's defualt. For the type of modeling that I am doing have not yet needed the character armature but I have seen in other forums that Poser does not transfer imported armature set ups that were rigged in Blender very well at least in Poser 2012 not sure about the current version. I have heard that thier is a set of scripts for exporting from Daz scenes to render in Blender cycles that has had very good success with keeping textures and applied materials from Daz Studio they can be found here https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts/Home

In 2.68 the samples setting has been moved to the world icon I went looking for it as well and finally found it under the world icon and there is nolonger a preview just a sample setting and the defualt is set to 10 so would follow what unbroken said above just the location is no longer the same

Thread: Mesh Lint add on | Forum: Blender
I just had some time to kill and came across it for the first time on Blender Cookie and seemed like a worth while add on. Since I have come across issues with N-gons tris but sometimes it can be hard to seperate from tris and quads since i do some game assets that tris do come in handy but wanting to move into more things for Poser and such tris are a no no it seems so think this will help with that

Hello 3dscibbler
I remember a post similar to this not to long ago on a tutorial Create an Underground Subway Scene – Part 1 of 2 where he is setting up a tunnel that curves along a Nurbs path and curve that I think might give you some insight into how to accomplish what you are wishing to do. I hope it gives you some help

Thread: Welcome and General Blender Info for Newbies | Forum: Blender
Quote - Despite the old prevailing attitude that Blender is "too hard to learn" "too complicated" and other such nonsense, it is one of the better documented and explored applications out there. Incredibly talented people have set up brilliant blogs on how to do really exciting things with all the newest Blender technology, like Cycles and some of the modifiers (Ocean comes to mind)... this list is mindboggling in scope.
I agree with all that RobynsVeil** **especially this last portion having tried my hand at the old version of Blender the current devolopement has come broken down that wall and former sterotype of being to hard to learn. There is wealth of information and some really talented indivuals and communities sharing knowledge on how they do many exciting things and very proud that ours here is one that is so willing to help so take up the challenge jump into Blender wont loose anything. Thank you RobynsVeils for sharing

Thread: Useful Blender add on Tool Pie menu | Forum: Blender
I have always had a problem remebering all the short cuts and still have to use some but this has made it a bit easier for me to get to the ones I use the most. Plus I thought for some who are transitioning from Max and Maya that it might be something they are a bit more fimilar with. But you are right so many ways to do the same thing one of the really appealing things I am finding about Blender

That does seem like a really useful tool thanks for sharing it. I think I need to see if I can create a possible sticky for sharing tools and possibly tutorials that would be for specific areas that can be easily found at the top of the forum

Thread: Picture lock-up | Forum: Photoshop
Hello mdbruffy I hope this helps somewhat I am not fimilar with Elements as I am with Photoshop CS 5 but I looked this up and and you might have done this already but here goes
Lock or unlock a layer
You can fully or partially lock layers to protect their contents. When a layer is locked, a lock icon appears to the right of the layer name, and the layer cannot be edited or deleted. Except for the Background layer, you can move locked layers to different locations in the stacking order of the Layers panel.
Select the layer in the Layers panel, and do one of the following:
Click the Lock all pixels icon in the Layers panel, to lock all layer properties. Click the icon again to unlock them.
Click the Lock Transparency icon in the Layers panel, to lock the transparent areas of the layer, so that no painting occurs in them. Click the icon again to unlock.
Note: For type and shape layers, transparency is locked by default and cannot be unlocked without first simplifying the layer.
Simplifying a layer means converting a layer like a text layer into its current state and removing any ability to edit it. It can apply to several types of layers like shape layers and layers that have layer styles. It simplifies the layer so you can no longer change things (like the text, shape or style).
I do hope this helps in someway

Have to agree it is a shame that for the time being the Poser Tool Box project is at a stand still but there is a set of scripts for transfering a whole scene from Daz Studio to Blender to use the Blenders Cycle Rendering mcasualsdazscripts and I saw will have to find the article but by modifing one of the scripts you can export a Poser Scene using the scrips so you can use Cycles. I have heard allot of positive fedback from these scripts over in the Daz studio forums. Have not had a chance to test myself since my graphic card just falls short to take full advantage of Cycles
