Yes, they're the low-resolution versions; and the Mike is a low-res Mike 1, which I don't think was ever marketed by DAZ. I don't have my figure installed, but I'm sure the one on the DAZ site is a Mike 2.
Little Dragon is right, They're useful for non-closeup renders, and scenes where you need several figures in the middle-distance and beyond. And if I'm right about the Mike figure, it has a minor curiosity value as well.

One point; are you specifically listing 3D animation, or is your coverage more general?
If it's the latter, as well as Doerp's listing of "Futureworld", I'd add "Westworld" itself - I think the brief sequences from the black gunslinger's (Yul Brynner's) point of view were claimed as the first-ever use of specifically computer-generated film stock.
And I'd like to include "Predator" as an noteworthy '80s entry - assuming the camouflage/invisibility sequences were CGI?

I've had a couple of these; the HTML message containing the attachment even came with a Microsoft-ish blue colour scheme. As you say, it's easy to detect. NAV lit up like a Christmas-tree when it spotted it. Different name, though; identified as W32.Gibe.B@mm.

I'm told that I watched the first episode, but I don't remember the occasion - I was 4. I subsequently grew up on the programme, though.

I've found a French translation of the original Happyworldland tutorial.I think my French, like my Photoshop, is just about up to the retranslation task...

Just checking; is this the full version of Vicki 1, or (as on other recent magazine CDs) Vicki 1 Lo-Res?

Character design and animation for an adventure game I'm working on. I only have P3, but it's ideal for this kind of work.
I don't know if the game will ever see the light of day, but it's fun dabbling with it from time to time.

I'm with geoegress on the newer "Thing", and with artnik on "Dorian Gray". Regarding the latter; I remember watching that at university amongst a theatrefull of cynical students - you could have heard a pin drop when the colour painting came on screen. Oh, and thinking of student film nights - not a character, but a single shot - there's THAT moment at the end of "Carrie"...
Thread: question on poser 3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm working on a P3-compatible Vicki at the moment; I need to put in a little more work, and get some permission to distribute some third-party stuff, before it's ready. Could somebody who knows these things confirm - is there a per-part body morph limit in P3, as well as a per-character limit? I can't seem to get P3 to show more than about 14 morphs per part on the dials - this is a real pain with Vicki's face morphs, which number about 60. When it's ready, I'll post a link on this forum first, and then put it in Freestuff if it seems to be working OK. Timescale - probably next weekend.
Thread: Does Marketplace "What's Hot" mean the "top Sellers? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A follow-up question from this; what's the link to get to the overall Marketplace best-sellers? It may be obvious, but I can't spot it.
Thread: freestuff scam | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There's a new Brycemaster link - for a temple - in Freestuff, with the same site; this URL is OK. The first link may simply have been a mistake.
Thread: Looking for Best Victoria 2 Texture Available... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
For a free texture, I was going to suggest Stenographics' Steena, but the R'osity Stenographics link seems to be dead. Does anyone have an alternative URL? It's a good texture; not fully photorealistic, but not 'idealised' either. Might be what you're after - one caveat, though; I don't have the file to hand, but IIRC, it's a big download - 8Mb plus.

This link gives various options for obtaining version 5.1 for free. I agree with theigsl, 5.1 offers big improvements on version 4.Thread: You know you're a Poserholic when.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
... you go to see "The Two Towers" (I did yesterday) and your abiding memory from three hours of film is of Gollum's face and eye textures.
Sad, sad, sad...
... but they are impressive.
