several suggestions: try www.3dcafe.com website or the models links from www.brycetech.com most of the files there come in .dxf or .3ds format and usually work well in Bryce. Do a search on the artist Beton and check out the site he has. I think it had some cool stuff.

Thread: Sky Lab - Fog vs. Haze | Forum: Bryce
I have noticed that effect in the past myself. Good reminder though. I reposted the image that I was having the problem with in the gallery. "The Debate (Update)" Got the fog to behave somewaht better as a result of some of the comments. Thanks all, much appreciated.

Thread: How to make a rug, posters in bryce? | Forum: Bryce
Things I have found helpfull for artwork on a wall: I prefer to use a thin cube and use the object front setting to put the image on it. The cube has just a small bit of depth just like a real laminated poster. if you want you can also make a frame from 4 additional thin (but slightly thicker) cubes and pehaps place a glass 2d face or thin cube in front of the image cube. For a lay flat rug, again the thin cube works well with object top image. keyword: thin!

That is a very cool tip! Thanks. I also found that by closing bryce and reopenning it the preview reset to the current sceneview position.

haloedrain- The odd thing was that with the haze off I tried the fog sliders all the way up to their max's and still had no effect on my rendered image. That was why I was curious.

When you talk of set up, to what are you referring? I.e. did I alter a setting somehow and where should I look, because I seem to remember it following the scene camera too, in the past.

This is the way I understand it too. Unfortunately I can't seem to get the fog to work in what I interpret as a correct manner. Thanks for the feedback though.

I found something yesterday, when you step the windows hardware acceleration setting (under advanced) back from the full on setting, the screen saver will interrupt/suspend/slow Bryce! A fifteen minute render turned into 4 hours. Any else seen this? (w98SE)

Momcat- I have power management disabled on my machine and my screen saver does not interfer with any of my renders. What OS are you working under? (W98SE myself). Do you have any other apps going at the same time? Anything scheduled in Task manager? As to the nano view window, it is to give you a quick and dirty preview of your scene. For myself, I tend to use the plop render tool a lot! Run a partial render, then pause it and create a local plop render to tweak your details with. Richard

Thread: I could use some advice | Forum: Bryce
Very good advice. However I would add a bigger hard drive in lieu of the better graphics card. Go for at least a 40Gb. If you do a lot of 3d gaming then the better card will be of more use to you. The sad thing is that unless you are into the 3d gaming and running stuff like OpenGL then all you really need is about 8 Mb (should handle 1280x1024 in 24 bit colour depth display) to handle even the most advanced 2d image app.

Thread: Print resolution | Forum: Bryce
Excellant answer! Much appreciated. The one little point is that Corel's PhotoPaint deals with an image as pixel by pixel data not an inch by inch and scale data item. Using PhotoPaint's Resample command to reset resolution WITH the Maintain File size option checked will alter only the scale factor data in the image data files header lines. It does not in any way alter/delete/add to the image data (pixel by pixel info). This makes it a very useful tool to me. I run at 1280x1024 32 bit and render at 1280x1024 (makes better wallpapers for me that way) Bryce render well beyond its displayed image area (equivalent to being off the desktop in effect). I usually do a quick partial render at 50% to verify the final image composition and then, if happy, run the render at 100%. Works well. I did my renderotica callender renders the same way and they worked abs the same as my regular ones. Whats more fun is my monitor is 91 ppi not 72.
