Thread: Looking for new texture or character project ideas | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Some more Vicky textures would be good. Considering how many there are for Posette, very few for V.
Thread: HELP!!! how do you remove the "eyebrows" from Vicki2?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had the same problem. It's really not intuitive, and the brows_gone morph is NOT the answer. There are actually three eyebrow materials - in order from the top, eyebrows - Upper Eyebrows - Eyebrows (I think that's right from memory) and these are not even together in the list. What you need to do is: set the first of these to the skin texture you're using for the head, and set the colour to the same flesh colour you have for the head. Then go to Upper Eyebrows, add a suitable transparency and make them what colour you want. Don't forget to set transparency 100%. I think the last one you can ignore, I haven't found what it does. This gave me good results when I tried it out this morning for the first time after installing V2 but it took me 30 mins to work it out, and at one point I thought I would be starting this thread, not replying to it. What it boils down to is that V2 "out of the box" is an incomplete product - inadequate docs and no starting texture. Mean.

Thread: Leave Victoria 2 Alone | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It's a bugger for those who bought Vicky 1 JUST before Vicky 2 was announced. An extra $30 - sigh ...
Thread: Poser to Bryce pastiness? Help? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Also note that the figures import with ambience set to black. Change it to the texture. It would be nice to have some little program to tweak the .mtl file automatically before loading into Bryce. I've thought about this, but I haven't worked out the file syntax yet.
Thread: DACort downloads suspended until further notice | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Of course, people do tend to download things they MIGHT need in the indefinite future, because if they don't, when they go back for it later, chances are it may well be gone. It's a vicious circle.
Thread: How About a Time-Out for Curious Labs? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just to say that if you are only concerned with stopping casual piracy, you don't need industrial strength measures. Also, there's nothing inconsistent in being against piracy AND being against copy protection, the reason being that the latter doesn't stop the former. Also, if no-one ever changed their mind in response to valid argument, the world would be in a right mess. OK, it IS in a right mess, but there are at least some intelligent people on the planet who are capable of modifying their views.
Thread: Poser 5 - New things and fixing old things | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I was wondering if some of my list would be "there but hidden". I could never find any reference to ctrl-click deselect (shift-click would be more in keeping with convention). Yes, you can select a body part by clicking on it, but this can be very difficult if it is covered by clothing and totally impossible if visibility is switched off. Poser has a very idiosyncratic view of what the mouse is clicking on; you can move the pointer all over the place until the item you actually want is highlighted. Using the grouping tool to duplicate an object is real sledgehammer-walnut stuff. In any other app you either Ctrl-C Ctrl-V or better still, just Ctrl-D. You can rename figures so that a jacket become Jacket and not Figure2, but Poser still treats it as a "figure" e.g. in the menus, and if you have it accidentally selected instead of the real figure, and apply a figure pose, Poser will not say to itself "hang on, this ain't right" it will go ahead and screw the jacket up, usually without an undo.
Thread: Poser too expensive for what you get ( ulcers ;-} ) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Maz is right in saying that Poser can be considered expensive as something for the hobbyist. However, expensive and overpriced are two different things. For all its still remaining bugs (some may call them glitches) the value one gets from Poser 4 is extremely high. If I did an analysis of cost-per-hour-of-enjoyment of Poser against some other things, I think Poser would do very well indeed. As far as I'm concerned it was money very well spent.
Thread: Could we have a poll on security? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
But what have been the actual benefits of those different copy protection systems? Have they been cracked or not? If they have been, then the companies have not benefited and their users have suffered, or at least, been inconvenienced in the way you describe.
Thread: More About Curious Labs, Warez, PPP, Security. {Sorry 4 More; Please Read!!} | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It has to be considered also that probably many people will not buy Pro Pack as it contains far too little to be of interest to them. It really is rightly named as the "pro" pack; I guess it may be useful for high-end pro users, but for the small time amateur dabbler (like me) it's really not worth the cost. I hope CL aren't imagining that they ought to have had comparable sales figures to Poser 4. No way.
Thread: i need civil war uniforms | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Of course it's China! You mean there was ever some OTHER civil war? Must be ancient history. Never heard of it.
Thread: Do you have questions about software security and Curious Labs? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have to echo what's been said - although warez are repulsive, increasing protection doesn't help. Firstly, it will be cracked; secondly, even if it CAN'T be cracked, you don't necessarily increase your sales very much. I've always believed it a total fallacy to suggest that anyone who accepts a pirate copy of anything would actually buy the product if the pirate copy wasn't available. Thirdly, what you DO do is piss off royally your actual legit customers. Even if the registration process is as simple as you maintain, it is very distasteful. The CL line above is "it sounds bad but really it isn't such a hassle as it seems" - that's not the point. It's what it seems that really matters. The image projected is really very bad.
Thread: i need civil war uniforms | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Coincidentally I'm also looking for Civil War uniforms, both for the Nationalist and Communist forces. Does anybody know where I can find them?
