Mmm... What I did with this one was.. found a nice side shot of a giraffe and used it as a blue print for my model. I also used the same photo for my texture map. I did it backwards from normal I guess.... I loaded the image into Blender.. and then UVmapped my model to the photo. I had to "cut and paste" on some of the front and back faces (ie the chest with the visible seem, also the face with turned out ok. )

Maybe this would be easier if you started a Tutorial Request Thread.. For example.. I'l like to see a good tutorial on getting a soft shadow effect or a way to use the Radiosity render with out loosing your sub-surface or textures.

Thanks.. I found a couple of really good giraffe photos and UV mapped them in there with blender. I had to piece in a few spots.. but it turned out pretty good.

I'm not familiar with it either. Where is it? Probably under the scripts menu I'm guessing. I have Bryce too. I like the preset water textures in Bryce.... they always look fantastic. Looks good. :)

Thought this might help...
You can hide vertices.. in which case you won't be able to select them while you're working on a different section of your mesh.
Just select the vertices you don't want to move.. then press 'H'.
To un-hide them.. press 'alt-H'.
Or.. select the vertices you want to work on, do an inverse selection.. and hide all of the rest.
I've noticed that in version 2.41.. when you hide vertices.. it still shows a 'shadow mesh' where in previous versions.. everything that was hidden was not visible at all.

I think I usually have a problem like that when there's triagles mixed in with squares.. I usually try to use loop cut ('k') when modeling instead of sub dividing.. which creates triagles if only one face is selected for sub dividing. I would redo the top corner square above the shadow into a total of 3 squares.. so you can continue your nose ridge lines all the way up to the top of the face without creating triangles. Also.. when you connect the 2 halves together.. sometimes some of the surface normals are facing the wrong way, which can also create a 'shadow' effect. When the 2 halves are together, select all the vertices and press 'ctrl n' I believe to re-align surface normals. I think this is relative the object center. Good luck. Red.

I tried that out after I read your post. It's a cool script. Would be great for easily making some space ships.

Ok.. here's a couple more.
My daughter loves shamu.. so of course. I don't think I finished the rigging on this one. When Blender 2.4 was released, I just started rigging it.
Also, my recent shield I created. My main focus here was just to practice using bump maps (Normals in blender). Nothing fancy on the modeling of this one.

Here's the first one. A Giraffe my daughter and I modeled one afternoon. I later spent some more time texturing and rigging it.I have a couple of questions if anyone knows the answer.
At one point I was able to set the rotation limits on the jaw bone.. now for that bone and all of the others.. the rotation limit buttons don't appear anymore.. maybe I'm looking at the wrong panel.
Grabbing any bone from the jaw to the first neck bone in pose mode and moving it causes the entire body to move. Grabbing the legs or tail and moving it does not cause this. Anyway to lock the torso bone from moving when this is done?
