same thing ( incandescents being phased out) is happening in the UK.
tried the new CFL bulbs, had to swap back in the main rooms of the apartment. i found that after about half an hour i would get an headache.
very difficult to find 100W incandescent bulbs now, next to go will be the 60W variety.

btw the lifetime comparison is based on the lights being on continuously. in real life, being switched on and off constantly, the lifespan of CFL's is very similar to incandescent.

also, they are dangerous in areas that have rotating machinery ( ie engineering workshops, woodwork shops etc)

i have stockpiled quite a few bulbs in 40W and 100W variety as i just cannot get on with CFL
( think i have about 150 40W and 300 X 100W stowed away!  lol!)

unfortunately, Poser lights do not come into DS very well. they come in with shadows off and usually overbright.

BVH did a full SWAT uniform for V3, don't know if it is still available though :(

i must admit i am disappointed in the so -called 'realistic' images that have been posted.

the non-organic parts of the images are pretty damn good. but the character materials are quite bad , DS and Poser can render characters to a higher quality .

the only  'near realistic' image i have seen is actually one of the promos for the product.

also the premise was an easy to use bridge to the LuxRenderer, ie build the scene in DS, export to Lux with materials intact and take advantage of the 'real-world' lighting in the unbiased render engine. needing very little tweaking.
i am reading posts that state a lot of fiddling with material settings was needed to get the image.

i think i would rather learn the materials room in both Poser and DS than pay out 80 dollars for a plugin that still needs yet another 'material' room to learn.

i set up a pure 'Poses' runtime ( external) just for figure poses.
i do have the advantage that i am a new Poser user and started with P7 sr3, so from the very start i set up all external runtimes on a separate HDD.
because i am so used to the Content Manager in DS, the older way of runtime set ups would drive me crazy!   lol!
the only side effect of my way is that i have at least 30 runtimes! and expanding!  lol!

the files are needed to use in Injection Pose builder. they are link library files with the suffix .lib

there was a post by one of the staff about the update for V4 in the forums, just can't remember the thread. the updates were something to do with LOD to make it easier for Poser users to use the lower res versions of V4.

you can also use 'DAZ Studio' as the target application, then the installer does not look for the 'poser.exe' file. then you can install it where you like ( morph packs etc do have to go into the same folders as the core figures)
i know this works on P7 up, not sure about earlier versions.
there is nothing except the original content and lights/scripts etc installed to the P7/P8 runtimes, on my comp.everything else is installed into runtimes on another hard-drive, including all the M4 and V4 figure and morph packs.
